Gina is not having a good day, she quit her job thanks to a sleazy boss! When she joins a mail-order bride site and is matched up with an old one-night stand, she decides this could be a good thing, face her past and then move on with her life.
Lucca is traumatised by his past and as a result does not do relationships, justy fun times. He always makes that clear now, but in the past he didn’t, resulting in him breaking Gina’s heart. His friends have decided he needs to settle down and after too many drinks, they decide to enrol him on a dating website.
When they meet up, things are awkward to say the least, however they decide to try for the allowed period but a wolf pack they had a treaty with, is raging a war with them and when danger gets close Lucca panics.
This is a wonderful second-chance romance: Gina is no longer the shy, awkward youth, now she is a strong woman who knows her worth. Lucca cannot let his past go and is worried it will also be his future. There are shifters, action, fighting, betrayal, and romance which makes this a great read.

Some things don't change
I have not read anything by Ruby Knoxx before.
Even though this is an author whose work is new I quite enjoyed reading this second chance romance.
Lucca and Gina had a close friendship while at college and were extremely close, this ended in them stepping over the line from just friendship.
But as often happens, Gina and Lucca drifted appart, simply due to fears of the unknown, plus wanting different things in life.
But when the heart has been affected by a special someone, no matter how much you try to justify why you should stay apart, fate will often step in and ensure what is meant to be will happen.
This is a reasonably short read, and enticing I many area's, it just lacks the depth needed to express how the characters feel.
I just found the biggest issue was the storyline came across a bit flat in certain areas plus Luccas really came across like a teenage boy in many of his emotional areas.
If you want an easy read relatively quick, this is definitely a novel you will enjoy.

I love this rejected mate book. The characters were well described. We are again in Parksville. It was an emotional rollercoaster reading about Lucca. He is a troubled soul. He has his secrets and to some extent his past was catching up with him. A troubled soul searching for a reason to love and be loved. I liked the way everything was pieced together throughout the story. How his past was revealed slowly throughout.
I liked Gina. Her commitment and faith in Lucca was interesting to read. In a way she seemed to have enough faith for the both of them, that everything would be ok. Even though Lucca hurt her more than once. Why he did it was also heartfelt.
Of course with all of the books in this series there is an excellent HEA. And we get to visit a little with previous couples . This is a standalone story well worth the time to read.

Gina and Luca have a long history. He rejected her in High School trying to protect himself from getting hurt - so he hurt Gina instead. After some time apart, they are matched on a mail order site. Gina recognizes Luca at once but he fails to recognize her. Not a good starting point for a reconciliation. Luca has some issues and does not want to settle down but Gina changes that in him.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what the next step would be for each of them. I enjoyed reading their story. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Wow! This could have been a real heartbreaker. Lucca doesn’t know how to deal with love because of what happened to him as a child. Gina is the right girl for him and he has to figure that out or lose her. There are some scary moments but all turns out well. I liked Gina and she has a friend named Quinn who I would like to hear more about. Maybe she will be in the next book. I really enjoyed this story and loved the way Mason teases Lucca. I would recommend this book and series. I received a free book and the views and opinions are my own.

Loved characters
Loved characters. Book seemed a little slow going. Mid way it picked up. Near end it slowed down. To me it seemed predicament. I had a feeling that Dana was a spy.

Loved it!
This was quite a captivating read. From start to finish, the character's emotions were a roller coaster. The twist in the story gave it an edge. The ending was absolutely beautiful.

Good Book
The story between Lucca and Gina is interesting and one between past and future. Gina gets kidnapped along with getting away. Lucca rescues Gina.
