Deceived by my heart. Drowning in fractured memories. Taken against my will.
Shane Bennett used me, and for nothing more than revenge.
I was a victim, and in turn, I made him one. But that was then. I’m different now—is he? Or is this the moment when everything comes crashing down.
The connection between us twists and stretches from the past to the present, abused and strained but undeniably intact.
Something—someone—is coming for me. As each threatening note is delivered, the secrets in my mind break free.
It’s in Shane’s arms that I feel the safest. But trusting him means that I’m putting everything in my life at risk.
Is he worth it?
Wicked Ends is an enemies-to-lovers, new adult, bully romance with plenty of angst and a HEA. This is the conclusion of Wicked Games, and Winter and Shane’s duet. This book contains mature content that some readers may find disturbing.
Isla does it again and again. This time it is with the delectably dark Wicked Ends. Wicked Ends is the explosive second book in this duet, but it is the eighth book in a series. Am I addicted. Yes I am! This is one series that I have not been able to stay away from. I am sad to see the series end, but I have enjoyed the Hidden Valley Elite boys. I wonder if the wicked and darkness of these boys will carry over into a new series with them being older. Mmmmmmm food for thought Isla. Shane may be one of the Elite but underneath it all he has a heart of gold. He is being pulled from pillar to post and it is that that could lead him further down the path of darkness. Winter has had a life of darkness and one she thought she left behind. Together they could be toxic but apart they aren’t whole. There is a lot of back and forth between these characters and some surprisingly shocking twisty turns that you don’t want to miss. Revenge is a bittersweet thing!
This is the 8th book, but the 2nd book in Shane's duet. I have said this before and I will say it again from the roof tops, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this entire series. I am NOT ready to say goodbye. Every single character in the entire series is super relatable, and even their experiences are as well. You do not need to read the other 6 books, but I highly do recommend that you do as that they are all wonderful in their own unique ways and it also heightens the experience for the rest of the books in the series, including this one. This book definitely is an amazing way to end the duet, and the series as a whole.
Now, on to this book specifically. I adore Shane, he has always been one of the characters I just CRAVE to know more about. Winter also captured my heart immediately. There is plenty of chemistry, angst, drama GALORE, love as well as hate, revelations, family, and of course just the right amount of some mystery!
This is not a lovey-dovey type of romance it is a bully romance; I repeat A BULLY romance. Please check the trigger warnings if you have any.
Throughout the book, Winter and Shane seem to be both not necessarily "stuck in the past", but most definitely dealing with trauma that happened in the past. For Shane, it is his father, who wanted nothing to do with the boys (him and his brother) for years, until recently. But now, it seems the reoccurring theme with his dad is - MONEY. Winter's sister, Summer, was supposedly drowned by her mother. Winter's mind has been blocked and she's begun to wonder if there is more to what really happened. That is until recently she has been remembering more and more about what happened to her.
Winter is almost abducted, and everything just gets M-E-S-S-Y! While Shane is dealing with his greedy Grandfather who wants Shane to pay a steep price for money assistance. Money that his father is asking from him, putting him in a horrible position in order to get the money.
The two finally come together, to help figure out who has targeted her and why?
This book, and the first part of the duet, will have you falling in love with both of their stories. The character development is amazing. The plots themselves are outstanding and not typical. This is a series that I will continue to reread over and over again. The characters will always live rent free in my brain! The book and the series are highly addictive, and you won't want to wait a minute until you have read it to completion!
Isla Vaughn's "Wicked Ends" delivers an electrifying and satisfying conclusion to the turbulent journey of Winter and Shane in this dark college bully romance. From the opening pages, the story captivates with a relentless blend of heart-wrenching emotions, intense passion, and unyielding suspense.
Deceived by the complexities of their hearts, Winter and Shane's connection is a tumultuous ride that seamlessly weaves the past and present, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. The author masterfully explores the aftermath of betrayal and revenge, taking the characters through a rollercoaster of emotions that are both raw and authentic.
The plot is rich with unexpected twists, keeping readers guessing and eagerly turning pages to uncover the dark secrets lurking in the shadows. Vaughn skillfully builds tension through threatening notes, creating a palpable sense of impending danger that adds layers of complexity to the narrative.
What truly sets "Wicked Ends" apart is its exploration of trust and redemption. As the characters evolve, so does the depth of their connection, battered yet unbroken. The author navigates the delicate balance between vulnerability and strength, making Winter and Shane's journey a compelling exploration of self-discovery and resilience.
The enemies-to-lovers theme is expertly executed, with the angst and passion between Winter and Shane leaping off the pages. Vaughn crafts her characters with nuance, making them relatable and endearing even in the face of their flaws.
In the arms of Shane Bennett, Winter finds safety amidst the chaos, and readers will find themselves equally ensnared by the magnetic pull of their love. The stakes are high, and the question of whether Shane is truly worth the risk lingers throughout, creating a delicious tension that propels the story towards its heart-pounding climax.
"Wicked Ends" not only concludes the Wicked Games duet but does so with a resounding and well-earned happily-ever-after. Isla Vaughn delivers a riveting and emotionally charged tale that will linger in the hearts of readers long after the final page is turned. For fans of dark romance, this book is an absolute must-read, earning its well-deserved five stars.
The perfect ending to the duet and the overall series. I couldn't have been more pleased with how everything wrapped up and I really loved all the shocking twists! Shane and Winter were the best couple to give this series all the heart, excitement, and shocking revelations to really keep the pages turning. I really loved it!
Shane really had his ups and downs throughout this series. Between having a serious girlfriend who treated him poorly, facing a few arrests on his record, dealing with his bio dad because Shane still seems to have the biggest heart of everyone, and this is even after we find out that Shane was bullied to the point of severe depression when he was a child. Shane continually blew me away with the size of his heart and that was even with his attempt at getting back at Winter for the awful way she treated him as a kid. Overall, at his core, he's just a good guy and this is one of the reasons he's one of my favorite characters. He made reading this duet intriguing and especially captivating. It was that factor of...will he finally flip to the dark side? Will he finally be pushed too far or will he be Shane and give Winter a second chance?
The same thoughts were there for Winter, could she be faking everything and eventually flip? This girl went through the wringer as a child and used that darkness poorly at a time in her life when she was at her lowest, but she didn't stay there. Or did she? She turned her life around and wasn't the same person. Winter and Shane were both at an impasse where they didn't trust one another, but also could only trust one another. It was a strange place to be, but they were there none-the-less. Their unknowns about each other, the people in their lives and who they could trust outside their small bubble really kept the pages turning and I Ioved it!
Could these two ever move on when there was so much uncertainty and the danger floating around them? Find out, but remember this is book two of a duet and for the best reading enjoyment it needs to be read after reading Wicked Games and really should not be read as a standalone.
The more wicked the brighter the ending. It was such a bittersweet moment when I started page one. I have been in love with this series since the very beginning with Cruel Start and now it has come to an end. One of the best things about this entire series is that a guaranteed happily ever after at the end of each duet. As always, the phenomenal Isla Vaughn perfectly continues the story in one breath. Winter is missing, Shane the one and only suspect. Only it’s not that black and white. Someone has framed Shane, but no one can figure out who or why. More importantly why are they targeting Winter and determined to label her a murderer. This semester was supposed to be good, to reconnect and remember the life she left behind when her sister died, and her mom went to jail but being back in the place where it all began started something she couldn’t imagine was hiding in her memories. We build walls in our minds for a reason and Winter’s walls crack and crumble with each new threat, the feeling of someone watching her even in her room asleep. The only person that makes her feel safe is also the person that got close to her with lies even if the only lie was his name. Shane confronts his pain and when Winter apologizes, he feels sincerity and worries for her when she comes asking for help in defending herself. Everything seems to be against him this year, first Phoenix’s accident, Joe coming back into his life, Luke Green and now Winter and the wickedness that he once thought was inside her. Who has a target for Winter? Will Shane overcome the accusations? How will the truth affect their relationship? The author’s world has been my favorite place this past year and honestly, I already feel lost finishing this incredible series. Each couple in a way builds on the story of the next and the previous. Knowing they each found their way through the Savage, Brutal, Cruel, and Wicked truths to find their match and their safe place is beyond amazing. The greatest part the five-year jump at the very end and the love, and happiness that surrounded them all.
Wicked Ends is Book #8 (but the 10th instalment) in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn. Not going to lie – this was a bit of a bittersweet read for me as I really needed to know how Shane and Winter’s story turned out – but I also knew that this was not only the conclusion to their story, but to the series too……and I’m not ready to say goodbye! But what a great way to round out the series! Gah, this series has been one heck of a ride, and I’ve loved every minute! Each instalment just seemed to get better and better as we went along. It is incredibly hard to choose a favourite out of them all. But I really wish there were more to come still…. As with the other books in the series, this is a New Adult, enemies-to-lovers “bully” romance with plenty of chemistry, sizzle, angsty drama, love, hate, passion, emotion, tension, intrigue, suspense, revelations, family dynamics, and a little mystery. As we previously discovered- The ‘Elites’ are brothers Cole and Damon and their cousins, twin brothers Phoenix and Shane. Each of the elites get their own book/s – and this one (Book #8) is the engrossing conclusion to Shane and Winter’s story. And OMG Ms. Vaughn has made them jump through hoops to find their HEA- or do they? I’m not going to tell. Again, as with the other instalments, this is not a light and fluffy read- as there is a lot of darker content, which I won’t go into because I don’t want to spoil anything for you. But highly suggest checking the content warnings before diving in, because there are some disturbing/unsettling details contained in the book/series. So keep that in mind, especially if you have any triggers. Yes- I was expecting it, and Ms. Vaughn certainly delivered- but pretty sure she enjoyed toying with my anxiety and playing with my emotions the whole way through the book and series! And I would happily turn around and do it all over again. I am excited to see what Ms. Vaughn might do next! Happy Reading…
This story is the 2nd part and the ending to Wicked Games. Our main characters are Winter and Shane. Both of which we can love to hate for different reasons. Life is tough and if there are no boundaries, guidelines or even good examples for what is right and wrong, tragedies happen.
Winter had a tragic childhood; her sister was murdered as a child. That alone is enough to make anyone crazy. Without the help of parents, or any family, Winter channels her anger, fear and uncertainty on those around her. As a child that meant other children. In particular Shane. Fast forward many years and we have Wicked Games, book 1 in this duet. The two meet again but under different circumstances…thus bringing us the tragic twist of fate, with Wicked Ends.
Shane is the bully we love to hate. He has lived a pampered life as one of the Elite during high school. Football star, caring family, loads of money. As a child Shane was shy, quiet and under the protection of his cousins and brother. He became the target of bullies, and his biggest bully in particular was Winter. She made his life a living hell. Fast forward many years and Shane has grown into his body, toughened up and now becomes the bully. Revenge is sweet. However, there’s something about Winter that just doesn’t add up. Shane is confused by his feelings and what he discovers. Throw in a few family issues of his own, college as well, football requirements and Shane is close to the end of snapping himself.
Coming together these two help each other work through their related tragedy, they learn to love and that forgiveness is ok.
This story is the conclusion to this duet and sadly, the Hidden Valley Elite Series itself. All eight books are great, but I think this one is my favorite.
Can’t wait to see what else this author writes next!
Wicked Ends: A Dark College Bully Romance (Hidden Valley Elite Series, Book 8 ) by Isla Vaughn - Review by Jessica Stone
I can't say it enoughhhh, I absolutely love this book series! The boys, major heart eyes, and the lovely ladies, they've all quickly grown on me. But I cannot stress this more, you have to start from the very beginning, there is no hopping in Willy Nilly, you will be VERY lost and lose out on some awesome character building, family building, relationship drama loveliness.
I believe this character is going to finish out this series, the broody last brother Shane, personally I believe he's a bit more of a tortured soul then the other boys were but, that's a personal opinion. I've enjoyed how every book gets a bit more, crazy, mores going on, building up, headed towards a crazy climax.
Winter, to be honest, not my favorite character, she rubbed me a bit raw with her treatment of Shane in the past, but as always if I start out not to keen on a character somehow Isla pulls out a perfect redemption for them and by the end I'm sold. I'm pretty sure I spent the first half of this book holding my breath, trying to keep it together, these poor boys have been through the wringer but, worth it. All of it was perfectly crafted, this whole series, each individual character and their stories which all tie perfectly together. I can't praise this series enough.
I will definitely be going back through and re reading from the beginning of this series when it's finished just to get the full experience back to back cohesively, though it won't be like reading them the first time, I have high hopes it'll be just as good even knowing what's going to happen.
Wicked Ends, Hidden Valley Elite Series, Isla Vaughn, Review, Itsy Bitsy Book Bits, New Adult, Romance, Bully, Bully Romance, Jessica Stone, December 2023
Wicked Ends is Book Eight in the Hidden Valley Elite Series. It is a dark college, enemies to lovers’ story full of loss, angst, passion, romance, revenge, dark secrets, toxic families, and uncertainty. This book wraps up Shane and Winter’s saga. Winter was at a dark place in her childhood, and it caused her to lash out at others. Shane was one of the unfortunate victims of Winter’s bullying during childhood. Her mistreatment of him caused him to consider ending his own life. When Winter resurfaces in Shane’s life years later all his hurt, anger, and resentment towards Winter resurfaces. He decides to exact revenge which puts them both on a path that simultaneously pulls them apart while also drawing them together. They do not trust each other but do not know who else to trust either. A complicated situation to say the least. Winter has changed her life around and is attempting to move forward. Shane is dealing with both past and current trauma. Both are trying to overcome their dark pasts and have a brighter future. Both have a hard time trusting. Both feel the attraction to the other, but can they put past hurts and resentments behind them? Can they have a future together? When Winter receives threatening notes and the danger to her life escalates Shane is the only one, she feels safe with. A tension filled ride full of twists and turns as secrets are revealed and we find out how entangled Shane and Winter’s lives have been through the years. Winter and Shane really developed and grew throughout this book, and we learn that deep down Shane is a nice guy with a heart of gold. Bittersweet to see this series ending and I am hoping the author has more books in store for us!
I know I have said this before in my reviews of this series, but it is one of the best series I have ever read. The characters are realistic, diverse, likable, smart, funny and bad. One of the overriding themes throughout the series, especially between the boys is family. They would do anything for those they care about and as each finds their special one, the circle gets a little bigger.
In the conclusion of the series, Winter and Shane are each chasing ghosts. Winter remembers more of what happened to her sister and Shane is being haunted not only by his father but a fling that won’t let him go. Things get more complicated with an almost abduction of Winter. Shane faces more pressure from his father for money. Shane’s grandfather wants to help but his assistance comes at a price, sometimes too steep to pay.
When the truth is finally revealed about what happened to Winter and her sister on that horrible day, Shane and Winter are linked more than they ever knew. One thing is for sure, they will be forever linked.
The Bonus Epilogue nearly had me in tears. It was beautiful and amazing. It was a nearly perfect ending to the series. The only way it would have been more perfect would have been to set up the next generation. But that is just me being greedy because I don’t want to let these characters go. I felt such a loss at the end of this book that I had to blindly watch TV for the rest of the night. I wasn’t emotionally ready to say goodbye. I needed time before moving on.
To the author: Thank you for these characters. Thank you for these stories. I look forward to your next book, the next series, the next whatever you do because you have found a permanent spot on my TBR list and my shelf!!
Wicked Ends picked up exactly where it left off in the previous book! Who can forget that cliffhanger!!!!!!
Shane has always been a mystery to me. Throughout the series, I wasn’t sure if I liked him. In the previous book, I fell hard for him, and I can honestly say he became my favorite character. He appeared so arrogant, and boy did he have a stubborn streak. I had no idea what heavy baggage he was carrying from his past. I didn’t always agree with his actions, but part of me could see why he did the things he did.
I was in Winter’s corner from the beginning. She was beautiful and intelligent, and the girl had perseverance and strength. I’m not saying she was perfect. She was far from it and did hurtful things to others during her childhood. Just ask Shane. The things she did, like Shane, were reactions to her painful, painful past. That’s why they made such a perfect couple.
The series does encompass some dark, emotional aspects, and some of the main characters are less than loveable in the beginning. However, Vaughn is so talented at bringing light and love into each book. The journeys to their happy endings are fraught with obstacles, mostly in the imperfections and flaws of the characters, but those hard times and roadblocks are what bring the love and light into each book! She balances both the dark and light so perfectly!
I felt like Vaughn gave each book such an appropriate title, and the one she chose for this one was perfection!!! It was a wicked end to the series and in all the right ways!!! The epilogues were icing on the cake! Thank you, Isla Vaughn, for letting me see how each character I have grown to love was doing in the future. I highly recommend this series!
ARC Review of Wicked Ends by Isla Vaugh * * * * * The wild ride comes to an end in the eigth and final book of the series that has promised drama, action, spiciness and happiness! Winter and Shane left us reeling, now they leave us wondering how their life turned out after the final chapter.
Winter has gotten herself into a bit of a situation. Tied up up. Alone. She's gone missing and everyone knows it. Who's number one suspect? They guy who is already in trouble with the law and been caught in a massive lie. Between the past where Winter tormented him, and Shane's own deception, the kidnapping becomes another wedge in their disasterly facade of a relationship. How will they get past this to see who the real threat is? Mysterious threatening notes, haunting nightmares, crazy cons, the danger is still out there...and now even in all the chaos, they have each other's backs.
Shane and Winter finally get to their ending. After all the drama that has affect their lives, Winter with the death of her sister and Shane with his own mistakes, on top of the horrendous bullying that affected both of their lives, they now team up to find out who is doing this to our girl. Plus, the 'reveal', wowzers. Crazy cuckcoo! Even in the final read the characters are going through so massive changes. Some sweet ones. Some gross ones. Ones that were bound to happen. Plus, as they still have not found complete solace in both their past actions, they cannot deny the string that attaches them together.
Wicked Games is the final book in the Hidden Valley Elite series. Featuring Winter and Shane, the book picks up from the time Winter was kidnapped and Shane was taken into an interrogation room. Winter wakes and finds the door to the room she is being held captive in was unlocked. She sees that she is at the place she dreads the most. McMillan Lake was the place where her sister, Summer, had been drowned, presumably by her mother. However, since her mind blocked so much of her memory, she had begun to think there was more to what had happened. Winter makes it to Estelle’s apartment. The elderly lady had known her family when she was younger. Meanwhile, Shane’s attorney has managed to get him released. Winter arrives at the police station after calling from Estelle’s apartment. She finds a note in her mailbox: "I hope you got the message. Next time, it won't be so easy to break free.” When the police don’t seem to take her seriously, Winter goes to Shane to ask for his help and apologize for how she had bullied him as a child. Who and why was someone targeting her?
Isla Vaughn never disappoints and this entire series was amazing with its characters. Each book had steamy romance scenes while featuring the individual personalities that were unique to each one. Shane and Winter both progress and heal from past trauma. With the unpredictable plot, there is never a dull moment to be found. This book easily earned a 5 star rating. I look forward to reading more of Vaughn’s books.
This series is such an awesome read about the four elite guys at Hidden Valley School and the girls they care for. I would suggest reading this series in order, not because you have to, but because it's a great series, and you get to see a lot about each of the main male characters as they are present in each other's stories and lives, being as they are all four related and best friends as well. Also note, this series has two books, a continuation duo for each of the four heroes, making it an eight-book series with a novella that comes before the first book in the series.
This is the conclusion to Shane and Winter’s story as well as the finale of the series, and though I'm sad to see it go, I'm so glad I found it to begin with. Isla Vaughn has written a phenomenal series here with love, danger, teen angst, drama, and so much more! I can't wait to see what this author does next!
Shane and Winter have both faced a lot in their lives and they both carry emotional baggage and damage from their pasts! Can two damaged souls learn to trust each other and find something beautiful within the other? Will the danger surrounding them come crashing down on them? Find out these answers and more in this amazing finale!
It is also amazing to get to see the 5-year time-lapse at the end of the book, where we can see what the couples are up to and how they have grown etc. or if they are still together. Because can these couples who have faced so much really get past their Savage, Brutal, Cruel, and Wicked realities to find their happily ever afters?
Winter wasn't always the nicest girl and while most thought it was her just being rude, it was actually because of the life she had been dealt and trying to keep people at great distance. But that is a part of her life she struggles to remember...what really happened? And why does everyone hate her?
Then there is Shane who remembers every bit of her rudeness, being at the brunt of it many times. That time in his life has haunted him for years, and now she is in his world again and claiming she doesn't remember any of it? Can he trust her and the words that fall out of her mouth, or is it just another game?
Wicked Ends picks right up where Wicked Games left off and it didn't take but a few minutes for me to be hooked on these two all over again. I have been thinking about them since I last left them and been wondering if things would work out the way I hoped. With trying to not give much away I will say it was and engaging and emotional journey that left me breathless at times and smiling at others... it was another perfect addition to this series! I loved these two so much and wasn't ready to say goodbye when the time came, they were so captivating and real, and the story they had to tell took me places I never saw coming! Highly recommend this perfectly penned duet, I promise it will be impossible to put down!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
This book was one of my absolute favorites in this whole series, and I have to say I loved all of them! Wicked Ends not only gave me the romance I have grown to adore from Isla Vaughn, but she also added in some deep dark mysteries to be solved as well, and boy was it fun to try to piece together all of the clues. I have loved getting to know all of the characters throughout this series, and the fact that they all continue to appear as featured characters as the next family member becomes the main character is just so amazing. What a great story of enemies to lovers that this book has given us with Shane and Winter, their stories from their childhoods are so heartbreaking to read about, but then to see everything that they go through in reconnecting as adults, adds to the intrigue of their relationship. I especially appreciated the bonus epilogue where we get to see into the future of what is going on in everyone's lives, such an amazing way to end a series that has become so wonderful to follow along with. If you haven't read any of the books in the Hidden Valley Elite series, you really should start back at the beginning, because each book builds upon the next book in the series. The only thing I regret is that the tale is over, but I cannot wait to see what the author has next in store for her next book or series, because she is an absolute amazing writer! @Brandy Rymer 12/2023
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This is an amazing ending to the duet and the entire series. It picks up right where Wicked Games ended. I would not start the series with this book. I think that is a given but I am just saying it. All of the books should be read in order in this series to really grasp onto the characters and their struggles. This book gave me some twists and turn from previous books that I didn't see coming. It is what kept me on the edge of my seat reading this book. I loved seeing the other characters of the series in this book. I love the secrets that were revealed and it made me fall even more in love with this series. This book has the mystery, the steam, the amazing character development, closure, and suspense that make it a page turner. I couldn't put the book down. I got mad at anyone who dare try to talk to me while I was reading. It is that good!!!! This series will be one that I will continue to reread, probably every year. I feel that with this book it almost makes you want to reread the whole series just to see if you can pick up on any hints throughout the other books that you missed the first time. This books is highly addictive and into it knowing you aren't going to get much done but reading.
Wicked Ends was the perfect ending to this essentially 10 book series. This was the final duet and probably the wildest. I love this author and everything I’ve read she’s written. This series is a slight guilty pleasure because it’s more garnered towards a younger generation, but that doesn’t mean everyone can’t enjoy it. We pick up where we left off in Shane and Winter’s story. Winter knows. Winter has also been kidnapped. Shane gets held as a suspect. Shane thinks Winter may have done it on purpose. Despite all that he decides to help her. He’s pulled to her and can’t imagine anything happening to her. Someone’s after Winter the matter is can Shane keep her safe. These two both come from some screwed up backgrounds. Shane’s life having more love and acknowledgment vs Winter’s family. The roller coaster is coming to an end, but not without some sharp twists and turns before the finish. It’s one of those books I read in one sitting. And I’m sad now since it’s all over. At some point I will go back and reread all of them in succession. All the duets slightly overlapped so one is revisiting previous stories at some point during book one of the next duet. Time for you to dig in and finish this duet and series!
Wow just wow. I have loved this series from the first book and knowing this was the last one made me torn. I was desperate to read it to find out what happens but also I didn't want it to end.
This is book 8 of the Hidden Valley Elite Series and the second part of Winter and Shane's story. In this story we finally learn the truth about what happened to Winter's sister all those years ago and trust me you will not believe the twist. And we are back with Winter and Shane as they are struggling with past demons and trying to forgive the past so that they can move forward. This is a very emotional story as we uncover the demons that plague not only Winter but Shane as well. They are 2 damaged souls that need that special someone to help them heal.
I read this book in one sitting even though I tried not to. A part of me feels sad that I have now finished my adventure with the 4 Hidden Valley Elite boys. I have watched them grow, mature, overcome obstacles, find love and also find peace. They all feel like family. It has been a long time since I have been completely captivated by a series and the characters within it. If you haven't read this series yet then you need to. You definately won't regret letting this family into your heart.
That ending was EPIC! I knew it was going to be good, the buildup from Wicked Games was great, and I had some ideas going in what might be happening. There is SO MUCH more going on there though, and much of it was unexpected. The backstory, the ties to past and present, much of it was gut wrenching. Seeing Winter meeting with her bio mom, and getting that closure. While it was necessary, you can tell that Katrina was never meant to be a mother. This also parallels the relationship between Joe and his boys, and you can see that Shane really wants that connection with his bio dad. Despite his twin, mom, and grandad discouraging it, he really hopes to have that connection, even when all signs are pointing him in a different direction. It’s heartbreaking.
So much happens between Winter and Shane, and a lot of what she did in the past effected Shane. At the same time as a grown man he wanted to hurt her back for what she did as a child. They have a lot to work through, but it’s clear they have a connection.
Absolutely loved this book, and the way the double epilogue at the end tied up the entire series!
Pure Perfection!!! Wicked Ends is Book 8 of the Hidden Valley Elite series and I loved every book and not only wrapping up the story of Winter and Shane but also the series in itself. I cannot say enough that this is a must read series. While I am sad this series has completed, I am looking forward to what this author has in store in the future. The feels I get....the angst, romance, secrets, danger, connections I did not see coming with twists and turns......I loved it all.
Danger is lurking at every corner and you do not know who to trust......Winter is in danger and does not even know it. Shane wants to make her pay for a past that is hard for him to get over. When Winter is in trouble, Shane needs to be there for her at all costs. What Shane needs to do is overcome his past, be honest with the people he loves the most...Secrets are revealed with cold hard truths. Will Shane and Winter be able to overcome their pasts and how dark they were?
I do not want to give any spoilers away...I could talk about this book and series forever.... if you like dark, college bully romance...do yourself a favor and read this series in order...
I finished Wicked Ends awhile ago and I sat on my review. I have a few mixed feelings on this. Winter and Shane's past comes to the present and we finally get Winter's past in full detail. To say my heart hurt for this young lady is an understatement. To be made to believe one thing entirely and to find out everything you thought was true was a lie, OH and the web of lies. The damn LIES in this book. Jesus you will need a damn notepad and paper to keep the lot of the straight. To say Shane and Winter's past are more interwoven then we actually knew! WHEW. Shane my man your story was the one I was waiting for I needed and craved it. I wanted to know how everything was going to work out for you. I needed to know how the dark and sullen young man was going to get his HEA. Boy did you get it. You had some growing up to do and had a few rough patches, but I think you got the life you deserve!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is the final book in the Hidden Valley Elite Series. I have loved reading this series so much and I am really super sad to see it ending. This is also the conclusion to Shane and Winter's story. I don't really know if I should tell you much about the story because it gets right down to business and it's that way to the very end. I am so in love with Shane and Winter and while she was a big old mystery in his brother's book I now have those answers I wanted so bad. I really loved that he is true and true Elite but really had a heart of gold. However we really see him go down a dark path. Poor Winter, she thought she had left all the darkness behind. They are two halves of on whole that could go in either direction but there is no doubt that they are perfect together and make each other better.
Wicked Ends by Isla Vaughn is book eight in the hidden valley elite series, as well as the second installment in Shane and Winters story. This book was everything I needed and more in terms of wrapping things up. There was SO MUCH happening but I’m so sad it’s over. The amount of secrets, lies that have been told and believed for years, the pain. My gosh these two kids (young adults) have been through everything. I could not put this book down because I needed to know what truly happened to Winters sister. How Shane is blamed for things he couldn’t have been apart of and just how everything was tied together. Sometimes it’s crazy how small of a world we live in and how people who should mean something in our lives can hurt us the worst. Overall, I’ve loved this series and am content with how things have been laid out. I’ve grown to be quite fond of Isla’s writing and am sad it’s over as I’ve loved all these characters.
Wicked Ends is the 8th and final book in the Hidden Valley Elite series. It picks up where Wicked Games leaves off, finishing the story of Shane and Winter. I'm so sad this series is over, as I have loved every bit of it, and am so invested in the characters. But I am happy with the way it ended, and glad the author gave us a well rounded epilogue. Shane and Winter were in a precarious situation at the end of the last book, and I was curious where things would go. There was so much going on in this book, and I didn't expect much of it. I'm glad we got the full story of Winter's childhood drama. The supporting characters in this book and series are wonderful. This series would make a great TV series- think Riverdale... teenage drama and a perfect friend group where everyone gets along and is dating each other. I hope the author is working on a new series, because my heart is hurting at the conclusion of this series.
Wicked Ends by Isla Vaughn is available now in eBook and Physical Book ⭐️⭐️⭐⭐⭐ Book Review
Wicked Ends is the 8th and final installment of the Hidden Valley Elite series. Wrapping up the series with the story of Winter and Shane will have you on the edge of your seat the entire 186 pages. The twists and turns in this plot will have you begging for more by the end. Full of angst, secrets, and redemption Shane and WInter fight past evils to make it through this one.
I have loved every single novel in this series, finding myself one of my newest favorite authors. Vaughn writes with such passion for her characters, each one with their flaws and obstacles in life that you learn to love and root for. Her story lines are relatable allowing you to put yourself in the novel right alongside her characters. I am sad to see this series end but even more excited to see what Vaughn has in store for her readers next. You won’t want to miss out on this series, PROMISE!
Wicked Ends: A Dark College Bully Romance (Hidden Valley Elite Book 8)
I know i have said this after every book in this series and it needs to be said again I am absolutely in love with this book and series. I hate to see it end, but their group goes out with a bang.
Winter and Shane's story continues, in this part 2 of their story. And I don't know where to begin since somuch happens and so many of my questions are answered about the past that I don't know if it could have ended any other way. One of my favorite scenes came close to the end, won't elaborate since it is an important part of the story, or at least I think so.
I loved watching everyone, especially the boys mature and grow. There were times throughout the book and series that I forgot they were high school/college age kids.
I'm looking forward to reading future books and series by Ms. Vaughn. I have a feeling I will love them as much as I have loved this one.
Oh my gosh! What an ending! Not only was Wicked Ends the conclusion to Shane and Winter’s story, but the entire Hidden Valley Elite Series. What a bittersweet moment reading the last few pages of this one. Isla Vaughn draws the reader in with superb world building; I could feel what the characters were feeling, I could see the world around them, and I connected with the characters. There is so much drama, suspense, passion, hate, and love in this book and it kept me on my toes! To say I was invested in not only this book, but the entire series, would be a supreme understatement. I was so worried and anxious for Winter not only being kidnapped, but dealing with the events of her past. There was so much growth in this whole series, and I love it! The Elite boys learn, grow, and become men and it is so wholesome and satisfying. Despite all the struggles throughout the books, this series ends in happiness! I can't wait to see what Isla Vaughn delivers after this!
OMG! All I can say is that the entire series is amazing! This is book 8 and just like the rest, this one did not disappoint! This book is the continuation of Shane and Winters's story and also the end of the series. Shane Bennett lied to Winter. How could she not recognize him? When Shane accidentally drops his wallet in her dorm Winter finally realizes Shane's true identity. But it is too late! Someone has kidnapped Winter and brought her to the one place that keeps her nightmares fresh in her mind. Although these two have a pretty troubling past that should keep them apart, it is exactly the thing that helps push them together. When Winter gets a surprise visit from one of her professors Winter learns the disturbing truth about her sister's murder. This book is not only a sweet romance but a thriller. It was a page-turner from the first book in the series. I am sad to come to the end of the Hidden Valley Elite Series but can’t wait to see what else this author comes out with.
