New job, new town, whole new life, right? Right?

Dr. Miriam ‘Mimi’ Peralta’s in the middle of a whole life shift, she’s the newly hired medical examiner for Peterborough. Beyond the reach of her overbearing family and far away from her cheating ex as she could get, this job is supposed to be her fresh start.

But sometimes old problems dog you every step of the way from home. A forensic pathologist by profession, Mimi tries to take her job seriously, and herself less so as she hopes to find the woman she used to be before life tried to break her down.

A fluke is the only reason Det. Lt. Jake Fahey caught a dead body and a case of a lifetime, but his eyes are more distracted by the body of one Chief Medical Examiner. She's cute, quirky, and smart as hell. He wasn’t looking for her kind of trouble, but was happy to oblige it.

As more bodies start rolling in, there seems to be one common thread, and it's closer than anyone thinks.

Can Mimi survive a serial killer's obsession with her or will Jake just be left with his own paper doll?

In a world where trust is at a premium, do they really want what's done in the dark to come to the light?

Give Me a Series

Alexis ma’am, Miss lady please I beg tell me this is going to be a series! Please tell me you are about to give me a plus size POC highly sought after or Bones type series?!! This was good. I figured out who the killer was early on but I didn’t even care because the build out to them figuring it out was still good. I absolutely loved Mimi and I want more of her! The romance was a subplot but well done and there was enough room at the end for it to develop further, that I’m hoping that is an indicator that there is more to come. The highlight of the story really was watching Mimi work, I can only imagine how much research it takes to right a crime mystery from the pov of the medical examiner so I’ll be patient waiting for the next. I also enjoyed the side characters and all the potential I can see in this world. Alexis Craig honestly is amazing at creating characters and stories you want to immerse yourself in and I’m happy to be reading her work again.

It was no surprise to me that Alexis Craig's new romance-thriller kept me riveted to the page from beginning to end; I've read her Winged Guardian series, after all. This new story is every bit as edgy and smart. Craig's background in law enforcement shows in her informed depictions of crime scenes and investigations.

Her characters are scrumptious. Her dialogue realistic and witty. Her storyline original and captivating. Grab a snack and settle in to read on a long winter's night!
