Can you be highly sensitive and highly successful?
For the highly sensitive person committed to entrepreneurial and life success, this little book holds the potential for big impact. Years of mentoring and real-time practical research have highlighted these secret concerns among highly sensitive people:
Why am I so different? What’s wrong with me? How do I keep from being found out? And, at the heart of it all: How can I be of service to others without drowning in overload and overwhelm?
Filled with ancient wisdom, practical applications, and personal stories from both Heather Dominick and members of the Business Miracles Community for Highly Sensitive Leaders, this book brings a fresh, empowered perspective to what it means to be highly sensitive.
If you're a highly sensitive adult trying to live in today's world, then I suggest reading this book. That's the gist of it. This book has a lot of great information.
This book helps you to navigate the difficulties of being a highly sensitive person and embrace the strengths that come with high sensitivity. Instead of being stuck in limiting beliefs and anxiety, you can learn to act from a place of trust and courage.
I love that this book focuses on trusting your own intuition and living out your true values. I was especially interested in the section about replacing resistance with resilience. I tend to be a fearful person, so it was lovely to be encouraged to live with bravery!
The only thing that I didn't enjoy about this book was the constant anecdotes. I was looking for a book with just the facts, but this book has a lot of stories from different people about their own experiences with high sensitivity and how they applied the methods of the author to overcome their traumas and be more fulfilled. It is nice to see how these ideas can be applied in real life! However, it wasn't exactly the style that I was looking for.
I liked the writing style of the author! It feels very personal and authentic, like you are just having a conversation with the author over a cup of coffee. It feels like the author comes alongside you to encourage and coach you.
There are several charts that illustrate the methods in the book, showing how we can move beyond our fears and into creativity and strength. I really liked that visual element that helped to demonstrate the ideas in the text.
This book is so inspiring!

This book did three things very effectively: 1. Stated clearly that information derived from intuition is a viable alternative for making decisions, and our societal snootiness towards intuition is ready to get checked. 2. Provided helpful tools, some of which could provide insight while reading it. I especially enjoyed the let go/ let in exercise. 3. Honestly put real experiences of highly sensitive people who are growing beyond coping and people pleasing.
There isn't the introductory fluff, which I appreciated because it didn't need to rationalize the existence of HSP. I'm so interested to hear how people out of the program read it, as I see it as a reference book to Heather's training program.
My favorite part was the end of the book at the contributing authors and acknowledgements, where the bios are. Folks who have, by Dominick’s definition, been othered and fallen more aggressively in socialization pain had bios that were visible, proud, and (since I know them) also totally the truth.
I'm convinced that if more empaths and highly sensitives were ready to take on personal responsibility and let go of taking things personally, we’ll have a chance at saving the world.
This was one of the freshest and most relatable reads on the world of business and entrepreneurship that I’ve read in a long time. The author did a fantastic job of utilizing both personal stories, research, and the power of intuition to showcase the lessons that she learned in her time as a business leader herself. The way the author showcases how the COVID pandemic gave way to the rise of remote work and entrepreneurship as a whole and honed in on the isolation and uniqueness that sensitive people have was great to see come to life as a common theme in the book.
The heart of this book rested in the author's ability to bridge the gap between business and energy work in the world. The way author was able to showcase that for too long readers have been taught to be cutthroat and closed off as a leader in the world of business, and the evolution that leadership has taken is shown in earnest within this book. The lessons and teachings that the author utilizes within the book help benefit the reader both in a professional and personal sense, making this a well-rounded read.
The Verdict
Captivating, informative, and engaging, author Heather Dominick-Kosmicki’s “Different: The Highly Sensitive Leadership Revolution” is a must-read book for business and self-help nonfiction readers everywhere. The blend of knowledge, understanding, and engaging writing will draw the reader in and the wealth of lessons to be learned here will help many aspiring entrepreneurs to find their path in life when struggling with the sensitivity that confounds so many of us.
Meh. A few interesting personal stories and helpful-ish facts interspersed with a lot of what amounted to "blah blah blah" and I felt myself zoning out over and over. I don't usually quit on books, but I was tempted with this one. I've read a lot of these types of books over the last year, and typically I am fascinated by the content, but this one just wasn't for me.
I won this book from a Goodreads book, and I found it interesting and motivating. I am not a business person right now, but you can also use the principles in this book for your personal life and relationships as well. It's a book to re-read. There is a bibliography at the end, and I am going to read some of the cited books. I recommend it if you are a sensitive person.
Although I am not a entrepreneur I love reading self help books. I really loved this book and all the stories written by other people. Highly recommend.
