The title of this book is slightly misleading. Chair yoga is great for seniors, especially those with mobility concerns. The key point in the previous sentence is “mobility concerns.” Unfortunately, even people younger than 60 face mobility issues which make any kind of regular exercise difficult, and even sometimes out of the question.
Chair yoga can benefit a huge number of people. Personally, I have managed to gain more weight than I thought my body could handle, so my knees aren’t really by biggest fans at the moment. Doing any kind of physical activity becomes painful after a short time, so I tend to not do any at all. This, of course, turns into an ugly cycle with me and my weight. It wouldn’t have even crossed my mind that chair yoga might be the answer (largely because I truly hadn’t really heard about it before this), but my mother-in-law brought it up to another family member recently, and I decided to look into it.
This book is short and sweet, but comprehensive. It includes information on the health benefits of doing chair yoga, a breakdown of chair yoga poses and progressions, and then good nutrition tips. The yoga poses are described in written detail and in pictures, so they’re easy to follow. I’m looking forward to start this journey, lose some weight, and maybe progress to floor yoga soon!

I'm at the exercises. So far it's a wonderful book. From the wonderful Introduction, the Benefits of Yoga taught me so much. Chair Yoga information is so well written, the Myths explained is fantastic, I always thought that you had to be limber and young to practice Yoga but have learned differently after reading this book and trying some of the exercises. The chapter on 'It's never too late to start' is one of my favorites, as I've never done Yoga the setting your own pace being one of my favorite parts. I enjoyed the information on warming up and cooling down for the importance of my body. I love the step-by-step instructions.

I look forward to doing at least 10 minutes a day. To help me be more flexible and finding a harmony within myself with the daily chair exercises! The 15 Simple Poses for Your Daily Routine is Great!!

“Chair Yoga for Seniors Bible” by Audrey Fitzgerald is an encouraging and thorough resource for older adults looking to engage in fitness without strain or overexertion. The book's conversational tone and step-by-step instructions make yoga feel approachable, even for beginners. I especially appreciated the inclusion of 10-minute routines, as they cater to busy or energy-limited readers. I liked how the book stresses that age should not limit one’s capacity for health and strength, promoting exercises that accommodate a variety of physical abilities such as reduced mobility and energy levels. Overall, this is an excellent guide for seniors seeking to maintain independence and health, or for anyone supporting a loved one on this journey. The comprehensive and illustrated format guarantees that readers can follow along with confidence.

Loved this book. I have always wanted to do yoga but never found the time to sit down and learn it. I was offered a copy of this book and sat down and did everyone of these exercises and I have to say that I really enjoyed chair yoga and the fact that I could do it in the comfort of my own home. Also, I didn't need to get someone to help me because her instructions and pictures enabled me to do this on my own. No fees to pay, no classes to attend and no one to see me do the exercises.

If you are like me and want to stay fit but feel self conscious doing exercises in front of others, then you need to get this book where you have the instructions in front of you and can work at your own pace in your house.

Quick and Simple Chair Yoga for Seniors Over 60 by Audrey Fitzgerald

Do you realize that life isn't as easy as it used to be? This author taught her Mom Yoga at the age of 80 and still does in her 80's.

Breathing is an integral part of Yoga. Joints, balance, happiness, well-being, Chair yoga is perfect for Seniors. Yoga blends how to warm up and cool down. Breathing is key in Yoga. Chapter 4 shows poses. Ten minutes a day is better than nothing. There is a section on Yoga for weight loss.

I don't love the title of the book, as chair yoga is accessible to everyone, regardless of age. There are tons of spelling and grammatical errors throughout the book, which annoy me. The information is basic and fine. I was looking for a more in-depth book on chair yoga. What annoyed me the most, though, was the blatant beg for reviews of this book right in the middle of it; it really isn't a good look for this Fitzgerald. This book is more for people looking to explore yoga for the first time than a yoga instructor looking for guidance on teaching chair yoga. For those training to teach yoga, there are better books on chair yoga than this one.
