When Sean O’Brien spots something that appears out of place at a Veterans Day parade, he has no idea that the anomaly will connect to an event so deadly that, if successful, it will affect every person in America.
A powerful shadow group with ties to WWII and the Nuremberg trials is moving closer to an operation that will bring the nation to its knees and change the balance of power in the world. The mission will move like a dark cloud over the earth and in its eclipse will come dramatic changes.
It's in the aftermath of the parade when O’Brien makes a decision that will push him into a global spotlight. As the clandestine group moves to carry out their plan, they’ll have to find a way to stop O'Brien. He knows that the most abused drug in the world is absolute power. Sean O’Brien’s effort to stop them has nothing to do with revenge.

I really like this series; however I struggled with this one.
One of the things I have liked the most about this series is the fact that he typically helps individuals with serious problems, regardless of economic class or position. While helping his clients he has sometimes stumbled into something more sinister or complex than the problem initially suggested. For the most part it works for me.
In this book I struggled with the entire plot. I know he was helping the senator, but it was more about saving the entire US government, which is a good thing. But it seemed to lack the more personal element that's in past books. The characters felt less developed to me.
I know this is fiction but since it's set in our current society and he is a human being it's annoying that he is written as some kind of superhero that almost singlehandedly saved the world. I know he had his military buddies to help and some others but he planned everything, called the shots, etc. It was over the top for me. I expect that kind of character in books like James Bond. I like those books too, but in this series it seems too much.
The writing was great as always. I wish we knew what consequences Claudia Ramirez got and how Winona handled that.
It is not an awful book. It just didn't seem like the same character in some ways.

What an amazing book, yes it is fiction but it also is very close to the truth. The last time I visited my Son in the US I went to all the monuments, I especially liked the Thomas Jefferson rotunda it has stayed with me, and now I am back in the US visiting my Son I hope to revisit Thomas Jefferson and all the other monuments. Please don’t ever stop giving us the beauty of your gift in another Sean adventure 😊
What a great book Tom if I could give it 10 plus stars I would. I hope our politicians and various agencies read your book it might wake some of them up. Waiting on your next book. Pamjr39
Interesting and timely in plot. Although I am not a conspiracy theorist, the book outlines things happening in the US today. I read this pretty fast, over a couple of days. You will enjoy.
I feel that mixing China, Russia, and Covid is an easy way to sell books. If you believe this is fiction you aren’t following the political landscape and to use this plot is just for show. Best part of the book was the baby, Connor.
Mr. Lowe knocked it out of the ballpark once again! As always it was a page turner. What's so scary is how this is a fiction book But so much of it is mirroring what is going on and our nation now I fear. I guess that makes me a little bit of a Conspiracy Nut.
I really enjoy Tom Lowe’s writing. I also enjoyed reading the different genre’s he uses. This one is really exciting and frightening. This is a wonderful series that uses as the main character in this book. Maybe we all need heroes.
Okay, I read a lot....around 60 - 70 books a year....and this was one of the best I've read in a long time. The characters are interesting, the plot is easy to follow but hard to predict...kept me up till 2AM to finish it!
Tom Lowe has great insight into what is actually happening in our country today! The parallels as to what is happening in our country and politics today is amazing! Most people close their eyes as to what is happening, but Lowe gets it! I loved this book!
I love all the books in this series can't wait for the next one. Everyone should read these if this is what you like. One of our favorite places is the ponce inlet
This was a well written thriller. All the good stuff that permeates Sean O'Brien novels is there, including an ensemble cast that includes a dog.
However, too much politics, including dog whistles to the supporters of a disgraced FORMER president who is now a convicted felon. The threat to America comes from his candidacy, he will open the door to Russia and try to replicate a fourth Reich.
Also, stretches of credibility as Sean does battle with the "bad guys". Sometimes authors become too fond of their characters to allow them to fail.
