Anne is a Christian historical romance novella featuring strong themes of faith and courage. I liked how the author incorporated history into the book; Wyoming Territory wasn’t known as “Trails to Somewhere Else” for no reason. You can still find wagon tracks through Southern Wyoming, where this takes place, so it was fun to read about that little slice of history. My favorite part of this book was the faith element. I loved how much faith Groot included---all the Bible verses and prayers.

May I just also say the cover is lovely? While most of the books in this series have great covers, I think Anne’s is one of the prettiest. It really captures the heroine and story.

CONTENT
Violence: Men are shot, a woman is almost molested and kidnapped. A hanging is threatened (rightfully so).

Mail order bride seems like the road to freedom, to dreams imagined, to a wide-open country full of beauty and surprises. Anne’s life changes with the “I do.” Do we ever want the greener pastures only to find mayhem and disaster? Even when we pray and follow God’s direction, events occur that bring so many questions. Does that mean the decision to follow is wrong? Does God’s plan include hardships and lessons along the way? Anne faced obstacles I hope never to encounter. Only through pray and hope can she endure the pain.
Braving the elements of the Oregon Trail would be difficult for anyone. I admire the strength and determination of the pioneers. I hope to glean a bit of their bold, bravery in my little sphere in present time.
Bravo, Rena Groot!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Anne was a sweet story! It moves very quickly and I actually liked that. Some books can get very detailed and descriptive. Although this book moved along quickly, I still could vividly picture the characters, environment, and situations in my mind. There was a little bit of suspense woven throughout this book, which kept me intrigued. This is a true Christian fiction book. The gospel is presented, scripture is often referenced, and the characters rely upon and pray to God often. I especially loved the epilogue. Sometimes books leave the future of the characters up to your imagination. Rena summarized the future of the characters quickly yet with fulfillment. I highly recommend this book. It is a quick, uplifting read!

A lovely story about Anne’s and Logan’s journey following the death of her husband.
The author does a wonderful job of showing Gods love and grace throughout the story as they go through the highs and lows of a long travel and everything that goes along with it.

With the opening pages readers can get a feel of how hard it was during the late 1880s. There was the threat of the Jesses James group who robbed and killed innocent people that many feared. The weather was not always favorable and trying to survive on the Oregon Trail was very hard.

I like Anne and her fierce, determined and strong character. Being a mail order bride was something she thought would give her happiness. She was quite young and faced so many tragedies. The death of her husband shatters her hopes and dreams. Now she must face having to be around the man who killed her husband. I think it would be very difficult to be near the man who murdered someone I loved.

Logan is very humble and strong in his faith. He decides to help Anne and has her join him on his journey. He wants to protect her and knows she is angry with him. Faced with tough questions he tells her the true facts about her husband that she never knew about. I thought about how people can deceive others when they are not face to face getting to know each other. It is a shock to face the harsh reality that the the man she married was violent and ruthless. Logan continues to show grace to Anne and realizes that he is starting to have feelings for her.

I enjoyed the story and how the author describes the many obstacles our two main characters faced. A simple task we do every day like brushing our teeth was hard for our main characters to accomplish. The thought of brushing my teeth with mint leaves, and twigs does not sound appealing. When the author mentioned how many people lost teeth due to not brushing I thanked God for the simple things we take for granted.

I learned many things about this time period which showed me how we need to trust God and know that he will supply our needs. Forgiveness is a big lesson for Anne and I loved how she relied on her faith to help her. It had to be hard to forgive someone who caused you pain, but Anne knew she had to overcome what was holding her back from happiness. This is a great story where adventure, danger, forgiveness and faith work together and show how faith can move mountains.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I have read a few of Rena Groot's books and I always enjoy them. I have been anxiously awaiting a new release by Rena Groot and it is finally here. Anne is Book 27 of the Prairie Roses Collection, a collection of standalone novels by Various authors.

The Book is set in 1881 on the Oregon Trails. Anne is a 19yr old Widow. She was traveling with her husband, William, on a Wagon Train when he was murdered. The Oregon Trail is always rough traveling and now that Anne is a widow she is struggling with life. Things are not made easier for her as the US Marshall, Logan, is on board with the man who murdered her husband. Anne's heart is really struggling between getting revenge or extending forgiveness. Will Anne be able to allow God to show her how to heal from the Trauma or will she seek revenge? Will Anne find out some information about her late husband that shocks her? Will there be a relationship between Logan and Anne?

I enjoy the storylines of Mail Order Bride, but this had an interesting twist to the story. Anne is so young to be a widow, yet she really relies on her faith to get her through this rough time in life. Logan is a man who has values and faith. I really love how he was honest with Anne about William. I also admire Logan for being honest with his feelings for Anne, even though he wasn't searching for a relationship. God truly worked in the hearts of both Anne and Logan. I LOVE that the book is filled with Faith and Scripture. This is a book of Faith, Love and Family and Adventure. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who enjoys Historical Fiction. WONDERFUL BOOK!

When disaster strikes, everything appears to be going more smoothly than Anne had anticipated. She was a newlywed on a wonderful adventure, then tragedy hits. How can she put together the pieces of her world back together. It’s 1881, Anne is a widow. For a woman on the Oregon Trail, there weren't many options. Her only opportunity was to travel with the man who killed her husband.

Will she forgive the man who put her in the predicament she finds herself in or will she seek revenge for the loss of her husband? As Anne adjusts to life on the frontier, a romance is blossoming. She wasn’t ready for her feelings to betray her. if you enjoy reading stories about the Oregon Trail. You'll enjoy this tale. Personally, I found it difficult to relate to this story.

What a beautiful and heartwarming action packed story of God's grace and provision in the darkest hour, a story of tragedy, secrets, heart ache, betrayal, lies, loneliness grief and resentment, as well as joy, forgiveness and second chances. Anne began a wagon train trip to Oregon with her new husband William only to become a widow soon after the journey began. Accompanying the wagon train was Logan, a U.S. Marshal. Logan attempted to comfort and show concern and care for Anne after William's death, but she refuses to even acknowledge Logan because of perceived misconduct on his part. As secrets come to light and the extent of misdeeds are revealed, will Anne change her mind about Logan? Will Anne be able to accept the truth about her husband when it is revealed? Will there be a HEA for Anne and Logan? What did Anne find when Logan shot the lock off of William's trunk? This story is a real page turner and one once you start you will not want to put down until you have finished it. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Anne is part of a great historical fiction series that you’re going to love reading. Don’t worry about just picking it up. You won’t be lost. You don’t have to read the entire series in order to get the most out of each novel as they are stand-alone titles.

This is a quick read. It reads through quickly but doesn’t make you think the story is lacking. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. They pulled me in and I didn’t ever want to be let go.

Our main character is 19 and on her way west. She’s also a widow and travelling with her husband’s killer. Let’s just say that Anne definitely is struggling with some thoughts of revenge.

I highly recommend this novel and hope you take the chance to give it a read!

Anne is written by Rena Groot. This is part of the Prairie Roses collection that is written by multiple authors but can all be read as stand alone stories. This was a nice quick read that transports you back in time and to the wagon trails. The author has done a wonderful job at bringing the past to life through her story.

Anne is a widow at age 19. She was traveling with her husband, William, on a Wagon Train when he was murdered. I cannot imagine having to constantly be looking around for the threat of stage coach robbers. US Marshal, Logan is on the train with the murderer. Anne struggles. Can she extend forgiveness or will she hold the resentment towards him. I loved the faith element that the author wove into the story.

The book is well written. The storyline is engaging. Thank you to the author, publisher and Celebrate Lit for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.

Anne by Rena Groot is a work of Historical Romantic Fiction. This book is part of the Prairie Roses collection. In 1881, nineteen-year-old Anne traveling west finds herself a widow after U.S. Marshal Logan kills him.

Filled with themes of hardship, faith, prayers, Scripture references, and forgiveness, Rena Groot created a book that drew me in and kept me reading. She also illustrates how sometimes family ties can be created from experiences.

I also loved how Anne used writing in a journal to express her thoughts and feelings. A redemption arc plays out through Anne’s willingness to forgive someone who brings elements of danger into the story. Truly, this book is one with well-developed characters and a well-thought-out storyline.

So if you enjoy works of Historical Romantic Fiction, check out Anne by Rena Groot for yourself.

Anne by Rena Groot is another wonderful addition to the multi author series , Prairie Roses Collection. I enjoyed going back in time to the 1880s and joining the Oregon Trail. I adored Anne right from the start. I could see myself in Anne with the doubts and the fears, but yet she finds her determination and courage. I admired her strength and how she was able to discover herself, find faith and hope and learning about the power of forgiveness. At under one hundred eighty pages, it was easy for me to continue this book in one sitting. I loved it.
I am giving Anne five stars. I believe it would be a great fit for fans and readers of clean historical romance. by Rena Groot Prairie Roses Collection

Such a sweet story of overcoming hardships. A great plot with a blooming romance and lots of action with danger. I loved the characters. The doubts and faith we all struggle with, along with the sin that our flesh still wrestles against, make this story so heartwarming. I loved how real Anne was with God as she talked with him. Rena did a great job keeping the reader pulled into the story. The fact that Jesus was entwined throughout the story was beautiful and makes an emotional impact. She included information about the trails that were traveled and did a fantastic job with keeping the reader entertained. I really enjoyed this story!

Set in 1881, a treasure of a story. Simply, deeply, faithfully told. Anne is a new mail order bride on a wagon train when her husband is killed. Her travels and trials from there are full of deep pain and great joys, supported by scripture. Beautiful descriptions of the scenery as they travel. Several historical lessons of the areas they went through. Rena is a great storyteller!

One thrilling adventure

Wow! Anne definitely had her share of adventure, kidnappings, being held hostage, married to a Jessee James gang member, traveling months in a covered wagon, encountering Indians, losing her baby, but finds a knight in shining armor. Logan escorts Anne across the west and through faith, and love find each other! Love the characters that keep Anne and Logan company, especially Jeb! Definitely this one has everything in it. Great story and great series!

Anne travels West

Seeing her husband gunned down was a big shock to her senses! Newly married and on the trail west, Anne learns the tried and true stories of the Oregon Trail were somewhat true!
Logan was the US Marshall that gunned her husband down in cold blood! She could not possess feelings that needed to be ignored!
But that trail to Oregon is lonely and long and Anne & Logan develop those honest, raw emotions that can only be identified as Love!
I enjoy reading this authors books with the Bible quotes and verses that we all need to apply to our own lives!

Anne by Rena Groot is a novel filled with hope but also much sadness. It is a mail order bride story. I recommend this book but have to say I read it with tears falling down my checks. But. It was real life and the ending truly turned the tears into smiles. I really enjoyed the Biblical Scriptures that were part of the plot.

Follow Anne and Logan along the Oregon Trail.
A great story, set in 1881, that has all the characteristics of men and women that traveled the Oregon Trail. Follow and through tragedy and triumph.
One of my favorite quotes from the book, “ Sadly, I have heard the same things. I wish it wasn’t true. There are good men and corrupt men everywhere. This isn’t heaven yet.”
A very well written story with Christian values.

This is a nice short story containing lots of biblical references and historical information, with lots of action mixed in. I would definitely read more books by this author.

I found the main characters very likeable, but I got tired of Anne fainting whenever something happened. I also did not like the timing of the proposal at the end. Although I knew it wasn't, it could easily look like it was done in greed, due to the circumstances immediately prior.

The Oregon Trail can be tough for all those who travel it. There can be wonder, excitement, loss and tragedy anywhere. Anne was traveling west to Oregon with her husband when he ends up being killed by US Marshal Logan Mitchell. This was a story of the true trials of life during the early travels west and how you must turn to faith, friends and fellow travelers to get where you need to go. Although this book was one of a collection it was a perfectly enjoyable standalone read as well.

Things are not always as they seem, as we discover with Anne. But looking back, it’s clear God had his hand on her life and was walking beside her, tenderly caring for her—even in the most difficult of circumstances. Two men, each claiming to have her best interest at heart. Which is telling the truth, her beloved new husband, or the young US Marshal?

This heart-warming adventure, with bears, Indians, fort life, mosquitoes, disease, outlaws and heroes, is filled with intrigue, romance, pestilence, humor and friendship, as we are drawn into the difficult realities and challenges of pioneering the US western frontier in the 1800s.

With themes of forgiveness, patience, empathy, courage, selflessness, gratitude, and respect, Anne finds herself in situations beyond her control, where she’s forced to acknowledge her human frailty and need for God’s provision and love, trusting in His timing and presence in her life.

The author’s descriptive writing gives a clear vision of the incredible and vast rugged beauty of the West—the wildlife, scenery, foods, and native tribes; you can smell, hear, and see every little detail as Anne’s story is brought to life!

Rena Groot creates characters you come to care for and cheer for, and others who bring up raw emotions of fear and disdain. We learn God’s redemption is available to all.

Anne is a “must-read”: a beautiful story of challenges, heartbreak, redemption, and the hope of a new beginning…something we all need.

I really enjoyed the historical details in this book, and even places in the West that I was not familiar with and had to look up. The book has an excellent message on how life can change in an instant, forgiveness, love, and trust in God, even when (or especially when) we don't understand His ways. It also shares how quickly hate can "consume the human heart", and how desperately wicked men's hearts are. The Scripture that Anne memorized early in life, guided and reminded her when problems arose. I loved this quote: "Anne decided instead of allowing terrifying thoughts to fill her mind, she would think about God’s Word." This is the first book I have read by this author, and I look forward to reading more. I ARC-read this book, and couldn't wait to share my own free review. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book given to me by the author. All opinions and words are my own. ~ Becky Smith
