Becoming Light #2

Bound to Light

Rate this book
1860. Emma is struggling with her new life as a housemaid in her distant cousin’s Scottish estate. And Will, the Pleaiadian who seems to grow more handsome each day, has been too busy working as the estate’s stable hand to help Emma learn how to use her Light abilities.

But when Morgana returns with demands to hand over an ancient and powerful tool called a lúth, Emma makes a series of desperate decisions that result in Will losing his Pleaiadian abilities and becoming possessed by an Annunaki.

To save Will, Emma teams up with Laudine, a housemaid from the old estate who reveals herself to be a Knight of Camelot. Together, they journey to the legendary city to find the lúth. But when they arrive, Emma discovers that the lúth can give her everything she’s been striving for: the ability to become Light on command and protect her loved ones from the Annunaki.

Now, she must decide: Bind herself forever to the lúth and fight Morgana, or hand over the world's most powerful weapon in exchange for Will’s life.

Seeing Emma navigate a new predicament, removed from the society and drama of the London tonne, added fresh intrigue and depth to her journey.

The introduction of Gwen was a standout highlight for me, and the Camelot storyline paired magical elements with a setting that felt grand and deeply impactful. While I don’t want to reveal too much, it stood out because it carried an emotional weight that added richness to the overall plot. The dynamics between Emma and Will were wonderfully developed, and I loved seeing Ambrosius evolve as a character. While critiques of his nature were evident in the first book, they became much more prominent for me in this installment, adding a fascinating new layer to his role in the story. The foundations of Emma and Gwen’s relationship were also beautifully laid, establishing a pivotal connection for the rest of the series.

This book made me excited to continue the adventure while giving me more time with these beloved characters. Sarah Long has a way of crafting stories that are immersive, heartfelt, and impossible to put down.
