Murder on the Night Train to Paris: A totally addictive cozy murder mystery

Rate this book
What if the City of Light holds nothing but darkness? January, 1926 Invited aboard the glamourous Night Train to Paris, and tasked with investigating the disappearance of her best friend, Dolly Cardigeon, Posie Parker suddenly finds herself right in the middle of a murder! Controversial society beauty, Lady Caroline Greenlow, is on her way to Paris Fashion Week. She always has a habit of rubbing people up the wrong way, but things take a dreadful turn when she is poisoned at dinner, and then another murder occurs soon after. Just who exactly are their fellow passengers? Why is the Night Train so empty? And why did Lady Caroline have to die?

Is everything really as it seems? As she starts to look for her friend Dolly, in a quest which takes in the seedy artists’ quarter of Montparnasse, the glamorous Champs-Elysees, and the glitter of the clubs of Montmartre, Posie realises that she must pursue justice for Caroline Greenlow too, and find the killer.

And as she searches for answers regarding both women, Posie realises that danger is hot on her own heels, and someone is following her at every corner. But who? And why? And can she get out of Paris alive? A delightfully gripping historical cozy. Fans of Agatha Christie, Lee Strauss and Rhys Bowen will be smitten. Readers adore Posie Parker! Don't miss out on the other thrilling books in the Posie Parker Mystery Series, available exclusively on Amazon. Another fine story

L.B. Hathaway has concocted another impossibly complicated tale that I’m not even sure holds together at the end when Posie explains it.

Like other tales, the joy of reading it comes - for me - not from a nicely explained ending, but from the fabulous ways Hathaway has gotten us to buy into a seemingly impossible story.

And, at the end, Hathaway leaves a sufficient number of characters “still standing” that, I hope, will be drawn back into a story or two in the future.

Loved it!

This was Posie at her best, doing what she does best. Well other than being manipulated by Caspian della Rosa. But even that played it's part in this cracking mystery, which is somewhat on the lines of an Agatha Christie book. And at least this time she didn't need to upstage her husband. Though his dialogue makes him sound like a rank amateur rather than a high ranking police officer.

Ok, This one isn't so bad.

Yes, the "I am the best" tone is still there. But, this one I cannot stop but continue on to read. In the end, she realize she didn't take the time to analyze and fell right into the hands of her nemesis. Its that easy!

About Dolly, I find it sad. the kids well be growing up hating her for abandoning them. She should have face the fact that she isn't getting along with her hubby, that they grew apart, instead of them doing bad stuff to each other.

Brilliant

Finally! Some closure. Posie, like a lot of women, dislikes being a stay at home wife. She got out of the habit of working at her detective agency. Posie also lost her best friend. So when she is offered a chance to find her friend, she takes it. This is a very convoluted story, but well worth your time.

A great finish to my Posie Parker Binge!
This book was one massive deception on top of another, with mysteries trailing throughout it. Easy to follow, while being complicated and engaging, these are the best types of cozy mysteries.
I suggest you read the whole series!
Looking forward to the next one…

An Outstanding audiobook! Twisty, creative, touching and unbelievably believable. Sucked me in and I couldn’t stop listening. I even slowed down the normal playback speed to ensure I wouldn’t miss a single nuance. Caution-start at the beginning of this series to appreciate each audiobook to the fullest.

My favorite book to date by this author! She does an amazing job of introducing the plot and characters and then with each chapter pulls the reader into the mystery. You feel like you are solving the mystery with Posie Parker!

Wow. I couldn't put it down. What a great mystery. Complicated story all coming together at the end. Some book series seem to go downhill the longer they go on; the Posy Parker's just keep getting better,

Always layered always intriguing, but please tell me Caspian Delarosa is finally gone! I don’t think I could take anymore of him! And not our poor Dolly… Think about her children, and her poor husband is drinking him self to death! Love it, can’t put it down, even though it makes my OCD kick in!

Not a puzzle mystery: Posie solves the main mystery with well-timed telegraphs for her minions to look things up for her. And the secondary mystery is what it is ... but enjoyable, in a bit of a thriller kind of way.

A much higher body count than is usual for this series! More twists and turns too. I usually guess the ending, but I didn't this time. Highly entertaining. I am looking forward to the next instalment in the series.
