First of all, it is a real dictionary.
It actually reads from A to Z. so you can treat it like a dictionary or have fun and read from A to Z.
It is geared toward the Bible in contents including Biblical words, terms, ideas, concepts, places, persons, or biblical topics of interest. However, this is also an excellent dictionary even if you are not looking for something of just biblical interest. You make new connections between ideas and places.
Finally, there are color plates. Not many but it is not all black and white.
As with any dictionary, you think you know what a word or place is but you may not be thinking the same as the Item you are reading and this dictionary can expand your understanding.
The only thing to be aware of is that new items come to light daily and the dictionary was compiled several decades ago. This still does not distract from the rating.

The bottom line: A priceless and complete tool whose scope seems limitless and whose breadth excels beyond that of a regular dictionary.

I am in the process of taking a college class on the Old Testament. This book has been a very handy and concise edition. Full of useful facts!

this is very useful but a little on the liberal side for my theological tastes. Be sure to get another source if you are using this one.
