A gardener's almanac is a very useful and traditional tool and this is is very good.
It must be used in paper and i would be delighted to use one and thing that other people who like gardening would.
Highly recommended.

V helpful little book for a newbie navigating their first year of gardening!

I always look forward to Almanac edition books; therefore, 'The Gardener's Almanac 2024' has kept me very hopeful that I could acquire this. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher!
Right, where do I even start?! If you are into gardening, then this month-by-month guide will keep you intrigued. Each month dives into what you should do and actually 'walks the talk' with you rather than just giving you general info on what to plant and harvest. The book is packed with extra tips on how to help wildlife, garden events, places to visit, and draw inspiring ideas for your garden, and much more.
I like that the Almanac actually has a section for notes. I would love this if I had a hard copy, but as this is an ARC and PDF, I can't - a note to remember if you plan on using this book. Probably, it is also like a diary for your gardening journey throughout the year, so it's best to acquire an actual book.
Each month gives a timetable of sunrise and sunset, weather charts, and cool project ideas to do that don't require a lot of time. I love that each month it also reminds you of what wildlife you should keep an eye out for - it's a lovely book that helps the reader connect with nature even more. Thoroughly recommend!

A brilliant monthly guide to the gardening year. Informative and easy to follow.
Each month begins with an introduction and a short quote, eg. March quote from Vita Sackville-West - 'The more one gardens, the more one learns; and the more one learns, the more one realises how little one knows.'
Useful information includes sunrise and sunset times, little projects to undertake, dates for garden events of that month,, and wildlife to look out for. I shall find particularly helpful the section on National Trust Gardens At Their Best - for daffodils, Coughton Court.
Little bits of trivia such as a yew tree at Shugborough has a crown of 175m add a touch of fun.
There are delightful linocut drawings throughout.
This book would be useful for both the beginner and the seasoned gardener.

The Gardners Almanac for 2024 by Greg Loades is a must have for gardeners everywhere.
The book is well written and set out. It has tasks for every month of the year and ideas for things to start growing that month. An ideal book for the new gardener or perfect for someone like me who has gardened for years but really still isn't sure of what they are doing and in which month. (The pruning sections of each month are ideal for me here as I never know the right times to cut things back.)
The book also has events at National Trust Grounds for each month too.
This would be an ideal stocking filler for the Gardener in your life. Ive given it 5 stars but I would have given it more if I could.

This is a really well laid out almanac that takes you through each month and lists a ton of things to do each month along with other really interesting nature related things!
There are some lovely images and quotes throughout, along with sunrise and sunset times for the year ahead which are really useful. And then it gets into the gardening advice and tasks for each month to help get you organised, along with projects you might like to undertake, the plants of the month and even ways to help wildife which is a really good addition!
There's space too for your own notes so you can keep it all in one place, and also features National Trust gardens for you to visit at their best time of the year. It covers all aspects of gardening and wildlife really well so made for an enjoyable read and will help any gardener through the year!

Every month starts with an introduction highlighting the beauty of the month that will be discussed, as well as sunrise/sunset and weather charts.
For every month, there are tasks listed and explained with things to start, such as planting new hedges, and things to finish, such as harvesting your pumpkins. Every month, there is something to prune and something to savour and also a thrifty project, from taking cuttings to maintaining your gardening equipment. There is a head gardener’s job of the month, as well as plants and birds of the month, and wildlife to look for, including tips and tricks to help wildlife by doing (or not doing) a few things around your garden. There are also garden events listed for every month and which National Trust Gardens are at their best. A page to write down your notes for next year (what worked this year and what didn’t, what would you like to try next year) concludes each chapter, and sprinkled throughout are quotes, e.g. by Emily Brontë and William Wordsworth, as well as garden(ing) trivia.
I definitely learned a thing or two and I’ve already jotted down a few things to keep in mind for next year.

This is a gem of a book, the perfect gift for the gardener in your life, with something for everyone, novice or expert.
Set out month by month with practical tips and advice, inspiration from head gardeners of various National Trust gardens, places to visit, plant picks and wildlife to look out for, as well as the sunrise/set times throughout the year and average temperature charts, this is definitely the kind of book you could both read in one sitting and keep dipping into throughout the year
The author Greg Loades’ passion for his subject shines through and the linocut illustrations by Joanna Lisowiec are delightful, I would happily have any of them on my wall!

"The Gardener’s Almanac 2024" is great for garden lovers like myself. I particularly appreciated the "How to Help Wildlife" sections, which will add an eco-conscious dimension to my gardening. I would love to have a physical copy of this book to make the most of the monthly note-taking areas, they look incredibly useful for tracking progress and to look back on in the future. This beautiful almanac includes thoughtful touches of mindfulness, making it a truly enriching companion for the year ahead. Would make a wonderful gift for either yourself or a gardener. Highly recommended!

Comprehensive but compact guide to enjoying your garden to the fullest through the year.
Separated into monthly chapters, this handy book contains daylight times, weather charts, tasks to do now for your garden and to support wildlife, insights into the work being done in various National Trust gardens, and the garden events and National Trust gardens to visit this month, as well as a handy section to note what has and hasn't worked and what to try next year.

This almanac is full of interesting and useful information. It offers month by month suggestions of what you should be doing to maximise success throughout the year. As with all the National Trust books I have read, it is well presented and beautifully illustrated. Thank you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
