In this beautifully illustrated yuri/Girls' Love fairy tale, a wolf-woman butler must tutor a sheep princess who's not as soft as she looks!
Aki Rikujo, a Wolfa, works as a butler at the royal castle in the land of Sheepa. Her quiet and peaceful days get shaken up when she saves the life of Princess Momo Shiudafaris. The shy sheep princess immediately latches onto Aki who, before she knows it, becomes the princess’s private tutor. Momo wants more than just math lessons from Aki, and even sneaks into the wolf-woman’s bedroom to seduce her! Aki soon realizes that, under the timid woolly exterior, Momo is a wild animal!
Aki’s a wolf and her boss is a sheep. Cross-pollination from other titles aside, Aki is indeed one of the servants of Princess Momo. But the princess is hiding a bit of a baa’d side that could see us in for some furry yuri in a bit of a hurry.
This is saccharine with a side of steam and it absolutely is exactly what it appears to be. Aki has lots of decorum and a bit of a hidden side, which is drawn out by Momo’s ‘only somewhat hidden until it is blatant’ side, which wants Aki real bad in the exact way you think.
These two nearly go at it in the first chapter, so needless to say it doesn’t waste much time on set-up. Or plot, if we’re being honest. This is a bunch of dates and near dates and aside from some vague hints that Momo has some past trauma it is just about bashful looks and Momo trying to get what she wants.
Which is fine. This is a confection book, through and through. Even outside the fantasy trappings, none of this is believable or real worldly, but that’s entirely missing the point. The princess wants her gay happy ending and she’s damn well going to get it.
So, flirting and glances for days. Aki and her fellow wolves fill out a suit like nobody’s business. Momo’s maid is harried because you would be too trying to put up with these people, but she recognizes how good Aki is with, and for, the princess. Basically what you expect.
Side characters are just Aki’s coworkers, although I really did like the one with a crush on Aki and the other one with a crush on the first one who couldn’t be more obvious when Aki gets all the attention. They’re a really fun background pairing.
If you want to just turn your brain off and don’t have an issue with furries, this is a good time. It looks to be a short series and I think another volume will definitely have said everything this premise has to say. The art’s super cute and it’s all entirely fluffy. Which might be really on brand now that I think about it.
3 stars - it’s sweet, maybe too sweet, but if you want exactly the story that you’re being promised then there are no surprises here. For both the good and bad that statement entails. En-tails? I’ll save that one for next time.
It was very fluffy and very cute. Ther character feel pretty flat, not a whole lot of personality going on outside of the standard trope of sweet cutesy princess and stoic but naive bodyguard/servant. This was extremely short however so my expectations of having well defended character wasn't very high to begin with. Over all a simply cute read.
Absolutely love love love the art style of this! I love how cutesy it is and how cute Momo looks! While I feel their relationship was a bit rushed I would love to see more and hopefully see more character development!
If you are not interested in manga that involves yuri and possibly intimate moments though no actually nudity was noticed so far then you might not care for this series. The artwork is pretty nice though and in general it is not to bad when it comes to the relationship so far even though the description describes the primarily shy princess as a wild animal.
Having read I'm a Wolf, but My Boss is a Sheep! Vol. 1 I was instantly curious if this book was similar considering the Sheepa Princess Momo is considered shy and Aki is a Wolfa (I know...real original species names) working in her castle. True it is the same boss/worker mentality but there are some differences with the major revel that the princess is not ashamed so much to go into the room of her servant and expose herself while Aki's mind was already being affected by the full moon. With such an aggressive stance almost right at the beginning I was surprised to see the rest of the volume simmered down quite a bit from this steamy late night encounter and became a story more about getting to know each other better then about the baser instincts either may share. You see while the other story I read has an underlying story about racial misunderstandings making predator/prey couples super rare this one seems to establish both Sheepa and Wolfa can trust one another though caution should be taken under the full moon. Honestly regardless of the initial similarities between the two series this one has its own charms and I look forward to seeing more when it comes out. :)
This is a very cute start to a 5 volume story and it was easy to enjoy Aki and Princess Mimi’s dynamic with each other. Aki is very amusing in her obliviousness and the Princess is very likable. I also enjoyed seeing the Princess’s maid and seeing her being so supportive of the future relationship. I’m curious to see what happens throughout the rest of the story.
I have a few thoughts. 1) why did Momo have to literally look like a child it was so weird and uncomfortable. Also, they made her refer to herself in the third person at all times which makes her even more childlike. and with how kind of steamy this gets at times it was just icky overall. 2) all of that drama about "you're the princess and I'm just your butler" and "she will be married off to some random prince and you will have to break up" just for the queen to go... yeah you can marry her its chill. It's so disappointing and I know the whole vibe of this manga was mainly focused on fluff and cute Yuri but I felt that they shouldn't have built up such a big problem and solved it in like 1 page?? For example, I feel like this could have been a lot more interesting if we actually had some consequences for Aki being seen with the princess and maybe them having to fight a little more to be together. (1 conversation doesn't count i want to see Aki in prison, Momo rebels against her parents and breaks her out and then they make a crazy ultimatum to eventually get what they want!) It's really just so annoying because as you're reading it's just drilled into you at the start that Momo will eventually be married. so yeah you see all these cute scenes with them being together but what you're internally thinking is wow it's going to hurt so much more when eventually the angst arc hits. AND THEN THERE IS NO CONFLICT AT ALL!!!! It doesn't ever seem like Momo considers the fact she is putting her butler at serious risk with all her advances and she never even considers her role as a princess. She just comes across as an extremely naive and brainless character who gets everything she wants in the end with the smallest amount of resistance from Aki who immediately caves and you're just left feeling unsatisfied. I'm not even happy they got married I'm just bored out of my mind. 3) Aki kind of randomly started liking Momo and I feel like we should have had a little more build-up and slow burn. she was so adamant about "I'm your butler you're a princess" that it was so random when she suddenly started being in love with her the next chapter.
Oof, talk about one-sided insta love.. there was zero development, just rushing ahead at break-neck speed with no plot and poor world building.
The princess couldn't be any more baby-like either, so that was really off-putting. Makes her being so forcefully sexual even more jarring than it already is, idk her using the full moon to get what she wants feels kinda rapey and I'm not buying their "romantic tension" at all.
cw: sexual content, lack of consent, classism I guess
Nothing much to it. Cute art, cute characters, a horny princess wants her hot wolf servant. Starts off like its gonna be a smutty book but is just cute for the rest.
I'm in for Volume 2. Because I am a simp. Please give me a hot wolf servant with tiny grandma glasses.
3.5★ rounding up because the art was quite gorgeous!! this went from 0-100 real quick and in the beginning I was really worried I would end up not liking this at all. thankfully, though the start of the relationship was SO underdeveloped/rushed, this turned into a pretty cute and sweet romance between a princess and her tutor-turned-bodyguard. I am going to jump straight into the next volume!

4 stars. The artwork is gorgeous. Couldn’t get enough. The backgrounds, the clothing, the character designs, just all so beautiful to look at. The story itself if sweet and the characters are so cute and likable. This was a very good first volume and I cannot wait for volume two!
very cute and funny girls love comic! I was worried about ages at first but the princess just has sort of a baby face (I guess because she's a sheep?), she's actually of-age as far as I can tell.
I love the art style. How cute every character is even the background characters. With the wolf, sheep, cat, and dog motifs. It's so cute with a side of a thing I love, Yuri love it.
