A gorgeous day in paradise, but Allie Worth has more on her mind than sunshine, white sand, and the sparkling Gulf of Mexico. It’s spring training for the Richmond Rogues. The entire town turns out for Rogues’ Fest, a weekend of beach activities to rally fans for the upcoming season. The fun begins with a canoe race.
Allie has entered the race. Unfortunately, she’s up the creek without a paddle when her partner bails on her at the last minute. As Fate would have it, a handsome stranger in a hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, and sexy scruff agrees to be her partner. Their strokes are in sync. A meant to be.
Max Traxer has arrived in the small beachside town early for spring training. The newest member of the Rogues. He planned to keep a low profile until Media Day, donning nondescript clothing to keep away curious fans. He’ll have time to be all-Rogue when the team gathers for a launch-the-season retreat at Sunkissed Key, an island far from groupies and other distractions.
A weekend attraction heats between Allie and Max, soon going cold when unshared secrets complicate their lives. Are they truly who they say they are? Or are they hiding their real identities? Will they stay together or go their separate ways?

Just Beachy continues with the Rogues baseball team in Barefoot William but is the first book in the Sunkissed Key series and I am so looking forward to reading more. This is Max and Allie's story and they had chemistry from the moment they met even if they didn't know who the other really was. I loved how their relationship blossomed and was the real deal.
It was great to be back in Barefoot William with characters we've met before along with reminisces of the small businesses and the boardwalk. There was lots to do and see and it was like I never left even though it's been awhile since I've had the pleasure of reading a book set there. Getting to see Allie's family's mansion again was a treat and seeing Scottie, Allie's sister, in her element with her B&B was heartwarming.
There was a lot of testosterone with the starting lineup of the Rogues on a retreat at the island mansion and watching their interactions, camaraderie and sportsmanship helped set the tone and I would have loved to have been there. Lots of festivities, good food, tours, the beach, the sun, family, friendships, baseball and romance. What more could you want? There was a depth to the characters and the story moved at a nice pace. There was some closure with a happily ever after in the offing and I can't wait to meet up with these characters again!
I loved, loved, loved Allie and Max and their instant love story in Just Beachy by Kate Angell, book one in her Barefoot William/Sunkissed Key series. This wonderful book brings the reader once again back to Barefoot William, a new group of Rogues, and a new family, the Worths; and kidnapped me from page one until I turned the last page. Store owner and Barefoot William resident Allie Worth and Max Traxer, the new shortstop for the Rogues, connect unexpectedly. Without sharing last names, these two spend a wonderful and amazing day together, getting to know each other better in one day than some couple in years. A second unexpected encounter, while both are supposed to be bus, leads to uncovering secrets, last names, and a bonding experience for the starting Rogues.
Ms. Angell wrote a wonderful, emotional, and humorous instant love story that is not to be missed. This story is filled with sizzling chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. I totally want to retire in Barefoot William or at least winter there. This book should definitely be on everyone’s reading list. I highly recommend Just Beachy to other readers and cannot wait for the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Such a fun, “beachy” read, just what I needed to make me smile. Max and Allie are great characters and their road to a relationship is roundabout but fun. I especially loved her big brother’s (Brogan’s)...let’s call it attitude (!) and one of her sisters, Scottie. And not to mention Captain Worth.
Max is a wonderful character. He’s a new Rogue player and he isn’t impressed with himself. He tries to always do the right thing; even when it’s uncomfortable. And Allie – she strikes me as strong in her opinions and sure of herself, but not bossy. I love how she handles the folks in Barefoot William (and Sunkissed Key island). She is always respectful but doesn’t let anyone step on her toes.
Read this book in one evening. It really was lighthearted and fun and also had characters that will drive you crazy. There’s a picture in my head of a Speedo bathing suit...you’ll have to read it to understand and enjoy. Cracked me up! And Hudson...hooboy. He’ll make you crazy! But at its heart, it is about Max and Allie. They really are perfect for one another!
Romance and baseball lovers alike will adore JUST BEACHY, a perfect swoony tale perfectly timed for baseball's big spring event.
⚾️ Author Kate Angell swept me away with the fast burn romance between Allie Worth, an antique boutique owner, and Max Traxer, champion new member of the Richmond Rogues baseball team, now spring training in Barefoot William and Sunkissed Key.
💙 I loved the relatable characters (each with their quirks and hurts), the lush scenery, the lovely tale that quickly captured me. JUST BEACHY is another fun winner from one of my fav writers! Highly recommended.
Thanks to author Kate Angell for the much-appreciated ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Looked forward to returning to the Richmond Rogues
The wait was well worth it. Even thought this is a much shorter story than I normally like, Kate Angell grabbed my attention and held on to the last line! Her books bring you characters that feel like good friends!
I love these books about the Rogues so glad for new characters so the series will continue. It’s also nice to see some of the characters from previous books mentioned.
