Even if it Costs me my Life: Systemic Constellations and Serious Illness

Rate this book
Family constellations work has broadened and developed in many different fields as a method of counseling and therapy. In addition to constellations in organizations and schools, applying this approach to working with illness and disease has expanded the potential for healing effects in the field of medicine as well. A view of transgenerational entanglements and family dynamics casts a new light on health and disease, and the insights gained from constellations with illness and health problems have led to a more holistic view of those who are ill. In Even if it Costs me my Life , Stephan Hausner aims to provide a picture of the healing potential of systemic constellations, entering into the reciprocal effects of family dynamics and illness. Extensive use of case studies demonstrates this technique in action, revealing how existing illnesses and pathologies are rooted within the family dynamic, and setting up healing postures to facilitate growth, development, and direction.

If you are interested in Family Constellations, this is a must-read. Taking a practical approach, Hausner goes through one practical case after another in this book.
As I am not into the field, at some point the book seemed repetitive but if you are a therapist, this should be a guide and inspiration 👌

Vērtīga grāmata, lai labāk izprastu sistēmisko sakārtojumu procesu. Lasītais ļāva dziļāk skatīt slimību cēloņus,kas bieži nav saistīts ar to ko redzam acu priekšā.

"Games" to cure a mind & body.
At first, I considered seeing that book as a collection of creepy fairy tails. Finally, as a healing Role Playing Game(s) (RPG). Game(s) aiming for "Peace of mind" (mainly with examples in intimate areas of family issues).

"Chessboard" theatre with the web of bio-psycho-socio connections.
Conflict(s), unfulfilled expectations, tough cases, traumas, speaking with the family member(s) and/or significant other(s), the disease, death, dead and/or unborn.

Bringing the cases from the edge or beyond of the awareness.
That "Game" help to translate difficult aspects into a deeper feeling of inner peace.
That "RPG" game helps to experiment with new combinations, dynamics and feelings, a new configuration of relationships. (Among others, reviewing belonging, inclusion and exclusion.) Analysing the locations and positions of the avatars, their words and behaviours.
That "self-help" book can help the reader and/or the game participant.

Big minus is for the book "Readability". There are fragments which can be entitled "Look how smart I am". Sections with unnecessary jargon, and/or long sentences. Three examples: "8-lines-long" sentence (p. 300) followed by 4 "5-line-long" sentences (p. 301) or "13-lines-long" sentence (p. 312).

P.S. As an IT guy, for me the closest known term is "RPG" (Role Playing Game). I wonder why "RPG" games have so many labels in that book, like: "Family Constellations", "Orders of Love", "Constellations", "Systemic Constellations", "Systems Constellations"; (and/or TA, and/or Gestalt "family reconstruction"), etc.
As for me, the added value of the variety of the labels here is as tiny as a single hair. It would be more valuable to show more examples. Even if the chapter #2 " Case Studies, Feedback, and Comments" is already bigger than all the other chapters combined.
