3.5⭐️ A collection of short horror stories. A couple of them were really gruesome and really made me think what on earth which I didn’t expect and made me enjoy them more! Also loved the description and background on each story before going into the next one
Most of the stories are entertaining but all of them gave me the chills. I liked Home Sweet Home and Conquistador as well as Ghosts of Christmas past. The Baptist was good too. The endings were surprising and unexpected.
I would not have started this collection off with Conquistador as its graphic sex and rape almost made me delete the ebook and move on. However, i thought I’d give the second story a chance and the rest of the collection is rather good, though graphic horror.
Gore aside, you will find sex and sexual assault in some of the other stories, but not blow by blow as you will find in the first. Also, I enjoyed the author’s description before each story as to how he arrived at the idea for each tale.
This collection has sat on my shelf for a while (busy times) but now I'm asking myself why. From the minute I picked it up, I was drawn into each of the stories woven, the characters, the worlds created. There's something for everyone in here with a lean towards the supernatural, but without a doubt the writing is well crafted, with a strong pull that kept me turning the page. I also really loved that each story has it's background, a little flicker into the life of the writer. Honestly, not to be missed.
Most of the stories in here were creepy, but they all felt similar. They were also very violent sexually which I'm not the biggest fan of. Definitely give it a try if you like horror anthologies.
