Chubs
To survive this harsh world, I’ve lived a life of lies and secrets. From a young age, I was taught the dangers of trusting others. When my world imploded, I knew those lessons were warranted. I was forced to flee the only place I’d ever known and the only people I loved.

In a desperate situation, with no one to turn to, I met a large biker who insisted on taking in a scared teenage boy. No questions asked, and none answered. He put a roof over my head and food in my stomach. He gave me hope, and I gave him my loyalty.

The Devil’s Angels MC became my new family, and I grew into the man I’d wanted to become. My life was good, and I thought I had it all, but then I met Lucy. Shy, tiny, with beautiful dark red hair, I knew she was meant to be mine. Ignoring the danger of ghosts from my past, I envisioned a life of beauty with my woman.

Lucy
Chubs was mine. I knew it when I met him, and I never looked back. It didn’t matter to me what name he went by. He was my future. He had a past to fear, but I never thought it would tear us apart in the manner it did. The day he left broke something inside of me. Rage filled my soul where only love had resided before.

Leaning on my family and the club, I push my way through some dark months. Vowing to never allow a man to betray me again. I pick up the pieces and face my new lonely life.

Once an epic love story, now only ashes remain.

This book is not a stand-alone. The Devil’s Angels MC Series must be read prior to this book for the story to be understood .

It was so boring I didn't realize my fingers were skipping pages on my kindle

As someone who fell head over heals with Gunner, Axel, and Pooh I waited patiently for the series.
But it started going downhill after Cash

I hope that the writer picks up her MOJO she had at the beginning of this series

I liked this one but not as much as I loved the other books. I was hoping that it would have been a little better, but it was just missing something.

Whew...wtf is this crap?

It's getting harder to ignore the political dog whistles in these books. The cat litter hoax? Elon Musk? THE F SLUR??????? Literally what was the reason?????????????? Pls go back to just making wholesome funny books cos this was not it.

Aside from the propaganda this book just....sucked

When did Chubs become a super agent hitman type? If I'm to understand this correctly, he went from a wholesome well adjusted, family oriented, aspiring to become a teacher male to street kid in a small amount of time. Then he became a patched brother....pray tell, when did he have time to acquire skills that made him capable of taking out an entire crime family 🤔 same goes for his brother...the BANKER...like HUH?

Also Lucy....who was this Lucy? Cos I know for damn sure this wasn't the same bad ass Lucy who took a bullet for Chubs. This was some weak ass bland fraudulent version of her.

Disappointing. Not enough grovelling, felt rushed at the end. Unnecessary time spent describing what happened to the Vero family. Lucy and Chubs only spend time together the last 30% of the book??????

I feel so dirty and cheated after reading this. Invested my time into this and for what?

Ok. So I won’t lie. I’m a tiny bit disappointed in the way this book went.
First off. There was absolutely zero spice of any kind.
Which Does make sense with how the plot went and the timeline of it all, but that’s my second disappointment.
The whole book was a back and forth of the things happening with Lucy and Chubs while Chubs was away.
There was honestly very little time spent with them together, just a couple scenes at the beginning, and a couple more at the end.
I was really looking forward to all the groveling that Chubs owed Lucy, but we didn’t even get any of it on page.
I would’ve really preferred if the timeline of the book had been more like, 60% on the happenings while Chubs is away, and the rest spent making amends to the club and groveling for all he’s worth to Lucy like she deserved.

*sigh*
I still really enjoyed it.
I’ve been looking forward to figuring out who he is and what secrets Chubs was hiding since the very first book. And we definitely got all of those figured out and put to rights in this book. So that was all very satisfying.
Plus something I was anticipating from Pigeon’s book finally happened, and was epic, so that was fun.

I just wish we got more time with Chubs and Lucy as a couple.
I honestly am not sure if I would really even call this a romance. It was mostly a comedic, action packed book, about a woman coping with heartbreak, and an MC supporting her and trying to find an AWOL brother…
You know what. I know what this felt like, more so than what I just said.
It was like an extended novella between books.
It had all the feeling of being ‘6.5’ in the series, with the length of being 7.

Nothing wrong with that, and I enjoyed the humor and support and getting to know these characters even better while cackling at their antics. I just didn’t expect it to go like that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Now I’m wondering who the next book will be about.
…maybe Rex?…or I guess Horse? But I’m hoping we get at least one more book before Horse’s comes out since we all know who he ends up with already, and I want to meet a new badass lady.

a little disappointing…

This wasn’t bad, but it was a little disappointing for a story that has been teased for several books now. The premise is that Chubs has a secret past that he’s kept hidden from his MC brothers and the love of his life, Lucy. But now that his past is catching up with him, he goes on the run to protect those he loves and to try to resolve the ghosts of his past once and for all.

I liked the actual plot of this. Yes, it was a little slow at times, but the action and suspense elements were actually quite good. I enjoyed the familial aspect of having an ensemble cast who are filled with so much love and wit and slapstick humor. Craig as a character has grown leaps and bounds and much was done with him in this book. I loved the focus on family (both found and blood for Lucy and Chubs) and what a driving force and support it can be during hard times.

For me, where this book failed really hard was in the romance aspect. My issue is not the fact that this was a no-spice romance. I don’t even mind that if there was chemistry. My issue is that right from the beginning of their relationship several books ago, both Chubs and Lucy have been friend-zoned and desexualised as characters so that even in their own book, they are characterized kind of like friends and roommates. We don’t get to feel any chemistry. In fairness, a lot of this stems from the fact that in this book, Chubs and Lucy are rarely in any scenes together. Even when he gets back, their encounters are very lowkey and anticlimactic for two people with their proclaimed levels of feelings and their characterized levels of emotional intelligence. I just felt that they got short shrift and didn’t really get “their book.” This book focused on the action but didn’t focus enough on the softer bits of reconciliation I would have loved to see both with Chubs and Lucy and Chubs and his family. The epilogue was “meh” and didn’t really move the story to the ecstatic HEA levels we could have hoped. I mean in the end, this was okay. But for me, didn’t really deliver on all the promise it had.

Well

I'm disappointed. The story was bland. I expected a lot more after the wait, especially considering all of the very generous 5 star reviews.
Lucy, who seems to have been made into everyone's glowing star, has a complete personality change. Chubs becomes some sort of hitman, which how he acquired these skills is only vaguely explained.
A bone to pick,Lucy's dad wouldn't still be the governor of Colorado. I do wish that authors wouldn't take liberties with things like this.

Now for a few red flags for me.
1) litter boxes?! Really author? you're going to propagate Q conspiracy BS?!

2) the Musk hero worshipping made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. If anyone has been paying attention, especially after his latest acquisition you'd know the dude is bad news.

A big disappointment

Just like other readers, I was eagerly waiting for Chubs story to be told. Yes, that wait was very long but I had high hopes it would be worth it. Unfortunately, this book was a very big disappointment.

The way Lucy is written in this book? Makes her out to be a lackluster copy of the character previously written. Chubs? There is nothing to hold you to his story. Craig and Bella? They know way more about what is going on than any of the adults, besides the aunts that is, could even believe.

I do not recommend this book to anyone who hoped for a true happy ending. I highly regret even reading this book. It totally changed my opinion on the author and on the series.

Big Disappointment

I expected so much from Chubs book, but it fell flat and that is saying it mildly. Even so I gave it 3 stars because I like this series.

That being said I was disappointed in the whole book. First it took me a couple days to read because I couldn't stay invested. Constant inner monologue and the rinse and repeat of Chubs actions. The best part of the book was Chubs being reunited with his family and the Epilogue. I could of done without the rest of the book honestly.

Disappointing.

I so wanted to love it but I couldn’t and found myself page flicking.

There was zero romance, Lucy was a disappointment, chubs story was a drag and the end was rushed.

This felt like a story that should have been a prelude to the actual book. I love chubs and this felt like an insult to his character.

Given this was the last book I wanted to finish on a high and what I go was a story that didn’t have the couple together for about 80% of it.

I’m sorry ladies. I’m usually a die hard for the series but this one wasn’t like the other.

Craig was the best part

Chubs and Lucy’s relationship has been kind of behind the scenes in the other books. I was really hoping we’d see some of their relationship in this book. I felt like chubs revenge part was way too long. Would of loved to see him back earlier on in the book and actually see him and Lucy’s relationship come back together and regain the clubs trust. Everything was rushed at the end. Craig was definitely the star of this book!

Sorry Chubs, you deserved better

I have adored Chubs throughout this entire series and have loved his relationship with Lucy. I understand his reasoning behind pulling a vanishing act to draw the bad guys away from the club and from Lucy and I figured since Lucy knew part of the reason for him leaving that she would understand as well. Nope. Not at all.... Instead we get this bitter version of Lucy that I honestly didn't like and Chubs turns into a ninja/ Navy Seal hybrid. WTH? I gave up at about 78% (or wherever she gets the dog) since this book had already been on my kindle for about a month whereas I devoured the other books in less than a day, mostly because every time i would start reading I wanted to slap Lucy and then ask her with all the research she's done into his background and what she knew why she didn't see this coming. Chubs deserved a WAY better book than this.

Disappointed in Lucy

I understand why Chubs did what he did, but in my opinion, Lucy was way to forgiving. The note: they are my world, but what was Lucy? Second best? Guess that was OK with her. Very, very disappointed.

Disappointing after waiting for Chubs and Lucy’s story for so long. Lucy clearly wasn’t number one for him. She came in second best in my opinion. Didn’t really feel like I was reading a romance.

Disappointed 😞

Just like everyone who follows this series, I have been so excited to read this book. Lucy and Chubs are my favorite. What did I just read, no romance between them, and she acts like a total b****. Of course, Craig was awesome and the pets hilarious but, I am so disappointed.

I squealed, squealed I tell ya when I discovered that Chubs was releasing. I don’t think there’s ever been a book that I’ve hankered after, and a character I’ve loved as much as Chubs. He’s the heart and soul of the Devil’s Angels, but the naughty boy has been hiding a painful and dangerous past.

We were forewarned that Chubs would be a departure from the typically lighthearted Devil’s Angels books, and gah it was. Seeing Chubs gradually dismantle everything he held dear and push away those who loved him the most, in order to make the ultimate sacrifice, was heart wrenching. But I put my faith in Lola, to guide Chubs on his journey, and to give him (and us) closure on what was undoubtedly a painful chapter for both Chubs, and the Devil’s Angels.

Lucy, Chubs’ soulmate was the backbone of the story, she really had the space to come into her own. I feel like a proud momma, seeing these characters grow and steel themselves against troubled times.

Amidst the heartache and the fear, there were moments of pure hilarity - Mac, Craig, Axel and Magnum P.I.G., as always, didn’t disappoint.

I have four words - Nicola still LOVES Chubs!

From the start of this series, Chubs had been a favorite character, he was a bit doofy, loved by everyone. I especially loved how he was with Lucy, the two were cute together. But there were trouble coming for Chubs. In the last few books we would get a hint, with the last book we got quit a bit.

I didn't blame Chubs for leaving, I did blame him for not talking to and trusting those he had built a life with...Lucy and the MC. Had he done that, Lucy would have been waiting for him with open arms, the guys would have gone with him and maybe things could have gone quicker. Instead, Chubs thought he was protecting them all by keeping them in the dark.

It was good when things came out, when Chubs got the help he needed and his old life finally put behind him, letting him to go back to Denver and back to his real life. That is if every one was going to forgive him and let him back in. It took a bit and there will be scars for a while, but things did end on a happy note for them all.

The Devil’s Angels MC: book 7 - Chubs

Chubs is an outstanding read. I absolutely loved Chubs and Lucy’s story ❤️❤️❤️ If you put every emotion available to us humans and tied them in a bag you’d feel everyone of them once you opened it much like you will opening and reading Chubs book. I laughed, cried, stressed, worried, felt concern along with lots of happiness and relief. This has been one of the most highly anticipated and waited on novels for me and I wasn’t let down or disappointed in it. I love Chubs ❤️100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if there was a 10 star rating I’d give one. This is one of the best series I’ve ever read. Lola Wright has outdone herself with the Devil’s Angels MC stories ❤️

Great book

I have always loved Chubs. Then Lucy when she came into the stories. Favorite couple ever. I liked how we got introduced to Chub's family. I hope a book in the future is for them. Lots of drama for sure. I hope there is another book for Chub's next because I don't think he proved himself back into the fold enough. It ended too quickly. I wanted more chapters of his groveling. He deserved it. I was a bit shocked at how it was too quick at the end. I can't wait for the next one.

💚 OMG!

I have loved this series, but this installment is crazy good! I liked Chubs in the previous books but I loved his and Lucy's story.

As with the other books there was comedy drama and steam, though not as spicy as other installments. You will laugh out loud and also bite your lip with drama but this story has a bit more -it has intrigue and a twist or two you don't expect.

I loved this book and didn't stop once I started reading until the end!

Chubs

The long awaited book is here. And all the secrets of Chubs is revealed. But he's running from the mob guys and clearing up pass mistakes. But leaving Lucy and the club can be hard. It was a good book but after the wait I think I expected more.

Chubs

I'm having trouble reviewing this book. I love this series and like everyone else have been waiting for Chubs book. I know we were warned that it was going to be different then the other books. I felt it was to much of the Chicago issue and dragged on. The only thing that kept me reading was Craig. Felt the book didn't have an ending to Chubs and Lucy story.

Only because everyone loves Chubs

Been waiting for this story. The whole mafia thing took me out of the fun and cozy of the series. That story line felt like it was missing parts. Chubs knew what he was goi g to do but kept it all in his head. It never made it on paper. I wad confused following the players and it all became a blur after a while and I wanted it to be over. In the end, its a good thing the MC gave up their 1% patches because their VP is about to loose his guy card. And, was what Chubs recieved true punishment? Little disappoi ted in Lucy for forgiving him so soon after we heard her whine about it chaptwr acter chapter. Still, I love the sdries and will read the next one. But, please Lola. No more animals. Its alnost to much now.

I’m disappointed to be honest.. I, like many others, having been dying to read Chubbs story, and enjoy reading the love between him and Lucy, instead it was what felt like a very disjointed story of Chubbs & Lucy living separately. No love, barely a kiss, it just didn’t sit well with me, I kept waiting for something more
I loved Craig of course, and all the others but it just didn’t leave me with the same feeling as all the other books which I have loved, I’m still looking forward to more and hopefully more on Candy

2 1/2stars. It was ok. It was definitely not a book about Chubs and Lucy. It was a story about Chubs, and another story about Lucy for about 90%. Author did a great job describing Lucy’s pain and her trying to move on without Chubs throughout the book. It seemed like all of a sudden they were back together. She seemed to go through such a character transformation that I can’t believe they would still get along as a couple. I just didn’t feel the reconciliation. To me, it was really off balance, and I needed a lot more of them getting back together since the break up so definitive. It seemed more of a reality him getting back with the club since that seemed better vetted. Secondary characters were entertaining as always—even the unrealistic animals and evil genius children. I just really expected more of the reconciliation, since so many hurt feeling were explained through the whole story. 10% of the couple even being in the same place—not even together—wasn’t enough for me

There’s no plot, the actual “plot” could probably be 10% of the book.

I read this book once before and put five stars. I just re-read the book and it went down to two stars. The plot of the book isn’t the focus . The author puts more side conversations that are either mean less or the humor that my 2.5 year old niece giggles at. Craig taking Bart to school, why did the at part of the story line need to take up pages? There’s more of bullying Axel written into this book than is about Chubs. For it being “Chubs” book it features any information about Chubs the LEAST. It was Craig and the monkey (I’m sorry skunk and bird) show, with all the other characters drama and “hilarious” jokes mixed in. This is not a biker series, it’s not a romance series either really.

A little dissatisfied

I have been looking forward Chubs book ever since he made his appearance in the other books. I love Chubs and love Lucy. But I'm very disappointed in how this book turned out. It focused more on Lucy by herself and chubs doing what he left get to do. But we d
Hardly get any Lucy and Chubs together time. No love serves at all.
I did enjoy all the Axel and Craig and the animals mayhem.
I just wish this book focussed more on Chubs and Lucy together. Also, I just don't buy that Lucy would forgive him as fast as she did.
Hope the next book will be back to the level as the previous ones.

This was not at all what I was expecting. We've known for the last several books that something was going on with Chubs, the H. We just didn't know what or why just that it was big. We get all the answers. It was definitely a very different plot. Chubs side of the story just dragged on and on. He and Lucy, the h, are apart for the majority of the book. I would have liked more time spent on his return and how he made amends to those who felt wronged. He had some serious groveling to do and we only saw a glimpse of it with Lucy and the club. The plot was good but I felt the execution of it was way off. I also felt the humor in this one was way over the top.

ok but not best of series

Liked: the cast of characters is always amusing. Nice to catch up with them. I think Craig is my favorite.

Disliked: The story was not like the others, Chubbs just off and leaving for months was ridiculous. He was the most loyal guy seems out of character to just run away. He didn’t stay and fight. The ending was to short and the epilogue felt rushed.
Lucy is also just to nice. And the author had her forgiving him quite quickly and easily.

Not the best of the series. But it wasn’t horrible.
