Book Two of the Firebird series did not disappoint. Spiritual thread on target and not overdone. And the author did one of my favorite things in a series--she finished the current book on a good note, then at the very last, she kicked the door open for Book Three with a suspenseful cliffhanger. I liked the way all the characters matured through the story--even the secondary characters weren't static but their own story lines changed with the twisty plot. Looking forward to the next installment!

On par with Chronicles of Narnia!

Such a great second book!! Definitely leaves you wanting more, but not too much of a cliffhanger, just a natural stopping point in the story.

Fire is in her veins as danger draws closer...

Mages and mermaids. Specters and dragons. Curses and prophecies. The Girl With Fire In Her Veins has all of that and plenty more where that came from... Yes, the second Firebird novel was every bit as exciting and twisty-turny as the first one in this series from Dawn Ford.

And there are LOTS of twists and turns in The Girl With Fire In Her Veins. Some of them make you want to cheer and some make you want to wail a loud “noooooo!” Once again Tambrynn and Lucas are on the march and on the wing as they find both friend and foe in surprising places.

Once again Dawn Ford has woven a tale that is very much a fantasy adventure but features faith at its forefront. The Firebird series is an interesting take on both of those, I guess you could call them topics. The part I found the most intriguing was Tambrynn's inner struggles with her growing power and the temptations it brings.

The Girl With Fire In Her Veins was an exciting read and my only complaint about this YA aimed story that can also be enjoyed by adults, is that now I have finished I have to wait for the third Firebird novel to come out so I can find out what new dire straits Dawn Ford will put her characters through in their continuing battle against surprisingly ancient evil. And what new secrets will be brought to light...

(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)

There aren't enough words for me to summarize the continuity of this story. With all the components of love, family, growth, strength, past hurts, and continued decisions and actions I couldn't put the book down. I cannot wait for book three because I need to see what happens ❤️

Tambrynn's and Lucas's adventures are told, first, in The Girl with Stars in Her Eyes. Now they're back in The Girl with Fire in Her Veins. And together with Tambrynn's grandfather Bennett, and dragon/woman named Audhild, they must journey to strive to defeat those on the side of darkness in their realm, including Tambrynn's vile father Thoron. It's been discovered that Tambrynn is a firebird, and she can transform and fly in an instant (well, while she's burning, too!). She is so new to her powers that they're not completely under her control yet, sometimes to the pain of those around her. She can also mimic the appearance of others.

All those abilities are going to be both necessary and helpful in the quest before her. Can Tambrynn, along with her Watcher, Lucas, journey to the Tree of Life in order to undo the destruction that Thoron, and others, wish to bring against it and against the Kinsman? They'll need to win the trust of some, and defeat the dread power of others, to get to their destination. And, perhaps most importantly, listen to the voice of the Kinsman.

Tambrynn's second tale is an incredible read; but it's also the second step in the eventual three books that will tell the story of the Firebird, the Watcher, and the Kinsman. Don't miss this book if you're a fan of Tolkien, Lewis, or fantasy!

Young Adult Christian Fantasy is not a genre that truly interests me. I also enjoy books that are a part of a series. I recently read The Girl with Fire in Her Veins. by Dawn Ford, It is Book 2 in the Firebird Series. I read Book 1 a time ago and have been anxiously waiting for Book 2.

Tambrynn, a former servant girl, is struggling with her new "Magical Abilities" especially the Fire Inside her she cannot control. She really wants some answers to this, so her Grandfather Bennett, Watcher Lucas, and herself travel to a hidden mountaintop to figure things out. Just as Tambrynn is starting to feel safe, she has new attacks against her. Those include a new Dragon, a mergirl, and Siltworth. Her own father, Thoron, who she escaped from after many years of being his servant, attacks someone she loves and it infuriates Tambrynn. Will Tambrynn find the answers she needs about her new "Magical Abilities? Will she be strong and be able to withstand the attacks against her and her group?

The wait for Book 2 was well worth it. I was able to get into the storyline in the first chapter, whereas Book 1 took me a few chapters. I really LOVE how Tambrynn has friends who support and love her and want to help her enjoy life away from servanthood. The attacks against Tambrynn seem to make her stronger and give her the courage to fight against them and come out "winner". I really enjoyed this book and I think anyone who LOVES Christian Fantasy will enjoy it also. FANTASTIC BOOK!

The Girl with Fire in Her Veins is the second book in Dawn Ford’s Firebird Series. As with any series I think it would have been beneficial to have a “previously in…” section at the start to remind readers what has happened prior to the current story. A refresher would allow readers to understand the story from the first page without having to try to remember the previous book as they get into the current book.
From what I can remember the book starts soon after book one ends. As Tambrynn learns more about how to use her powers, she, her Watcher Lucas, and her grandfather avoid the evil forces of her father. They also need to discern whether new creatures/people they meet are friend or foe.
The Girl with Fire in Her Veins has many elements of fantasy - a journey or quest, mythical creatures, magic, good vs. evil. It is a well-written story and draws readers into the plot.
The book does end with a cliffhanger and a promise that the series is “to be continued…” I look forward to reading the next book.
The Girl with Fire in Her Veins would be a good addition to a K-12 Christian school library. It is appropriate for middle school and up.
I received a complimentary copy of The Girl with Fire in Her Veins. This is my honest review.

I love the depths the author has gone through to deliver a world that is complex and filled with variety. As a reader, I can tell she's given great thought to the different types of people and creatures in her fantasy world. They have full mythologies that give readers insight into their actions. The land itself is also well laid out for readers and easily imagined in detail. These make reading this story a pleasure.

While it was not what kept me turning pages, the relationship between Tambrynn and her Watcher (established in the first book, so no spoilers here), was well-written and peppered in throughout the book without becoming a distraction from the real heartbeat of the story. As for the rest of the characters, I thought they were also well done. There's enough conflict in them to keep you guessing as to their movies, just like in the real world. Readers will cheer on the good ones and find themselves wishing they could intervene in the evil the villains are intent on causing.

The Girl with Fire in Her Veins is a great fantasy story, and I can't wait for book three to release this year. I give it five stars.

I enjoyed continuing with Tambrynn on her journey to discover more about her powers and how to use them for good! The story picks up where the last one left off, so it is a series that must be read in order. It's also a series that isn't complete and ends with a cliffhanger, so if you don't like to wait for a series to come out, I would recommend holding off starting this one.

I enjoyed the characters and how well written the world is. It's a wonderful, fantasy style story with plenty of adventure and magical creatures. Tambrynn must learn some discernment, along with figuring out how to use her gift.
I highly recommend picking this story up!

The Girl With Fire in Her Veins Book Two in the Firebird series by Dawn Ford did not disappoint. This book has suspense, adventure, more magic, and the danger doesn't stop. As she learns more about her magic, her, Lucas and her grandfather try to avoid Thoron and his beasts. This book introduces new characters such as the merfolk and a new dragon, as well as new challenges for Tambrynn that she must overcome. I really enjoyed book two and I'm excited for book three to come out in a few weeks.

Book 2 keeps the story going

Book 2 in the Firebird series is a great continuation. I enjoyed seeing where the story took Tambryn and her watcher. I am curious to see what will happen in book 3.

Tambrynn's adventures continue as she tries to right the wrongs her father has committed, learn to use her magic, and discern friends from foes.

My favorite part was when Tambrynn used her fire power to reshape metal into jewelry.

Good second book in the series. Picks up right after the first book. Starts a little slow, but quickly picks up speed. And I didn't mind easing back into the story world. I was already invested. ;) This story adds a few new characters just as fun as the original book, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next. The lands in this series are richly developed so that you feel like you're visiting along with the characters.

Fire in Her Veins

This is book two in the Firebird series. Tambrynn is on a quest with her grandfather and her watcher Lucas. They are looking for answers to help Tambrynn learn to control her Firebird powers. On their quest to her grandfather’s hidden mountain keep Tambrynn has a run in with a mysterious dragon. She also learns about the history of the land and the mistreatment of many of the creature races by the eldrin. After making it to the keep Tambrynn is shocked to discover that the dragon is also there and Audhild the fire dragon. Audhild attempts to communicate with the dragon and understand why he is so deeply in pain. Tambrynn eventually is able to communicate with the dragon, Rekspire, and learns about her father, Mage Thoron and the evil he has been inflicting throughout the land. After Tambrynn has a glimpse into Rekspire thoughts it is vitally important that they come up with a way to stop Thoron but before they get to that task they must stop a flood that is threatening to destroy Anavrin and the Zoe Tree. I loved every part of this book, it was interesting to read about the land and the interactions with the different inhabitants including merfols, froggen and trellers. Dawn Ford has done a masterful job creating a world of fantasy and adventure.

I was so happy to jump right into part 2 of Tambrynn’s story!

Tambrynn, her grandfather Bennett, and Lucas make the dangerous journey through Anavarin to her grandfather’s hidden home in the mountains. Upon their arrival, they realize that their safe haven might not be as safe as they hope. Audhild, the red fire dragon, trains Tambrynn on how to use and control her growing powers, and the black elemental dragon, Rekspire, proves to be a much needed ally. Together, they all must stop Thoron from siphoning more power, but other evil creatures also have plans to take over the kingdom. Can Tambrynn save the kingdom and unravel her father’s plans?

This book made me so happy! Seeing Tambrynn grow more confidently in her own skin and powers was so rewarding to witness. I absolutely love the dragons! I would love to be as wise and fierce as Audhild and as bold as Rekspire. The magical, mythical, and legend-like creatures that roam the kingdom of Anavrin added so much lore to the story, and seeing some of the more sinister characters find redemption is another win for me. I enjoy seeing Tambrynn and Lucas’s love story unfold, however, something seems amiss to me but I could be wrong.

I highly recommend book 2 of the Firebird Series and cannot wait to dive into book 3!
