Fog Lake City has a community of stray dogs called the Den. One of them is a four-year-old male named Scar, who was abandoned at a young age and prefers being alone.
Roaming the streets, he discovers a young husky puppy named Comet left in a box in an alleyway. Forming an unexpected bond, Scar and Comet try to survive on the cold winter streets of Fog Lake City.
After a sudden encounter with his former owner, Scar feels trapped in between two worlds. Is he a lonely stray or a lovable pet? He now has to decide where he truly belongs and what it means to be a family.
Amazing, spectacular, baffling - whatever you want to call it - this book is truly one of the best there is. Two pages in and I just couldn't stop reading. Not even the screaming and laughing of my household companions and the fact that I was sitting on the cold wooden floor could deter my commitment to this book. I started it yesterday, and hope to finish it as soon as possible. One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs or even just a great story to read anywhere.
Great job, Catherine! I love your writing so much and it has encouraged me to follow my dreams of becoming a young author. I hope you can do another presentation at my school sometime this year!
I'm not a dog person, but I appreciated this book! The found family trope is done very well and I genuinely think this how dogs think and talk to each other. Great job Catherine :)
