Rashana is a powerful empath. As a child she’s been kept locked up, subjected to experiments by her father who sought to harness/steal her power. When rebels seize the lab, she’s drugged and placed in a stasis pod.
Upon awakening, she discovers her father is dead, the rebels are in charge of the ship, and the alien doctor is oh, so sexy.
After all the women on his planet were destroyed, Mek never expected to meet a mate of his own species (Rashana is a hybrid). He tries to keep his attention “professional,” but the bond between them is too strong to resist.
But there are secrets to discover and troubles to overcome before this couple can have their HEA.
Mated to Mek was an engaging read. The beginning hooked me right away, and the ending was super exciting. I had no idea how the author would manage to rescue the couple. Also, I loved the little robot. She’s adorable.
If you like sci-fi romance, you can’t go wrong with this one. You don't have to read the other books in the series to enjoy this one. It can be read as a standalone.

Storyline is intriguing but would like a bit more world building elemnts
Something different, twists and turns in the storyline cause my attention and held it much as the prison cell Rashanna was held in. An experiment in creating life Dr. Frankenstein would have envied. A romance tale with some rough spots that had to be overcome. A dating edge of the seat rescue and a villain worthy of the most despicable, diabolical acts.
Though, I really enjoyed the story and it’s link to the rest of the series, the reason for the four out of five starts is because the world building was a bit vague. Descriptions of places, animals and history lacked enough descriptive wording for me to picture the environment and beings well enough, which usually doesn’t take much. Still I would recommend this tale to those who enjoy sci-if fantasy in the rough.

I "LOVE" the Galactic Pirate Brides series and this is another great book in the collection. This story is about Mek and Rashana. The characters were wonderful and allowed me to get reacquainted with the characters I adore (crew members etc.) from the previous books. I got very invested reading Mek and Rashana's romantic adventure story. Dr. Dollard a controlling mad scientist father experimented on his daughter Rashana. Dollard lost two arms dragging the pod away from the attack by the Hardship's crew but lost it. Opening the cryopod on board the Icarus spaceship's lab, they find Rashana who awakens first thinking it's a test by her father. She meets Mek who can block her powers and Mek tells her "She's safe.", but when she sees guards outside her door, she uses her powers against them to escape. What occurs is a story of drama, action and romance that I enjoyed reading. Can Rashana trust what she sees and feels about Mek the doctor? What about her powers, will the crew accept and trust her? Is she truly safe? I volunteer to read and review this delightful copy I received.

Dr. Dollard is the epitome of the mad scientist. He even made his daughter Rashana a test subject and kept her confined in a cage. Rashana was powerful and scared her father. She could manipulate and control the emotions of other people, and Dr. Dollard was only comfortable when he was the one in charge.
Rashana was not his only victim. He had involuntarily turned people into cyborgs, and many people hated him. So it was no surprise that his spaceship was under attack. But he didn’t want to lose his favorite test subject, so he drugged Rashana and put her in a cryo pod.
The pirates and cyborgs who took over Dr. Dollard’s ship found Rashana’s cryo pod. And so Rashana’s real life begins….
I loved coming along for the ride and seeing how Rashana learns to live and love in the messy real world.

Rashana and Mek are the most engaging characters, both carry scars of the past, neither believes they can find or be worthy of lasting love. But oh boy the future has surprises in store. It was an exciting read, following these two and so many other great characters from previous books in the series. Even cliffhangers enhance and draw the reader further into the future novels.

So Exciting
It feels like I’ve waited forever for this book! Mek and Rashanna were so good together. I was terrified he wouldn’t find her in time and breathed a big sigh of relief when he did. This book was full of action, sexy times and wonderful characters. The world building is unique enough where I didn’t feel like I was reading a cookie cutter story. I’m looking forward to the next book and eventually Rust’s story.

Mek meets his Match
As usual Tamsin Ley has spun us an enthralling tale of love and adversity.
Starting with a rescue the tale goes from there. Can there be trust for a female whom can kill with the power of her mind?
Throw in an unscrupulous scientist and you have the bones of a rare tale.

What I liked about Rashana was her willingness to step out of the boundaries she was raised in, and take charge in her choices. Dr. D is less than honorable, but somehow, her natural niceness overrode his nastiness.

A good read…
Rashana had been raised in a lab, subjected to heinous experiments and callous disregard. She’d been betrayed her entire life so it shouldn’t have surprised her when it happened again. Mek’s kindness and gentle touch left her hopefully optimistic about the future. Trust didn’t come easy… I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.

Great story !! Can't wait to read more !!
What an interesting read !! I enjoyed this story of Dr Mek, and Rashanna, the hybrid .
She has been experimented on since she can remember, and when she wakes up, she tries to finally free herself .
But Dr Mek , with his ionic senses , can sense her disturbance , and tries to calm her.
A whole new world is awakening for Rashanna.
Will she be able to function in a normal way, or will the rest of the crew want her locked away ?? Again.....
This book had great action and I was a wonderful storyline with very Interesting , intriguing characters , and I would love to read more about them !! I think that this is the 5th book so I will have to go get the rest !! Got a new author and series now !!!

If you enjoy science fiction then this is one journey you want to one-click and read asap.

This was a great dive back into the series but it certainly had a dark background. Rashana had been raised in a lab and subjected to heinous experiments by her father. He also put her into cryo sleep to try and protect his personal lab rat when it was attacked. She certainly expected more of the same when she was released from cryo sleep but got waay more than she had ever dreamed of by Mek. His kindness, caring and gentleness gave her great hope for the future as she let trust start to build between them. I was thrilled with how the romance unfolded for this wonderful couple :D

With each book in this series, it feels like the attraction takes hold quicker and quicker, BUT there's always plenty of drama and action to round out the story and keep things interesting and moving into the next love story. Love that they end in HEAs, I'm a sucker for it. The Denaidan men love their women, and we love to see it!
