Brody Parata has spent the last decade imprisoned in his shifted form. An event in his former life as a soldier drove him to retreat into his beast form. He had no hopes of living any other way than within his bear. That is until a curvy little veterinarian makes it her mission to help his new niece, with the special gift, to mend the part of him that’s broken. Now, he’s been thrust back into the shifter and human worlds, but the trauma that drove him inside his bear hasn’t gone away.
Portia Applewhite lived her life among humans running her veterinary practice. So, she doesn’t know why she was compelled to pack up her life and follow her best friend to live among the shifters of the Central Valley Pack. What she does know is that big brooding bear with the sad eyes needs her help.
Life as they both know it changes when Portia combines her knowledge with her friend’s gift to free Brody. A spark, neither can deny, consumes them and they discover their destiny as mates. However, accepting their fate is the easy part. Brody’s past haunts them. It’s a roadblock they’ll need to remove to secure their future. Will Portia and Brody solve the mystery surrounding the mission that scarred him? Can learning the truth allow him to truly break free of his chains and finally be healed?

I am so honored that Darie McCoy reached out with an ARC for the second book in the CVP series. From page one I was hooked on the story. Darie gave us shifter, military, fatal mating, and suspense in full force! We first met Brody and Portia in book one to learn that Brody has trauma that is keeping him in bear form and Portia is the Vet that is drawn to help him.

I loved watching Brody and Portia navigate their pull, their history, and their possible future.

Healing For The Soul. First things first if you haven't read Chosen by all means please go read it. However you don't have to read it to enjoy this amazing 2nd book in this paranormal/shifter series.  Brody has been in his bear form for 10 years. Thru a trauma suffered while in the military he appears to be unable to shift back to his human appearance. Portia is a veterinarian family friend who is drawn to the moody bear. Come to find out he is her mate. Once Brody gets himself together all bets are off. There is love, excitement, intrigue, betrayal & yes a HEA. I enjoyed this new book in the series & look forward to others in the series. It was nice to read what some of the others from Chosen were doing. Enjoy.

Great Read!

I loved The twists and turns of Portia’s story. Read book 1 first to understand what is going on! Can’t wait for book 3 🙂

This book gave me exactly what I want in a PNR story. Chemistry, sweet and delicious banter, suspense, mystery, and the intense need to mate.

Brody has been stuck in his animal form for ten years, and it takes an encounter with his mate Portia to wake up the beast 🥵

Great story, characters, and plot!!

I wasn’t sure that any Central Valley Pack follow-up book could hold a candle to the first book in this series, “Chosen.” The way Rahm and Carleeta are on a nonstop chemistry train from the moment that book starts. It's INSTANT heat! (Read Chosen if you haven't already, it's worth it!) Darie McCoy has happily proved me wrong with Brody and Portia's story in Healed.

Portia actually loved Brody in his bear form in a pure way and wanted nothing more than for him to become whole again. And then she was given the opportunity to love his shifter. I don’t believe that Brody could’ve healed without realizing his and his beast’s love for Portia.

Unravelling the mystery of Brody’s broken psyche was so emotional, but it's worth taking the journey to discover the truth alongside Portia's own revelations about herself. These two gave me everything I want in a steamy shifter romance. I couldn't put it down!

I have had this book on my Kindle since last year, today was my treat read! Healed by Darie McCoy is the second book in her Central Valley Pack series. The book picks up where Chosen left off but it not necessary to have read the first book to understand the progress of the narrative (but do yourself a favor and read it, awesome story). After a mysterious military mission, Brody has been locked into his beast for ten years; however, Portia connected with him even through this immense barrier. When he is brought back to reality, Brody is disoriented and out of touch with his former life and his bear, the one unshakeable truth is that Portia is his fatal mate. Portia is sweetly assertive and supportive as she comes to understand her special connection to Brody. Ms. McCoy gives her readers a smoldering shifter love story with suspense and a well-developed military mystery. As always, I enjoyed this author’s imaginative storytelling and candid depiction of the journey her couples take to love and commitment. Reclaimed is the next story in the lineup and I look forward to Rosco Greywolf’s story. It is waiting on my Kindle.

Beautiful

This was a much anticipated book for me and it was worth the wait. Such a beautiful story about healing, and patience. I had figured out who the culprit was when he was first introduced to the story. Now, I need to know what's to become of Mignon..... and wait a minute..... a new series is coming. Stay tuned.

So good!

Ms. McCoy’s way with words had me locked in till the wee hours of the morning, and I’m sorry to reach the end. Brody’s grumpy behavior was understandable and I loved how he took care of Portia. I really like Portia and the two of them complimented one another. Excellent read! I’m wondering who’s next? Mignon or Yancey!

An absolute pleasure to read...

If I read a shifter book it has to be good and capture me from the start, this did, from the first book, Chosen then this book about Brody and Portia, now I'm waiting for the next instalment.
I want to hear about Rosco, he deserves a HEA. This book is a very good read, can't wait for what's next.

Great read

Could not put it down. I loved the characters and their chemistry. Portia really did like older men even in his bear state Brody felt the pull to this supposed human, as did she. Plenty of suspense surrounding his military service.

I love me some Brody

Brody is a man of very few words but when he spoke Portia’s couldn’t help but respond. I’m kind of glad Quinlin wasn’t who betrayed Brody. I can’t wait to read what’s for these shifters ❣️

Liked it

I liked this book, my only hang up was the story line is kind of the same as the 1st book. One of the MC's was kidnapped.
