Aren't the views just ravishing?
Where the sunrises start and the day begins is where fourteen-year-old, Azalea Stanton waits patiently, watching the beauty of the world unfold. No one fully understands her wanderlust or ache for adventure, but is it truly so horrible to want to escape the shadow of her older sister, Florence? When the opportunity finally presents itself, offering an escape from the small town of Lorretta, Azalea is suddenly aware of how many challenges the world holds. From soirees to aiding and harboring a runaway, Azalea's adventurous spirit is tested time and time again. The city of Brockschmidt offers more than just the prospect of finding a husband for Florence, whom Azalea comes to realize is not as different from her as she previously believed. The trick of life is the spontaneity of it all, and we do not realize what we have in our possession until it slips between our fingers.

To her mother’s dismay, fourteen-year-old Azalea’s free spirit cannot be contained, nor her thirst for adventure. Azalea has grown tired of living in Florence’s shadow. Florence’s beauty and genteel manner are the epitome of ladylike and often the reason for Azalea’s fiery jealousy. The lure of city life fills her heart with excitement, so when she has the chance to travel to Brookschmidt with her mother and sister, she relishes the experience. The plan is to find a suitable bachelor for Florence to marry.

Still, as soon as they get to the city, Azalea is faced with the sobering reality of life outside their small town—from being held at gunpoint to assisting a runaway, she realizes there is much to learn. Moreover, a heart-to-heart with her proves they might not be so different after all.

“Eunoia,” the first installment in the series by Hannah Bree Campbell, is an enticing historical fiction book rich in action and wanderlust. Toggling between the small town of Loretta and the bustling city of Brookschmidt, readers are regaled by the changing landscape and the diversity of its inhabitants. As soon as Azalea steps foot in the progressive city, she is impressed but feels wildly inadequate.

From modern fashions to the high-caliber education the residents receive, it is a whole new world. The unpredictability and excitement of the vibrant city are constant reminders that the Stanton ladies are far from home, and Azalea learns the quick pace of city life is different from what she expected. This coming-of-age novel highlights the young girl’s naivete when being thrust into situations beyond her scope of knowledge.

Azalea was a brilliant choice for a protagonist. Her free spirit and penchant for unconventionality made for entertaining scenarios, like putting insufferable boys in their place and speaking her mind freely when it was frowned upon. The young teen made it clear that she had no desire to dim her sparkle to assimilate, which is admirable. Despite this being the cause of much friction between her and her mother, Azalea was quite content doing things her way. She reminded me that you cannot force a square peg into a round hole, no matter how hard you try, and you shouldn’t have to!

“Eunoia” by Hannah Bree Campbell places a strong emphasis on identity. We must not be afraid to reveal our authentic selves to the world, as this is the key to happiness. Readers who love historical adventure and the quest for self-discovery will undoubtedly be captivated by a small-town girl’s travels to the city. I look forward to the second book in the series!

Azalea, the main character, goes through the journey of trying to find her place in the family and out of her older sister’s shadows. A perfect theme of coming of age, finding oneself and more!I really enjoy reading this novel, the first book in the series. I am new to this author as well. I enjoy the writing style. If you enjoy a book with a historical theme, be aware of the end of the book, the twist and bring a lot of tissues, because you will be crying, you would definitely like this book! I can not wait to read the next book in the series! I give this book 4 out of 5 stars!

In this book, the young girl (14 y) Azalea Stanton is growing up in the shadow of her older sister. She wants a change and seeks for adventure.

Main theme in this book is coming of age and searching for its place and purpose in the world. It’s a very recognizable chapter in our lives, the curiosity and search of purpose and belonging.

I enjoyed this book because the writer has a fabulous way in bringing a whole world with all its beauty and intrigues to live. It was a delight for my mind to enjoy all the graphics that were carefully written down! Also the story was gripping, it even brought tears in my eyes at the end. 🥹

I highly recommend this book if you like a good story and aren’t afraid to be touched, because that will definitely be the case! 💝

This was an interesting book. It felt very much like a world building book for about 80% of it. Then a twist happened at the end that brings about changes in the characters life that set them on a whole new path! You get to learn about Azalea & her family. The way life was when she was younger & how in just a few short years her life could change. Her mother takes her with her & her older sister to Brockschmidt. The closest city in the New state of Wyoming. They are going to take Florence (her big sister) for the courting season. It is an interesting trip & season in the city. At the end of the season is when things get interesting & take a turn. I at first that this was a historical romance, but at the moment it feels like a historical adventure with a sprinkle of romance. I’m curious to see hope this will continue.

Azalea is a free spirit that’s being forced to act like a lady simply because her sister is destined to be married. Dragged along to the big city when she’d rather be on the farm, she discovers so much about herself, her mother and her sister. Like most sisters their relationship has its highs and lows but Azalea finds her true kindred spirit in her sister, as shocking as that may be. From the beautiful plains and rolling hills to fancy dinners and balcony romance, this young teen experiences more than she could have foreseen.
Campbell writes in details that help the reader paint a picture in their mind of how Wyoming would’ve looked in the late 1800’s. She gave the main character so much spirit and had her face such a vast array of things. I did feel the story left me wanting. It doesn’t feel finished. It’s the only reason for a three star instead of a four. I didn’t experience the typical climax and then plot coming together as I do with most reads. That being said it did leave the door open for another book. Perhaps that’s the authors intention? I feel Azaleas story isn’t finished.

3.5 stars

Azalea is the portrait of a curious and outspoken youth trying to navigate her way through a society bound by rules that confound her. The author describes each scene with such beautiful detail that you truly feel like you are there.

I especially adored the scenes with Evelyn and Russell and wish we had gotten more with them. I was so excited and intrigued by those big events and thought they would have had a larger impact on the story than they did.

The ending felt rushed, as though the author wasn't quite sure how to pause this story to lead in to the sequel.

I also felt a little mislead by the author describing this as "cowboy romance"on socials, as there was hardly any romance and only a couple pages of a cowboy. It was more like Western Bridgerton, which is great on its own without having to attempt to lure readers with other tropes.

I did still enjoy her writing style and am invested in the characters and plan to read the sequel!

I don’t usually read in this particular genre but the storyline grabbed my attention and I wasn’t disappointed.

Young Azalea appreciates the beauty of her world but has an urge to explore life outside of what she knows. She has the desire to step away from the shadow of her older sister, Florence. Her sister who is the perfect example of refinement. Her excitement is uncontainable when she travels to Brookschmidt with her mother and sister to find a husband for Florence. Soon, she learns that things are very different from her home. And, that she and Florence are more alike than she’d ever imagined.

Be prepared to lose yourself in this author’s ability to create a charming story. Her character development is superb as she brings them to life. The writing is sharp and entertaining. The scenery setting is flawless. I absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants a chance to visit a different time and place in history.

Eunoia by Hannah Bree Campbell

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In Eunoia by Hannah Bree Campbell we are introduced to Azalea Staton, a young, strong woman who believes she knows what she wants in life and finds out what matters most instead.

Campbell had me intrigued after every chapter. There were times I had to set the novel aside because it was emotional. There’s a ton of triggers in this one, mostly trauma and grief. If you are sensitive to death, then I would recommend reading a light hearted story while reading Eunoia. That said, I recommend this Historical Fiction novel to anyone who wants to explore a new story that shows strength without reservation. A wonderful read and a strong debut!!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I received an ARC from the author, in exchange for my honest review.

I love historical fiction, and sometimes connect more deeply with it because it provides me with an escape, and this was wonderful to read.

The protagonist is fourteen-year-old Azalea, who lives with her family in the small town of Loretta. O first impressions, I felt the writing had a whimsical quality about it, and I felt somehow that Azalea would be a special character; one who would make an impression on me. Following Azalea's narrative, I connected deeply with her. There was something about the way she articulated herself that tugged at my heartstrings. I identified with her love of books, and in some ways, she made me think of my younger self. It seemed that she often felt misunderstood by others. I loved following Azalea's journey, and the latter part of the book made me quite emotional in a way that I didn't expect.

Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC copy to review.

**ARC READ**

Azalea has lived under the shadow of her older sister her entire life, and while she has made do with this fact, being the second child produces its own set of challenges. When she, her mother, and Florence travel to a nearby city to see if they can secure a husband for Florence. Adventures await and friendships are forged in the city, but heartbreak meets the Stanton family upon arrival home.

This is a beautiful coming of age story. Campbell writes from the perspective of Azalea and I loved getting to see the events through her eyes. The last 40 pages though? Total. Cryfest. I sobbed so hard it shook my dog awake. I cannot wait to read about the Stanton family's future after this event, and watch them heal. The writing style in this was right up my alley for books set in this time in history, and its made me want to do more research about society during then too. Please get your hands on this book and a box of tissues while you're at it.

In all honesty I thought this was so well written. Following the young life of Azalea and her travels with her take on life. Following all Azaleas adventures and the conversations she would have that were supposedly “inappropriate “ . It’s Howe one learns about life and when you introduce country to city you never know what you going to get. Oh how intriguing this story became as it went on as it is set late 1800’s where they travelled on stage coaches and went to soirées in the hope to meet their future husbands.
All in all I really enjoyed going back in time with this one and reading something outside of my usual.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5 stars)

Eunoia is a beautifully written piece of historical fiction that follows Azalea through a pivotal year of her life at age 14. The story captures her journey of self-discovery as she navigates shifting relationships with her sister, cousin, and parents—all while battling feelings of being overlooked, second best, or simply not enough. Against the backdrop of her adventures, Azalea’s resilience and quiet bravery shine. The ending moved me to tears as she faced life’s hardships with courage and grace, making this a heartfelt and memorable read.

This is Azalea's story .It is set in the late 1800's. She is the younger of two daughter. Her sister, Florence, is the daughter who does everything right. Azalea is more of a free spirit who speaks her mind. Since Flo is 18years old they head to the city to find her a husband. This story chronicles their struggles along the way. The more difficult things get, the more Azalea blossoms. It is a story of heartbreak and a story of growth. A good read.

I liked this book, reminded me so much of my little brother, who was determined to make his own way in this world and Thirsted for adventure of his own mKing not someone else's. I truly felt though as parts of this book I was reading about him. I loved how much I could tie it in to my world. This was a great read and would recommend it to anyone to add to their tbr.

I am not a big fan of reading books based in time of wagons, and in the older days. I decided to give it a try anyways and I actually really enjoyed this book. It did take me a little bit to get into it but the ending was not what I was expecting. I wish there would be another book to come as I am so interested in what would come next.

I don’t normally read historical fiction books like Eunoia, but I liked it. It had a different vibe to it than the books I usually read.

At 14-years-old Azalea leaves home for a life of adventure and unexpected revelations.

I really liked how Azalea wanted to separate herself from her sister Florence and show that although they are siblings they are different.

This is a flowery coming of age story set in Wyoming in the late 1890's. Azalea shares many characteristics of Anne Shirley. Flights of fancy. Word vomit at the worst times. Anyone who enjoyed Anne of Green Gables will love this story.

This was an adorable coming of age story about Azalea Stanton who lives in Wyoming in the 1890s. It was reminiscent of childhood favorites Anne of Green Gables and Little House on the Prairie with hints of gossip and society like in Bridgerton or a regency romance. There are hints of romance which will likely pick up more in the next book as Azalea grows up even more.

A wonderful historical fiction encompassing themes of family, friendship, love, and new beginnings. Azalea is a lovely, free-spirited fourteen-year-old who goes through life filled with wonder, curiosity, and imagination. She loves her family though her relationship with her sister Florence could use some mending. The relationship between the two sisters is my favorite part of this story. Azalea and Florence are so different and their beliefs often clash with one another, but in the end, they are still connected by the bond of sisterhood. We follow Azalea as she, Florence, and her mother travel from her small country home to the bustling city where despite being the odd one out Azalea discovers more about herself. Though the writing seemed dense at times and some recollections seemed a little out of place, I loved reading this book. The focus on self-love, self-discovery, and kindness is what I will always remember when I think of Eunoia. The ending completely shattered me and I can't wait to follow Azalea on more adventures.

If you love historical fiction, then check this book out. There are a few instances of romance too in this book if that appeals to you more than family dynamics. Perfect for fans of Anne of Green Gables and Little Women.
