Marquise Cecelia has awoken in the bedroom of the infamous Demon Knight, Lucas Herbst. His rough style of love has left the night before a blur, but apparently he's claimed her as his fiancée! Political shake ups have saved her from disgrace and losing her status. But Lucas's warped love will keep her on her toes... or her back...
This is easily the silliest of Seven Seas' Steamship titles - and the most explicit. And the cringiest, if I'm being honest. I guess it's just the -est title for whatever adjective you choose.
Unsure if I'll actually bother continuing the series at this point. The ridiculous "Lord Lukie" name is just driving me crazy and for a 'spicy manga' this really isn't all that spicy. Additionally, the spacing/framing of the story telling is choppy and a bit boring and can be pretty hard to follow. The art style is gorgeous overall, but writing is sub-par.
Lucas is flustered and Cecilia is coming to terms with her feelings. As the story goes deeper it seems like they can’t catch a break. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of miscommunication pops up in the next volume.
Oh we actually got some plot. And holy smut !! That was delicious !! Find me a Lucas !! Please !! But I’m loving the character dynamics. There is still secrets to be had but I do love that Cece will come into her own eventually here. Also the idea of her not know about him being the knight from childhood or simply assuming that!! So that’ll be an even tastier reveal !!
A little more character and plot development in this volume than the previous, I definitely wouldn't say there's much of it generally. Are ppl really reading steamy mangas for the plot though? I would think not. I certainly am not. I suppose Lord Lukie isn't as bad as I thought he was in the first volume. In this volume, we learn that Cecelia was placed in the care of the brothel and that her family had been aware of it. I do think that she should have been told of this plan beforehand. I also think that putting that magical seal on her while they were having intercourse should have happened in a moment where she could properly consent. They do make it a point that she seal would not had worked if she was against it in the slightest, but I think proper communication regarding the matter prior to placing the seal would have been better.
What is the point of this volume? The first volume lacked a bit of direction but the ending was giving some information and a possible plot moving forward...
However, in this volume, it was even harder for me to follow the story, maybe the translation did a bad job, but I actually found that some information was repeated in the span of a few pages, and then it didn't flow at all in some passages, to the point that I didn't know what was happening...
The art style is very beautiful, but I kept wondering if sometimes a panel or two was missing... what of it was the lack of flow in the writing, and what was from the need of more drawings, I'm not sure at this point...
I probably won't be continuing the series, unless I can somehow get it from my library to see if it is improving...
In spite of myself I still find myself liking this series. Maybe it’s because the characters are funny, maybe it’s because there is some good backstory that makes it less “insta-lovey,” or maybe it’s because there are more fantasy elements that give the world a richer world to build off of but there’s something makes me want to keep reading.
Is this the best series? Hell no! Does it excel in places that other josei manga doesn’t? Yes. Namely, the male lead making it more about his desire for the female lead and believable displaying both of their relationship insecurities, a small (minuscule, even) amount of character development), and a female lead who - while clueless as fuck - isn’t entirely a rag doll, she does rise to the occasion and at least stands up for herself by using her words unlike how many other josei romance protagonists are wont to do
Everyone around Cecilia is unhinged and I love it. this definitely improves on some of more sus aspects of the first volume by going all in on how insane Lucas's entire household is. And it absolutely works. more yandere themed titles would do well to do that and go "Alright, he's crazy, this whole world I'd crazy and our heroine has gotta be unhinged to by seeing the crazy and getting hot and bothered by it."
Listen there is a whole lot of miscommunication in here. It sucks and the plot isn’t terribly good. But the smut is spicy and the story and characters just entertaining enough to keep going. I definitely say there is more smut than plot I feel in this one but there is still a good bit of plot too. But I buy these mainly for the spice so my expectations for them are not very high.
Similar to Rosen Blood sometimes the intricacies of the world in this series are hard to follow or remember for me but I loved getting more background from Lucas in this one and it ended like an episode of the Punisher-so cool!

Damn this man is OBSESSED and aggressive on the outside but inside he's a little golden retriever just trying to do anything and everything to show her he loves her 🥰
The art is gorgeous, the artist is amazing. It is very, very smutty like oh my God what is on these pages type of smutty. But the storyline is a little confusing and a lot is not explained and we are already on the 2nd manga.
Wavering between a 3 and 4 star on this one—the first half took me a while to get into because it just seemed like a lot of sex & whimpering, but I do actually like the worldbuilding and their relationship (when they’re not busy with pages upon pages of fucking…).
