I’ve gained the handsome criminal’s trust. The problem is, he’s also gained mine.

Arlen Montgomery isn’t just eye candy. He has a depth to him I didn’t believe existed in such a devious individual. And as we work together in secret to solve my cases, I’m becoming increasingly aware of the hold he has on me. I’ve been in his arms more times than I’d like to admit.

Still, despite the blossoming of my feelings for him—and the growing pain in my fingers—I’m keeping my detective’s hat on. Because after a stakeout, I followed him to his warehouse and discovered the first of many secrets he’s been keeping from me.

And those secrets involve my cases.

He succeeded at thawing my frozen heart. But will his actions freeze it once again and spur me to throw him in jail? Or will I listen to the beating pleas urging me to continue trusting him?

This is the second book in The Green series. Book one must be read first .

I’ve always enjoyed writing. It started off in grade school when I would write poems and enter them into contests listed in the backs of magazines, hoping to win it big and become famous like a lot of kids dream about. In high school, short stories replaced my poems. Even though I mostly kept those stories to myself, I continued to daydream about them as I got older. As an adult, I desired to write full-length books to get those larger stories out of my head and onto paper. And so here we are!

In life, I find it’s much easier to look on the positive side of things and to laugh every chance you get. Find what you love. Take those risks. After all, you miss out on 100% of the chances you don’t take!

Josephine June continues to wow both Arlen and readers alike in the second installment of The Green series. The quick peek at Josephine's past, her relationship with her parents and the strong bond she has with her uncle, all explain why Detective Josephine June is, well, the Detective Josephine June.

This installment has so many more occurances of the delightful touch-her-and-you-die trope; Arlen is smitten like a kitten and is far from bashful admitting it, be it to his henchmen or to the woman who he has fallen head over heals for.

We love a morally gray MMC who's not afraid to embrace his dark side. He never shies away from the fact that he's a villain and everytime Josephine's sense of righteousness kicks in, he reminds her of his self-proclaimed villain-ness with sass and charm. And that seemingly nonchalant query as to Josephine's Dad's address after he finds out the latter wasn't as good a parent as he should have been? 10/10 over-protective morally-gray boyfriend material!

We also get to glance at Arlen's past- his scary father is just as intriguing as his romantic escapedes. There's something extremely attractive about a tough-as-nails man becoming putty in the hands of the woman he loves and Arlen does it with finesse. And that bombshell of a twist he drops at the end alone is worth every second spent reading the previous part and this one.

Paul and Donna are finally getting to the good parts and I'm here for it all.

The story is a quick read and compared to the first book, a faster pace as well. In summary, it's a wonderful read, setting up the premise for the next book fabulously.

Voluntarily reviewed after reading a free ARC of the book from Booksirens.

Following on from Book 1 and this series is a must read from the beginning to understand the strange and alien world that has been created. Detective June still battles the before and after, the dominance of men and their perceived view of women’s roles, but she is taking a step in the right direction but becomes involved with someone that she would never have even considered. We are taken along a journey of romance and intrigue and the weird new world in the after.

This type of series is not something that I would normally aspire to read but the author has a way of drawing the reader in and leading them along. I have really enjoyed the writing style in its easy to read and follow along.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Green is a Historical Fantasy Romance Series Set in the 1950s, book 2 by B L Twitched. I think that you might be able to read book 2 without reading the first book, but I believe that The Green book 1 is definitely a foundational book. The chemistry between Detective Josephine Jones and escaped mob boss, Arlen Montgomery is HOT! The story is so well written and exciting. I never knew what was going to happen next. When I thought I had everything set in my mind, the author dropped a bombshell. Oh my goodness… this story is dynamite. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

In The Green book 2 we learn more about Arlen and Josephine 😍 and the cold case the detective is working on. Plus their relationship blossoms and there’s more heat (lots of smooches) which I love!
Arlen is the Ying to Josephine's yang! They complement each other even with their powers. Josephine is so up beat and encouraging 😍 while Arlen is smooth and secretive.
The only issue I had with this story is I didn't like the ending x) I'm okay with cliffhangers but this felt rushed and unfinished. I think the preview to book 3 would have been the perfect last chapter to this book. But that's just my opinion.
The book was great ❤️ and I pre-ordered book 3!

In Book 2 of The Green, we keep going with the story set in the 1950s, following a strange green fog that drastically altered lives. Some people had weird or horrible defects, some people had superpowers that may or may not be useful, some didn’t survive, and some were unaffected.
There are some really clever alterations in some of these characters I never would have thought of. But the two main characters, who balance each other with fire and ice, pair up more.
Book 1 was more like a to-be-continued, then book 2 really ties things together with big reveals and a huge cliffhanger.
Very cool story with a lot of in depth character development, and I’m looking forward to reading book 3!

The story of Detective Josephine June and fugitive Arlen Montgomery continues and their relationship becomes a bit more complicated. It's fire and ice in every way.

As with book 1, character development is well done and the plot is absolutely unique. This is an out of the box good guys versus bad guys fantasy/sci-fi with a dash of dystopian sprinkled in. I'm eagerly awaiting Book 3 of this series.

This series is so fun so far, and the cliff hanger in this book is crazy.
This definitely isn’t a slow burn romance, even though the build up spans over multiple books, it’s more of a forbidden enemies to lovers situation. The main character definitely gives in and admits her feelings very quickly. But it’s still an entertaining world and some fun and silly characters.

"Mystery and Forbidden Love
in a World of Moral Grey"

“The Green: Book Two ” by B.L. Twitchell is a thrilling Sci-fi Enemies-to-Lovers Detective Romance. It's the second installment in the series that brilliantly surpasses the first, weaving an even more intricate web of mystery and a smoldering affair.

B.L. Twitchell's writing style is both evocative and immersive, creating a hauntingly beautiful backdrop for the intense emotional journey of both main and side characters. Her delicate handling of sensitive personal and social issues in a post-apocalyptic society struggling to survive and find happiness is impressive.

"He made me drunk, intoxicated by his charms, his smell,......"
Ahhhh what a book - intoxicating indeed....

I wholeheartedly recommend it to all readers, as it can keep them on the edge of their seats while tugging at their heartstrings .
