Chris Claremont is a writer of American comic books, best known for his 16-year (1975-1991) stint on Uncanny X-Men, during which the series became one of the comic book industry's most successful properties.
Claremont has written many stories for other publishers including the Star Trek Debt of Honor graphic novel, his creator-owned Sovereign Seven for DC Comics and Aliens vs Predator for Dark Horse Comics. He also wrote a few issues of the series WildC.A.T.s (volume 1, issues #10-13) at Image Comics, which introduced his creator-owned character, Huntsman.
Outside of comics, Claremont co-wrote the Chronicles of the Shadow War trilogy, Shadow Moon (1995), Shadow Dawn (1996), and Shadow Star (1999), with George Lucas. This trilogy continues the story of Elora Danan from the movie Willow. In the 1980s, he also wrote a science fiction trilogy about female starship pilot Nicole Shea, consisting of First Flight (1987), Grounded! (1991), and Sundowner (1994). Claremont was also a contributor to the Wild Cards anthology series.
My last 2 omnis of the year were the House of M omni and this one. They are truly a mixed bag, which is to be expected when you are taking in over 2,000 pages of story. The Civil War: House of M issues are required reading and I wish they were a part of the main collection. House of M: Avengers is a street level tale of Luke Cage leading warring street factions, and I enjoyed it a lot. Suggested read. New Avengers (2004) #16–20 is what happens after House of M omni. Worth reading. The Masters of Evil stuff was more fun than it had a right to be. I love any story when the villains gang up and try to do stuff. The What ifs are serviceable, but ultimately forgettable. I've been reading about 12-15 omnis per year for several years now and I think the key is not to pound the material you really aren't digging. I give every side series a shot, just in case, but when I find myself frustrated, bored or indifferent, I move on *coughCaptainBritaincough* I'll add that I enjoyed a lot of the material in the companion as much as the best parts of the main story omni, so the whole thing was lifted by the choice to read both back to back. Glad I read it, some forgettable stuff, some skippable, but some that will stick with me. I'll give the experience of reading both a 3.75/5 on the whole.
