Taylor Blaylock didn’t have the best childhood. Growing up with an addict for a mother made her mature quicker than other kids her age. The saddest day of her life was watching her mother being hauled off in handcuffs, leaving Taylor to live with a father she never knew existed. Her entire life changed overnight. Even as her father dotes on her and her stepmother treats her like her own - she still just wants to go back to the way it was. The biggest downfall of her new living arrangement is her stepbrother, Will. No matter how much she tries, he's always horrible to her. As much as she disliked him and his cocky demeanor, she couldn't help but be drawn to him. His hot and cold attitude makes her head spin. Add to that the confusion about why she's attracted to the one person she shouldn’t be, and it's a recipe for disaster. She will find out what his problem is and get him out of her system, even if she has to give him a push.
Will Douglas was less than thrilled when his mother married after years of it being just the two of them. Even though Tom was a nice guy, they didn’t need him. They sure as hell didn’t need a pouty little brat that came along later. While his mom may have been happy with the complete “family”, Will wanted nothing to do with it. Especially when it came to the gray-eyed stepsister who could do no wrong. He had never been that much of a handful, but with the saintly princess in the house, it was only causing problems for him. She got under his skin at every turn. He craves her more than he should but he knows he can never have her. There's too much standing in the way. No matter how he feels, he needs to push it down and pretend she doesn’t exist. Even if she could forgive him for the secrets he keeps, that would still leave two obstacles… her father and her stalker.
Jamie Schaefer was born and raised in Wisconsin. From a young age, she has always had a passion for reading. While other children were outside playing, you would find her with her nose in a book. It amazed her that she could disappear into another world for a while. She had always wanted to create those worlds for others but didn't take the leap until 2019. Seeing as she was a lover of HEA, romance was what she gravitated to. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband and three children.
I was honored to receive an ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
I loved it! Makes you want a dreamy step bro! It was cute, spicy and kept the reading long past my bedtime! The back and forth between the male and female mains is well written and laugh out loud funny! Definitely plan on checking out more by this author!
This is a book about a girl who ends up living with her dad stepmom and stepbrother. She falls for the stepbrother, but thinks he hates her til he doesn’t. He’s loved her since forever. It’s a great enemies to lovers vibe. The only part I hated about this book is it’s supposed to be a stalker book and you don’t find anything about said stalker til 52% in. I mean I guessed who it was right away. The author should have made him known way earlier in the book or just made him a problem person they have to deal with. Because the stalker isn’t introduced til the halfway point we don’t know why the stepbrother is such a jerk. So that’s awful. Then the ending felt very very rushed. It was a decent story otherwise.
This book was absolutely freaking amazing! The plot twist at the near end had meeeeee jawwww dropped!!! Totally was not expecting it. But the love that these two main characters have for one another but not sure how the other feels or wants to be seen was just wonderfully written! If you love forbidden step sibling romance with hidden danger then this is the book for you!!!
Where do I get a Will? I enjoyed this story it had a lot of what I think some other stories are trying to achieve but this one did it so well. I loved their banter and their relationship. I couldn’t wait for them to give things a try. Jamie had me second guessing myself the whole time. I know I should’ve stuck with my gut. I was right on the ball.
I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to see what this series holds.
I got it yesterday morning and couldn't put it down. The story moves at a fast pace and the characters are well developed. The plot twists are Sixth Sense worthy. And all books need more Nick.
I'm having trouble where to start this review. Do I start with the title, and how I'm not a fan of stepsiblings getting it on? Do I start with the stalker-vibes, that make you stay on the edge of your seat? Or do I begin by mentioning how Taylor and Will are perfect enemies-to-lovers?
Overall, I liked the book. The mentioned suspense of having someone leaving notes warning Will to stay away from Taylor - even before they start living together because she is forced to move in with her dad, his new wife and her son - is really good. Added to that the spice of their attraction to each other (and me ignoring that they are stepsiblings), and this book draws you in.
What bothered me was the fact that they don't behave like teenagers most of the time. Will seems very powerful over his peers, almost like the frightening CEO or mob boss in other books. People do as he says, without question or doubt. And the way he talks dirty to Taylor leaves me wondering if he needs therapy, since he is not even twenty and already doing next level things to her. Also, no one seemed bothered with the fact that they were stepsiblings: even his mom supported their relationship, while they were still living with their parents.
Another issue I had with this book was the final reveal of the stalker/bad guy. After that long build up of tension, the reveal came very quick and short. I am still confused as to what exactly motivated the stalker and Will to be so obsessed with Taylor, because it didn't make any sense to me. I feel like it could use some more explanation, take more time going through the events (and maybe consider -again - the fact that these events happened to teenagers) to make it more believable and better to follow along for the reader.
Although I had some issues with this book, overall I enjoyed it and I couldn't put it down. It was a solid four star read until I came to the reveal, which didn't work for me. But if this is the level of spice Jamie Schaefer writes, I will definitely be checking out other books from her hand!
This is the best book I have read so far this year. I was a bit on the fence as Spicy books aren’t really my thing but the story line is so gripping and the relationship between Will and Taylor is so electric you cannot help but read on.
The spicy scenes are so well written, they aren’t cringy and it’s probably one of the first times I have read spicy content and not felt my skin crawl and actually sat with my eyes glued to ever word and syllable.
You knows it’s good writing when you feel every emotion the characters feel and at times I was heartbroken, anxious, smiling and giggling away at some of the comments made and it totally devoured my mind and i didn’t want to put it down.
I know this is the 2nd book in a duology but I do not feel it was necessary as I haven’t read the first book (yet) and did not feel like I was missing any information. The storyline was explained so well and the twists and turns had you forgetting what time it was or what day it was. All normal things I was supposed to do went out the window completely. All characters were necessary and played a vital role in the story but it was easy to follow which I loved. I do not want to put any spoilers because I really think that no matter what I write, I will never do this book any justice in explaining it from my point of view I will be purchasing the first book and cannot wait to read that too!
I think I read a completely different book than everyone else. This book follows Taylor who gets ripped way from her mom after her mom is busted using drugs. She is sent to live with her dad, whom Taylor has never met. There she meets his stepson, Will, and has numerous angry interactions with him with no explanations. We slowly learn about both Will and Taylor's pasts and learn that their connection may go deeper than they thought.
My biggest grievances with this book were that Will was AWFUL and the mystery aspect felt forced and not needed. Will was constantly doing things to "protect Taylor" without telling her anything about them and continued to keep her in the dark even when she begged him not too. His "love" for her is also borderline creepy and toxic. He had moments where he would be incredibly sweet, then would do a complete 180 and become a crazy person again.
Taylor was a fun FMC and I was appreciative of how raw Jamie made this character, especially after everything the character went through in the book. The story took a little time to pick up, but once it did, it moved at a pretty fun pace. There was a small amount of spice and it was a fun addition.
Thank you to Bookfunnel and Jamie Schaefer for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Nothing like diving straight in to action; the story certainly grabbed me right from the start and had me unable to put it down so I could get answers to all the questions I had about characters actions and motivations. It was a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish and I loved it. Will is a loveable grump and Taylor spends a good chunk of the book thinking he hates her when he is trying to keep her safe. They go through so much together and more than deserve a peaceful HEA. The side characters were well developed and I found myself wanting to know more about them too - Evan is my favourite though and I hope to see him again if there’s any further books in the same world. Honestly was ready to chuck my kindle at some of the twists it took and it had me on the edge of my seat throughout which is just how I like my books. Every time I thought I knew what was happening it chucked another turn at me so I was never sure if I was on the right track in my guesses or not; making it a truly fun read. It was great to see Jenna again and it did dip in to some bonus details about the first book and answered a few questions I had about that which was nice.
Taylor hasn't had the easy life. Her mother is an addict and that forced her to grow up early and be able to fend for herself. But one day after coming home from school and was about to get dinner going for her and her mother, the police come and arrest her mother, forcing her to go into CPC. Thankfully her dad lives near by, but one problem....she's never met her dad or knew of him and he's never met her. Now being forced to live in a new household with practically complete strangers is something she can't wrap her head around. Even bigger problem; she has a hot older step brother who will refuse to even acknowledge her, let alone even admit she's his sister. But can they resist the pull to one another forever? Will their parents even accept them if they do fall?
This novel is explosive. The dynamic between Taylor and Will is intense and I was loving every bit of it. You can feel the pull they have to one another and how much they care for each other, even if they won't admit to it. Will is truly a sweetheart in wolf's clothing. He comforts, cares and protects Taylor in ways only he can understand. Even after years apart she is still his one true love that he can't let get away. Thank you, Jamie, for an ARC copy of Taboo: Sinful Desires. Step-brother tropes have quickly become on of my favorite tropes and this book did not disappoint!
I was lucky enough to be chosen for the ARC of this book all for my honest opinion and review of it...
Taboo was a really good book. Definitely would recommend. I really enjoyed this book, and it held me captive the whole time I was reading it... If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will enjoy this one in my opinion.
Taylor didn't have an easy life and it seems she couldn't catch a break. But her world came crashing down around her when her mother was arrested right in front of her, and she was told by her mom to call a man she didn't even know.... HER DAD...
When she finally met him, and his wife and her son Will. She thought Will absolutely hated her from the start but that wasn't the case. Taylor did everything she could to try and make nice at first when she moved into her father's houses but then she realized that it would just be easier to avoid. But Taylor could never imagine that Will didn't hate her even a little bit and he was trying to protect her all along...

I honestly didn’t expect this book to be so emotional. What can I say other than I loved this book!! The characters I absolutely adore! Will is officially one of my favorite book boyfriends and Taylor has gone through so much in life it’s honestly quite unfair. But her will to survive (no pun intended lol) is admirable. She’s so strong and just takes everything in stride. Her mom’s addiction and their separation, living her whole life not knowing her father and then insert Will and all the drama he adds. But his reasons are so sweet. This book definitely falls into the “touch her and die” trope and I honestly wasn’t expecting the plot twist. It literally made me gasp out loud even tho I had suspected it was who it was leaving the notes and basically torturing poor Will. If I could give this book 10 stars I would. 10/10 highly recommend!! 3/5 for spice and 5 whole, glorious, gold stars for this beauty!! So glad I got to ARC read this book. Brought tears to my eyes a couple of times 👏👏👏 Beautifully written Jamie!!

Ok so this book had me in a chokehold from the first chapter. Taylor and Will are a whirlwind I could not put down as soon as I started. I must stay this is the first time reading a stepbrother trope and I think I have a new one to add to my list. I would never have though this could be so hot but here I am wanting more!
Right from the beginning I wanted to know what Will was hiding and I knew there would be more to unfold. Will is an absolute saint and we don’t deserve him. He cares so much for everyone around him except for Taylor and I needed to know why. Once he revealed his heart then I was all in for team Will.
Taylor has had a hard life and had to grow up to fast. My heart broke for what she went through. I felt every emotion she did and went through this story with her. I love Taylor and how she evolves through the timeline.
I would definitely recommend this book! It’s probably one of the most addicting stories I’ve read this year! If I didn’t have adulting to do I would have read it in one sitting.
I was very fortunate enough to get an ARC of this book. I loved it so much. Although parts of it were a little confusing at times and things kind of jumped around a bit it was a good read. I loved Will and Taylor and I’m glad things worked out for them. I was guessing the whole time of who the stalker was and all of twists kept me on the edge of my seat. Will was always trying to protect Taylor and I’m glad she forgave him and didn’t hold anything against him. Taylor was forced to go live with her dad and his family. A dad she didn’t even knew existed. When she walks in the room she sees Will for the first time and the world stops. Will does everything in his power to make Taylor hate him so that he can protect her. When they finally give into each other they can’t stay apart. But that puts Taylor in danger and Will makes the difficult decision to protect her no matter the cost. Will is such a cinnamon roll but only for Taylor and I love that. I love that he does romantic things and does everything to make Taylor happy.
I enjoyed this book very much. It’s a fast passed book. I started last night and finished today. This book introduces us to Taylor who grows up with a mother who was an addict then gets arrested to then find out that she is being sent to live with her dad. Which by the way didn't even know existed. Her Dad and step mom have been great with her, the only problem is the step brother. (Will) No matter how much she tries, he just is always horrible to her. However she can’t help but to be drawn to him. Taylor gets under Will’s skin as well, he craves her but he knows he shouldn’t. There is so many obstacles in their way. Secrets that could threaten them. But no matter how he feels, he needs to push it down and pretend she doesn’t exist.
It does have: Explicit Sex Scenes Explicit Language Addiction Drug abuse Violence Murder
I enjoyed this book. This is the second book in the Sinful Desires series but it is a stand alone read. Now this use to be my favorite trope, stepbrother - forbidden - Taboo. Reading this book reminded me why I enjoyed this trope so much. I love the ass act from the MMC because he knows he shouldn't act on his desire, but everything he does, he does for her.
Will and Taylor are thrust together after Taylor's mother gets arrested for drug use and Taylor is forced to live with the father she never knew about. Will is forced to take actions against threats and past deeds. The more he pushes her away the more she pushes in until the tension finally snaps and they give in to each other.
This is a wonderfully written book and I enjoyed the story. Please do read the triggers before you start to read the book.
*Taboo *Bully *Protective *Stepbrother *Suspenseful *Third Act breakup This is my first time reading this author. This is book two in the series, but it is a standalone and I honestly didn’t even know it was a book two other than the cover saying it! I will go back and read book one which will probably lead to book two, but Taboo is completely standalone and doesn’t need any prior knowledge to be understood. This was so freaking good. So much suspense, back and forth, on-again off-again drama, done well. It gave me so many different feelings and at times I had to put it away before I broke my Kindle out of frustration! I loved the hell out of this book.
I loved Taylor. Don’t get me wrong. She was a strong FMC. However, I wasn’t a huge fan of Will. Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of Red Flag love interests. And, to me, Will was a series of red flags after another. Yes, it’s an escape from reality. However, it’s not my cup of tea. Could someone else love this book? Yes. Is it going to stop me from reading more from Jamie? No. Not at all. Because there could be something out there that is my cup of tea. (Forbidden was a bit better for me. However, again, Nick was a walking red flag.) I do appreciate Jamie adding me to her list of ARC readers. However this one wasn’t my favorite.
I was grabbed from the start, Taylor's addicted mother is arrested and taken away so she is sent to live with the father she has never met. Will is her step brother but hates being referred as such. The slow burn between them is so good, the author does well to keep you wanting more but taking time to get there. An enemies to lovers to enemies to lovers the plot keeps you gripped as the secrets start to come to light and the mysterious person sending threats to Taylor becomes a hunt before someone is seriously hurt. I couldn't put it down.
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was a new author to me and let me tell you....ZERO DISAPPOINTMENT!! I'm such a sucker for taboo and it just hits different. This story moved fast and was easy to read. The characters were well written within the story and developed throughout. I love all the different emotions I felt while reading this book and it makes it so much easier connecting with the characters when you feel things for them or towards them. For me what really kept me going was the twists and turns. Like I for sure knew what was coming....and then I was like well hmmm, wasn't expecting that. It was a fun read and I definitely recommend this book!!
What to say about Will and Taylor. Gah sometimes I really wanted to reach into my book and strangle them. Stubborn and strong willed and frustratingly two great characters. This book was a great read. I worried about them through out this book and was not sure they should be together at some points. However, they won me over and. Him trying to protect her and her not understanding or even knowing. My heart broke for them at some point. Him demanding to never be called brother or step brother and no one understanding why. Awesome book made me want more and could not put down until it was done.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Let me start by saying this was an easy read, and the tension build-up in the first part of the book was fantastic. I didn't realize there was a stalker element until about halfway through, but there were many twists and turns that kept me guessing. A decent amount of spice, but not enough to overwhelm the plot.
The arc version of this book had quite a few editing misses, but I'm not sure if those were resolved in the official release version. Certainly not a huge deal for an indie author, but if it's something that bugs you, just take this as a heads up.
Taylor didn’t have the best childhood. After her mother feel into a deep depression and took to using alcohol and drugs to numb the pain Taylor took to taking care of her mother. One day her mother was taken to jail in a sting operation and suddenly Taylor is in the custody of her father that she’s never met. Her stepbrother, Will, bullies her and she hates him. But it turns out there’s a reason he made it his mission to make her hate him. This book has so many ups and downs and has quite a bit of angst.
I loved this book. There were some good spicy scenes starting about chapter 8, so you don’t have to wait to long to get to them. There is also good plot, it’s not just back to back sex scenes. There are twists and turns throughout the entire book that keeps you in your toes the entire time. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a little of the taboo romance genre that has a suspenseful plot that makes you want to keep reading. This book brought me out of a reading slump that’s been going on for a few months.
Ok first ever book I read from this author and let’s just say I’m reader to read more from her!!!!!! This book is so good I couldn’t put it down!!! Taboo is exactly what this book is I really didn’t know what to expect and with her having a stalker I couldn’t figure out who was sending her the messages and then I was like maybe it’s this person or that person she kept me on my toes! Happy Taylor and will got a happy ending!!!! Don’t want to spoil anything but this is definitely a book you should read!!!
I loved it. Will absolutely deserved his story. Gotta say after the first book I was kind of hesitant, he comes off as a bit of a douche canoe, looking for trouble doesn't give off the the main character energy you hope for in a bit of a sneak peek.
Now that his and Taylor's story is out. It's easy to see him for the rock covered marshmallow is for her. Taylor is a fighter and I love that about her. However Will really stole the focus on this one.
Would also like to point out in both book 1 and 2, the best friend energy the women receive hit.the.mark.🎯
Oh this book…..I laughed, I yelled and I loved. This is a thriller with a love story. Will is a cranky boy who loves only Taylor. Taylor is his step sister and she thinks he hates her. She has a stalker that wants Will dead. The blue dress scene will forever be my favorite….this book kept me guessing. It’s a fast paced dual POV forbidden romance with a stalker. It will go on the to be read again list.
What happens when your mom gets busted and goes to jail and you go live with your dad and you have a stepbrother who is hot as hell.... you don't want him to be your stepbrother
Taylor and Will, the twisted and turns, one minute you hate will, then you love him, everyone should have a best friend like Taylor does. I always knew there was something about Ryan that I didn't like. This was a great read, and the 🌶🌶 was great, too. It's definitely a must-read.
I enjoyed learning more about Will after meeting him in the first book. While I feel like the storyline at times was going wonky I did enjoy seeing how things came to a end. I could see other stories coming from here to have some more character development. You don’t have to have read the first book to read this but I am glad to have read it to know who some of the people already were that are involved in Will and Taylor’s story. Definitely a good read and would recommend.
This book had a great premise but some of the subplots felt excessive to me.
Taylor’s mom gets taken to rehab and then jail so she is forced to live with the dad she has never met and his wife and step son, Will.
Will makes it known that Taylor is off limits to every guy in school but makes her life miserable in the meantime. Because of some threatening notes, he stays away from her even though he wants her more than anything.
The main story is great and I was rooting for the main characters but intrigue and mystery are not my favorite genre so that was on me.
