Yeonan and Dalguk's love story begins in season two of Our Paradise! Dalguk has patiently waited for the person he always loved, Yeonan, oblivious to his feelings. Underneath, Yeonan is struggling, getting beat by his father, and being pressured to succeed. He feels safe when he's with Dalguk as he treats his wounds, wishing for a moment that his struggles could disappear. Dalguk watches him in pain, wishing that Yeonan could free himself from such pain. Meanwhile, Maehwa and Jaewon are dating and spending their days having fun. Jaewon loves Maehwa but wants to become closer to him than they already are, but he's unsure how Maehwa feels.
Season 2 Yeonan and Dalguk 😢their romance😭💙! Season two definitely took a darker route when the story focused on one of the characters and the physical abuse he faces. Still, the story never strays too deep into that topic, using it to strengthen the story and lead to some pretty good romance scenes. I love how Dalguk is such a green flag, patiently waiting for Yeonan, never pushing him out of his limits, and being whatever Yeonan needs in the moment: friend or lover.
I loved the storyline of season two, especially Dalguk and Yeonan. While I loved Jaewon and Maehwa together, I have to admit that Dalguk x Yeonan were my favourite ship in the story. I would have loved to see more about how this physical abuse affects Yeonan because it does feel a lot like it is sometimes used just to create scenes between Dalguk and Yeonan but is not heavily focused upon. Yeonan was always cheerful and kind, so it was very interesting to not just see him but get to know him personally.
I love a good friends to lovers, and this is definitely that. Each character has a very distinct way of reacting, facial expressions, and personality that bring more life to the story. I love that, despite this story focusing on two couples, we get to see glimpses of Maehwa and Jaewon from time to time and how their lives intersect. I never caught on to the fact that Dalguk and Yeonan could be a thing 👉👈 believing they would only be side characters, yet I am so happy about how healthy their romance is. Green Apple Paradise, also known as Our Paradise, is just such a sweet manhwa that creates a safe space for readers to get lost in!
