Fantastic space opera

Another great installment of a fantastic military sci fi series. Love Grimm and his crew. Here it is about the return of the sinister Guild. I very much enjoy seeing them working to influence a planet's election and also throw military force behind a corrupt government. I think the author let's the bad guys off the hook a bit too much with Russian pro...oh, sorry, Guild propaganda, though.

A step down in quality and story

I absolutely love the Grimm’s War series and have probably been spoiled. However, this book was a bit of a disappointment. It felt rushed and the quality suffered with some glaring errors and repetitions that weren’t in previous books. The book also was significantly shorter in length. I hope Haskell (and his editor) takes a step back and takes the time to get it right again. I really look forward to the next edition.

In book 6 the Interceptor and Commander Grimm are babysitting an ambassador and his wife plus attendants. They're going to a distant planet that is halfway between two empires. So far, so good.

Things get interesting right from the start. The planet is having problems that soon will blow up in Commander Grimm's face. He and his marines will have some hard choices to face. If that's not enough some people are playing dirty just to throw a wrench in the plans. And an old nemesis is returning. The only question is when.

I really enjoyed book six. It's tight, and while it's not a massive space opera story like some of the earlier books have been, that's alright. I have a feeling this book will lead directly to what happens next with the Caliphate, the Guild, and more. Since most of the action is restricted to just a single planet it makes the characters pop and come alive, which I really enjoyed. We also get to see the commander's emotional side which was good.

The editing is solid and the plot flows. What more could you ask from a book like this? 5/5*

I like this but be warned. It ends on a cliffhanger. It’s also about 90 pages shorter than book 4; think author cut one long story into two. Not happy about that.

Also all the books in series have a great deal of fast plot balancing with story/character building. This one is less balanced with more plot because our favorite Interceptor crew and Nadia don’t get much development. Nadia gets less than a page. Instead we have rich settings on the planet (which I enjoy) and some development of minor characters.

First half is dull.

Don't get me wrong, this is still a very good novel, just not quite up to Mr. Haskell's standards set in the other Grimm War books.

Great Book

A Grimm Decision is the best tale yet in the series. Commander Grimm is now running a Destroyer Squadron (Desron) consisting of four destroyers and act as the opportunity (opposing force) for his navy. Unexpectedly they receive new orders to escort two hundred marines and an Ambassador to the planet Cordoba.

Once again we find Captain Grimm up to his neck of trouble

Once again we find the Interceptor at war, what was expected to be a simple matter of delivering the Ambassador to the planet Cordoba. But it's never going to be as simple as that, the guild has it's own plans for the planet.

The worst book in the series, by far.
The first third of the book is abysmally boring.
The rest is hardly more interesting:
The author does not master his story of a coup d'état, full of inconsistencies and logical errors. Too many uninteresting points of view, too few real action scenes, almost always devoid of the slightest suspense.
Even the mini space battle at the end of the book is disappointing.
Everything is botched, and what's more, the main story of this book is not finished, for the first time in this series. Which means that this 6th part, failed, will start again on the same bases in the next part.

A Grimm Universe🚀💫🌏💥
Military sci-fi space opera
This is book 6 in a 7 book series Of a continuing story So it is probably best to read in order but the books are all available for free on Amazon📚 kindle unlimited .

This book has the Grimm crew from the Interceptor🚀 down on the hostile planet Cordoba🌏 Trying to destroy the faster than light device, which proves Much harder than they thought.

Of course this novel ends in a cliffhanger And Causes it to lose a star⭐ in the review.
And now you're stuck in a cliffhanger until April 2024! That's Six months from now. The danger is that readers will forget all about this series and will have moved on to other sci-fi authors.

Back to form

Book 5 in this series was a blip as book 6 kicks the story back to being at its very best and shows why it's no1 best seller on Amazon

#6 in the Grimm's War series.

This book had a very slow start. I mean, oy vey it was boring! I believe it was around the 40-40% mark that interesting things finally started to happen. From that point until the end, it was an absorbing read.

Jacob and the Interceptor are assigned escort duty for an Alliance diplomat heading to the planet Cordoba. Unbeknownst to them, a violent coup is in the works. To make matters worse, the smarmy Guild is behind the whole mess. (They're the instigators of hate and discontent in this universe.)

There were some terrific fighting scenes. Planetside, Jennings, Bond and the Marines have their work cut out for them, let me tell you! Hoorahs all around :) In the Interceptor above, the friendlies all of a sudden weren't. There were some decent space engagements, especially with the Guild cruiser.

Good characterization, as usual. The destroyer's crew and the Marines all have distinct personalities. I love stories like this. The dialogue was very good, too. Really, the only problem was the pacing issue that I'd mentioned.

I preordered the next one in the series. I believe it comes out next month, if I'm not mistaken. I hope that it's not the end of this entertaining series!

I am really enjoying the Grimm series, but I just want to pass along a note to Mr. Haskell. Please find a new proofreader! The errors are obvious and completely understandable. A book goes through numerous drafts so logical inconsistencies because of plot alterations and typos and unnecessary repetition are all understandable in drafts, just not the finished product. Find some fresh eyes to read it over.
Also, I like that the fleet ships and battles are more akin to oceanic/submarine warfare and handling. It's a refreshing take on it, and it's FICTION, so don't listen to those who argue that "in reality..."
One last thing, I get that you've built a black and white universe where the good guys are GOOD and the bad guys are BAD, but I don't buy the murder at the end. It's a bit too far of a stretch for me. Just saying.
I also don't mind ending the book in the middle of a battle. It's a series. I would read the next one anyway because I like military sci-fi, and this is solid military sci-fi.
Just find that proofreader!

I wish this story were complete but large chunks were cut out and replaced by filler because the author wanted to split it into 2 books. I liked the conflict and personal drama but the reason for the 2 stars is solely due to the 'plan' in the last part of the book.

It required sacrificing non-combatants to save the Interceptor and crew. Grimm's character (up to this point) has cared for all lives and this didn't feel right to me.

Anyway. The arc was a tad predictable but written better than the last book. It kept the action and multi-person perspective, and it even had unexpected moments.

If you like the Grimm books, I'd recommend this too.

really good.

This author gives a great story & believable characters. The plots are always exciting as well as the battles, whether those are with ships in space or soldiers on the ground. Interceptor & it’s compliment of spacers and marines are caught off guard by treachery this time, losing much. The worst of it….? There’s not a lot Grimm can do about it. Or.. is there ?? Must he flee, leaving many of his people behind, flying for home to gather help, (which would take months) or stay to protect his people and go up against a ship that far exceeds his in tonnage as well as weapon technology?
Looking forward to June & book 7 release.

Grimm Rides Again!

This just series keeps getting better and better.
This one sees action on a planet named Cordoba and there are lots of twists and turns along the way.
Haskell shows his characters do not use plot armor in this one, so hold on tight.
The end sets up for the next book and I am already excited for book 7.
This may be the best book in the series so far.

Do not read this one first. Start at the beginning and you will be in for a great ride.

I highly recommend this book.

Highly entertaining

Worth the time and a good continuation of the series
Story is well thought out with the Guild getting up to their old tricks and their old mistakes
You do wonder how an organization as big as the Guild could be this successful and yet this inept, but thankfully they are and the interceptor and cre take full advantage
Nice ending, with book 7 an obvious continuation

Somebody switched the writer! Having read the previous five books, one would expect this sixth installment to be fast paced, intriguing, and showing Grimm's resourcefullness and luck. I could not get beyond the 36%. Dull, annoying, sometimes even flatly dumb, it is a huge step down in history, plot, characters and everything else. I advise readers to stop on book 5, and pretend that A Grimm Decision never made it to the presses.

Another terrific addition to the space sci-fi series centered on Commander Jacob Grimm and the crew of the Interceptor. The story starts with a seemingly easy task to ferry an ambassador to an independent planet and run training exercises with the planet's Navy and Army. Of course, challenges await the intrepid captain and crew of Interceptor. New twists keep the story fresh. Eagerly awaiting the next installment in this great series of books!

Hang onto your seat!

Non stop action! Great character development. Great plot. Jeffery, keep them coming, this story line has endless possibilities. Don't make the mistake of killing off the principles, I just stopped reading another writer's work because he did just that. Other readers did the same. A long running series with this quality will keep us coming back. Keep up the good work!

Good story made possible by good writing

This has been a series worth following.

The story would have been something to slug through in the hands of a lesser mortal.

But Jeffrey brought it to life with his unique way of writing.

I do object though to the way he sometimes characterize certain cultures. A well-balanced perceptive wouldn't hurt.

Good read.

The only real issue I have with the book is how short it is, honestly. It's considerably shorter than any of the other books, like the author chopped the book in half, especially with that cliffhanger-ish ending. The pacing of these books has always been fast and eventful but this one takes the cake. I can't wait until the next one.

‘Wet Navy’ in Space Saga All Wet

The continuing ‘wet navy’ saga of “A Grimm Decision: …(Grimm’s War) Book 6” is soaked with space warships more akin to submarines with deck guns, poor decision-making by the protagonist, as he navel-gazes incessantly. What was once an okay entertainment read has sunk to the bottom.

Read fully via KU with some notes/highlights on Goodreads.

Good, but

A good book, well written like the rest in the series but it lacks the excitement of the previous books. I knew everything that was going to happen and it was just a case of reading and waiting. Unlike the other books in the series, there were no twists and turns in the story.

I have absolutely enjoyed reading Grimm's War series. The characters are well developed, and you can see the growth through out the books. Each of the books world- building is real good, the story draws you in.
I look forward to reading the next adventure of Jacob Grimm and his crew.

Great series - can’t wait for the next one!

I really enjoy this series. A wide range of characters that are fully fleshed out. Excellent story lines that aren’t too convoluted, but are believable, considering the setting. Nice explanations of the science involved. I could see some spin-off series from this. Really enjoyable.

Amazing writing

I cannot say enough about this series if you are an avid reader and love a good storyline. It has action, commeradery, marine humor and great relationships! All with great thought out technical jargon AND without the bad language you find unnecessary in so much writing of today. Get these books, you will not be sorry.

Another solid tale

I would have given 5 stars but for the editing. It I AWFUL! Word usage errors, including incorrect homonyms, were common. There are numerous 6th grade level grammatical errors. If I were the author or editor I’d farm the prepublication draft out to proofreaders. I proofread for a few authors and help polish the product but have not seen this level of inaccuracy even then.

Captain Grimm is tasked with a diplomatic mission to a small, neutral planet with a Spanish-origin population. A military coup ups the stakes and puts everyone in danger, and Grimm and his crew and marines must rise to a life or death challenge: to protect the innocent on the planet and hopefully not die in the process. Excellent as always.

Very good

A good addition to the series. There was a bit of a cliff hanger. If I had known, I might have waited for the next book to be done before reading this one. I do love this series. It was very well written.
