Deep Ops #6

Frostbitten

Rate this book
Enigmatic. With a wildly gifted mind, and an untamed head of hair to match, petite powerhouse Millicent Frost is brilliant when it comes to gadgets and electronics—less so with people. After an attempt to bust a bank scam goes awry, Millie is in hot water with Homeland Security and targeted by lethal enemies. In the midst of the trouble, she heads home to help out with the family hunting and fishing business. But when their rival competitor and Millie’s ex is murdered, she’s the number one suspect . . .

Irresistible. Former Marine turned lawyer Scott Terentson devotes himself to getting his clients out of tricky binds. A loner, the last thing he wants is to belong to any team, yet the Deep Ops group considers him one of their own—and he pays the price by getting shot at by their enemies. Now Millie is seeking his help—just as he’s dealing with a brutal fail regarding a recent trial. Both are a headache, yet he’s drawn to Millie in spite of himself. They’re opposites, but maybe the old adage is true . . .

Electric. Working together, Millie and Scott soon have more on their hands than they bargained for as the danger escalates—along with the sizzling heat between them. And when a disappearance is thrown into the mix, all bets are off . . .

Millicent Frost is Considered the gadgets queen, by anyone who knows her

In one of the previous books Millie had been reassigned by Homeland Defense Department (HDD) in an effort to break up Deep Ops team

Former Marine turned lawyer Scott Terentson devotes himself to getting his clients out of sticky situations …. The man was pretty much great at anything that he did it showed in his work….… my god the man even took a Bullet for Angus…… It didn’t hurt at all that he looked sexy as all heck and just about anything

Scott and Millie both seem to be working the same Client Different reasons……. But somehow only Millie is the one in trouble

Millie makes the short drive to Virginia to where her family lives to clear her head , to check on her aunt and their business

So, then Millie decides to go hang out with a few of her Close friends at the local pub that she has grown up with……
Now Imagine how Surprised Millie was to wake up covered in her teenage ex-boyfriend’s bed covered in his blood naked With no memory of how she got there…..

As always Roscoe plays a big part in each story… but he was somewhat Mellow in this installment….
Wolfe, Kat, Brigid and the twins, had arrive to help out, since there were a few attempts on both Scott and Millie’s life

So, this was book 6 in the Deep Ops series and I am not sure if there will be any more books release in this series,

I must say I have grown to love this rag tag team of misfits. Each book in this series just seems to get better and better with each installment. Each story is unique and the characters are just likable and captivating.…. But somehow, I just didn’t feel that way about this Particular installment, the way I had felt for the previous books….. I’m not saying that I didn’t enjoy it I am just saying that I didn’t fall in love with this one

Frostbitten by Rebecca Zanetti
Deep Ops series #6. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone but characters cross between books as a team from the undercover organization.
Millicent Frost is brilliant when it comes to gadgets and electronics - less so with people. She’s in trouble with homeland security because her undercover work was exposed and she’s being threatened by the people she was investigating. When she wakes up next to the body of her ex boyfriend and doesn’t remember how she got to the remote cabin, Millie knows she’s in deep trouble.
Former marine turned lawyer Scott Terentson has worked with the Deep Ops team in the past but getting shot wasn’t on the list of his favorite moments. Exposing Millie’s undercover operation was necessary for his client’s case but he didn’t intend to put her in the crosshairs of both her boss and a crook at the same time. Of course he’s going to help Millie when her fingerprints are on the murder weapon that killed her ex. He totally trusts her innocence but something more is going on in her small home town. Can there really be so many people trying to permanently silence Millie?

Millie’s not having a good week. Yeah, that’s pretty much an understatement.
This story goes from zero to meteorite in a flash. And then turns over on itself. We know she’s been threatened multiple times over, but who had it out for her ex? Or was he just a pawn?
Scott’s going to help as both a lawyer and investigator, plus he’s got the hots for the dynamo. Extra help from the Deep Ops team and scenes with Kat and Roscoe and Angus make the series tighter and connected.
Don’t skip a page or you’ll miss what happens next. I didn’t see this one coming.
Romantic suspense you won’t want to put down.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher.

This is an entertaining, well-written, fast paced, steamy, romantic suspense novel. It has a likable, intelligent female protagonist, an engaging, former marine male protagonist, sizzling chemistry, a unique canine, murder, mystery, intrigue, twists and turns, and a surprise ending. This is the sixth entry in Ms. Zanetti's outstanding Deep Ops series, and it can be enjoyed as a stand alone, but it is even better when read in order. Ms. Zanetti's loyal fans will appreciate the appearance of characters from the previous novels in the series.

Love the Deep Ops Team! As the team adds members, books are added to the series, and it is just wonderful. Scott and Millie are a great couple, and they work well together to get themselves out of the mess they find themselves in. That is my favorite troupe: Couples working together to solve their problems. With a little help from their friends, of course. Sizzling hot romance and epic action make this a can't put it down read.

Scott Terentson is a former Marine who became a top-notch attorney, who took a bullet for Angus. He has recovered physically, but mentally he is a mess. While working he comes upon Millie planting bugs in the office of the opposing spouse in his divorce case. He remembered her from his time with the Deep Ops Team.

Millicent Frost is insanely smart and constantly inventing new gadgets. She was with Deep Ops for a time but had been reassigned by Homeland Defense Department in an effort to break up Angus' team. Now she's in trouble with HDD and Scott is the primary reason. While not really wanting to, she calls Scott to help her out. Millie heads home to help out her family's outfitting and guide business. But trouble follows. Someone is out to get Millie and Scott will do everything he can to protect her.

My thanks to the Publisher and Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

Millicent Frost is in hot water with her boss at the Homeland Defense Department due to some interference from Scott Terentson, an attorney she once worked with on a Deep Ops assignment. Her day just gets worse when she returns to her family home and wakes up in a strange bed covered in blood. Beside her is her ex-boyfriend, Clay Baker...and he's dead. After being arrested for murder, Millie calls Scott, asking for his help. Scott drops everything to go to Millie and help discover who killed Clay, a rival businessman who had a number of people who wanted him dead. An attack on Scott and Millie showed that Clay wasn't the only person someone wants dead.

This is the sixth (and hopefully not last) book in Zanetti's Deep Ops series. Both Millie and Scott have appeared in previous books in the series. They are both likeable characters and they have great chemistry together. The story is fast paced and kept my interest. I had no idea who was behind the murder and was shocked when the identity of the killer was revealed. I certainly didn't see that coming. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

This better not be the last book of the series!!

Scott was so much more than I expected him to be and I loved him for it. He gave me the edgy, dark, and dangerous vibes I needed and looked forward to in this series. Millie was no slouch. A gadget genius, she definitely gave me Q vibes like Scott suggested.

There was almost a pseudo-enemies quality to the beginning of their relationship, more because of Millie's aversion to lawyers, but I was so glad to see all of her assumptions and misconceptions about this man be smashed to dust. And what grew once she gave him a real chance... I enjoyed every moment of it.

I've found something truly special about this Deep Ops team, and no matter what case, what city, or what horrifying trouble finds them, together they make magic happen. I'm a huge fan of found family and these characters have got that in spades.

Millicent Frost, an FBI’s gadget and electronics expert, gets caught up in Former Marine turned lawyer Scott Terentson high profile case. This causes them both trouble from the higher ups when Scott calls Millicent as a witness. The two have a sizzling chemistry, and when Millicent wakes up in bed with her dead ex, Scott steps in as her attorney. The tale that unfolds held me captive, made me grin, and delivered the perfect escape on a cold, dreary night.

The case was interesting, and at first Millicent isn’t eager to call in her buddies on the Deep Ops team who are all on assignment, but as the attempts on her life increase, and the prosecutors eyes her for the murder of her ex, she calls Brigid for some background research.

Roscoe played a big part in the story, as Angus was away and the dog was with Frost & Terentson. I love this high heel, alcohol loving pup. I was so glad to see Wolfe, his cat, the twins, and Brigid arrive. Suspense, twists, and heat made for an addictive read.

Zanetti has really created something with this motley crew of agents who have become a family with one heck of a track record. I hope we get many more books in this series.

Fans of fun, intense, sexy FBI romantic suspense series will want to grab Frostbitten and the Deep Ops series. While each book features one couple and can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend starting from the beginning. Don’t miss the novellas either! I have loved this series so far, and you can read it out of order. While I am certain we meet these leading characters before, I have to admit I don't remember much about them. I was not very happy with them here. While Scott was made up to be this smart guy, he's made some idiot choic, s and Millie is someone we are told she is inventor geni, s and maybe we shoulshowwn it more. I would still recommend you to read it. It is more of a case me, e not the book. I am excited for any new book Rececca writes.

4.5 stars!

The latest in the Deep Ops series, this is a fun and chemistry-filled ‘whodunnit’ romantic suspense with laughs, steam, action and intensity. This is book #6 in the series, and though there is some character crossover, you could read this as a standalone.

Millicent Frost and Scott Terentsen have appeared in previous books of this series, working with the Deep Ops team. She is a Homeland Security agent who is a brilliant inventor on the side, he is an ex-marine now lawyer who took a bullet for one of the team members and is now considered part of the group.

When Millie’s latest investigation clashes with Scott’s latest case, she finds herself in a world of trouble, with Scott himself to blame. He’s determined to make it up to her, and he gets the chance to do just that when her ex-boyfriend is murdered and she is framed for it.

Mille and Scott don’t know each other that well, but they don’t really get along. Until they find themselves shacked up in her family’s cabin in her home town trying to find a killer, locate a missing person and take down a bad guy who has it in for them both.

It's all happening! And in the middle of it all, the attraction between them becomes a sizzling affair which they agree will remain no-strings. Neither of them have the time or interest for an actual relationship, but they are falling hard, and as danger closes in, they’ll be forced to confront their pasts, their present, and figure out what they want from the future.

It’s a fantastic story, and though it takes place away from the Deep Ops headquarters, it’s still very much part of the series, and characters from previous books all make an appearance – some more than other (Wolfe and Kat for the win!).

The romance is steamy, emotional and fabulously functional, all of the characters are wonderfully developed, and the mystery is well done and kept me guessing right up until the big reveal.

This is a fantastic addition to the series, I loved being back in this world, and I can’t wait for more.

4.5 stars!

I read this the first time and listed the second time. I do NOT recommend the audio.
"I love you. I know this might not be the best time to say it, but people keep shooting at us."

Millie Frost (nerdy inspector gadget of the Deep Ops team) is doing a little recon on a corrupt banker dude and she's disguised as an AC repair person. Unfortunately for her, she bumps into super sexy lawyer, Scott Terentson (ex-Marine, attorney for the Deep Ops team) while planting bugs in the office. Scott is representing the wife of the yucky corrupt banker in a divorce case.. Well, trouble happens.... and then Millie gets a call from her brother saying that their aunt is in the hospital and she needs to come home.

Millie goes home, but more insanity happens, and she ends up arrested for murder!!! Yikes. Against her wishes, the sheriff calls Scott for help after finding his business card in her pocket. Of course, Scott races to her rescue. Millie and Scott are facing trouble from all angles, and people keep trying to kill them. But you know our Deep Ops team, they never let a team member hang out on their own. Millie, Scott, and the team work together to find out who is framing her for murder. There are a plethora of people who could have done it. Some obvious, others, not so much. Every time I'd start to suspect who it was, something would happen, and I'd discredit them. You really can't rule anyone out!!! After a lot of drama, we figure out who has been naughty, and then we get a HEA.

Why am I not giving this a 5??? I don't know. It just missed a little something for me and I can't figure out what it is.

SEX: Scott is delicious, and we get some nookie at 38%. Hell yes!! There are at least 2 good shagging scenes and I'm applauding them both.

MYSTERY: I really enjoyed it and thought it was kind of fun! I absolutely LOVE how the entire town supports Millie and come to her defense, much to the displeasure of the sheriff and Scott.

AUDIO: Roger Wayne narrated the rest of the series, but for whatever awful reason, this guy Stephen Borne narrates this book and it's terrible. I definitely recommend reading it.

SIDE CHARACTERS: We meet Millie's brother, JT, who is a real character and good addition. Seems like he has a potential love interest in Lyla, but I have no idea if there will be a book for them or not. The Villan brothers, Ian and Oliver, appear briefly in this one and I sooooo hope they get their own book. Dana is still pregnant and honestly, I feel like she's been pregnant for years now. She got pregnant back in book 3 and we're on book 6!!!! Sheesh. We're also still waiting on Serena's story. I would imagine she'd get a book before any of the other folks.

ROSCOE: He actually grated my nerves. GASP. I know - I'm as shocked as you are. I just feel like I'm over him attacking the argyle pattern and getting drunk and farting. I needed something new. I'd prefer him to rip someone's throat out instead. Mix things up a little.

TEAM: There's a precious moment with Wolfe and Kat and OMG I got a little tear in my eye. I still love Wolfe so much.

I def wish Rebecca Zanetti would cut out the fantasy fics for a while. Focus on these!!! She's got enough of the damn fantasy books already!!!!

PS. Please stop using condoms in your books. This is fiction so they're not needed!!

PSS. This is why I prefer audiobooks. I can finish those in two days. This one took me a week (because I can't always sit down and read).

Story 3.75 stars rounded up. Narration 4.5 stars
This was the sixth book in this series and I’m not sure if there’s going to be more or not. It’s about a group of government agents that don’t exactly fit in with regular FBI agents or others of that ilk. They’ve all had problems in the past-maybe a problem with authority, or doing things on the job that’s not on the up and up-things of that sort. They’ve been relegated to the basement of a government building on the outskirts of Washington D.C. The best part is they are all found family for each other. They spend a lot of time going undercover or not, getting involved in all kinds of different cases. My favorite thing is the German shepherd with an alcohol problem who also loves wearing high heels. His owner is one of the men in the group. And don’t worry, the dog isn’t supposed to have alcohol, but he simply has a nose for it. A true problem child for the group. There’s also an agent that carries a kitten in his pocket. It’s just such a fun series. It should be noted that it’s romantic suspense as they all meet their match and have their own books.

This time it’s about a female agent that works occasionally for the team but has been assigned elsewhere and the male lawyer for the group. This story has murder, court cases, a stay in a small town with the heroines great aunt and all kinds of bad things that happen. And I didn’t figure out the whodunnit part but honestly I don’t think you could without a lot more information that readers aren’t privy to. So there was edge of your chair action many times and a satisfying conclusion. I should add that it’s pretty spicy. Narration was good with a single male narrator that actually did a nice job with female voices. You don’t have to necessarily read them in order, but I would suggest you do so as each book builds on the next as far as the timeline goes. Trigger warning for sexual assault off the page, but told about. Adult read/listen.

Frostbitten is book 6 in the Deep Ops series and while I enjoyed it, I didn't love it as much as I was hoping. Since the last 3 books in this series were great my expectations were really high. So, because of that I found this book lacking in everything including the romance. While Scott and Millicent made a great team their connection as a couple was bland for me. I loved that Wolfe showed up and my heart broke for him when his cat went missing. I think the story may have been better if it was shorter, I felt it dragged. Now, the twist I totally didn't see coming which I really enjoyed. Overall, I didn't love this one, but I do look forward to more books in this series.

Frostbitten is a high octane, fast-paced romantic suspense full of…

–danger
–intrigue
–sexy chemistry
–whodunit(s)
–loveable German Shepherd with a high heel shoe fetish and a drinking problem
–reliable teammates
–secrets
–family
–more secrets

And so much more!

This has got to be my favorite book in the series. Scott and Millie make a great team. I love how independent they are but also how well they work together. Millie has been on the outskirts of the series for a while now and I am so glad she finally gets to shine.

I just loved the story and I can’t wait for the next book!

Frostbitten is Book #6 in Rebecca Zanetti's Deep Ops series where each book is full of suspense, intrigue, strong women, sexy alpha males, and a crazy fun German Shepherd that defies the laws of physics. Frostbitten can easily be read as a standalone but if you get the chance, I highly recommend the entire series!

I have been waiting for Millie and Scott to have their own book when they were each introduced in previous books.
To my surprise and delight, Rebecca paired them up for a wild ride before getting that HEA!!

Millie is the gadget girl extraordinaire and Scott fell pretty quickly and comes in to save the day after she's accused of murdering her ex.

There's a ton of action in this book and a surprise ending you will never guess!

Can't wait for the audio so I can listen to this book all over again..
I just love this series and the band of misfits who are the perfect found family.
Wolf is ADORABLE with Millie who he basically adopted as a little sister even though she has an older brother, JT.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for him to get a book and of course for the twins to get a book!

I've given this a C+ for narration and a C for content at AudioGals.

I’ve enjoyed listening to the five previous books in Rebecca Zanetti’s Deep Ops series of romantic suspense novels, so when I saw there was a sixth book on the way, I made a note to look for the audio. I was pleased to see there was going to be one, although sad to see that Roger Wayne wouldn’t be narrating it. He did such a great job in the other books and I knew he’d be a tough act to follow; his replacement, Stephen Borne, isn’t someone I’ve listened to before, but I’ve seen his name around quite a lot and Audible shows he has well over a hundred titles to his credit, mostly in romance and romantic suspense, so I thought I’d be in a safe pair of hands as far as the narration was concerned.

In my review of the previous book,  Unforgiven , I made a comment as an aside that “I certainly wouldn’t mind more of Scott the hot lawyer” – and lo and behold, here he is! A former marine, Scott Terentsen now deals with bad guys through the courts, and in the previous book, he was shot when helping out the Deep Ops team on one of their operations. While he’s recovered physically, he’s still a bit of a mess on the inside and has been on autopilot ever since; his work keeps his mind agile, but he’s lost interest in it and just goes through the motions.

Millicent Frost has appeared in some of the previous books as a secondary character who has sometimes worked with the Deep Ops team. Her speciality is gadgetry – she’s often referred to as their version of James Bond’s “Q” – and when we meet her again here, she’s working undercover as an air conditioning engineer, planting surveillance equipment in the office of high-powered investment banker Werner Dearth. The same investment banker with whom Scott has an appointment. Millie is the last person he expects to see there, but he doesn’t blow her cover; after his meeting with the deeply unpleasant Dearth, he waits for Millie outside and then insists on driving her home while questioning her about what she was doing in that particular office. She can’t tell him anything – and unfortunately, their association creates a serious problem for the HDD a couple of months down the line when, during his divorce hearing, Dearth alleges that Millie and Scott were conspiring against him, which exposes the HDD’s investigation into his activities.

Millie is already on shaky ground with the HDD, and this could get her fired. But before she can worry about that too much, she gets a call from her brother, JT, telling her that their Aunt Mae – who brought them up – has had a heart attack. All Millie wants to do is get home to River City to be with Mae – but before she can make her way out of the courthouse, Dearth grabs her and threatens her: “I take out my enemies and you just became one. You won’t see me coming.”

The next time we see her, Millie is waking up in a room not her own, her head pounding, her mind groggy and her body naked. She looks down at herself to see blood on her chest – and then notices the man in her bed, an ex she hasn’t seen for years, together with a fishing knife of her own making, both of them covered in blood. The man is definitely dead and Millie has no idea of what is going on. She doesn’t remember coming home with him or getting into bed with him – she doesn’t remember anything of the previous day after she left Mae’s bedside at the hospital. The only thing she IS certain of is that she didn’t kill anyone.

Scott is surprised when he gets a call from the chief of police in Shalebrook County and even moreso when he learns that Millie is suspected of murder. Scott – accompanied by Roscoe (he’s dog sitting for Angus and Nari while they’re away in Europe) – drops everything and makes his way to the small town of River City to do whatever he can to help Millie to clear her name.

Frostbitten  gets off to a great start, quickly bringing Scott and Millie back into each other’s orbits and setting up the mystery, but the story is nothing we haven’t seen/heard/read before, and the author doesn’t do anything to freshen up a very tired trope. Millie’s being this crazy-smart inventor-type is woefully underused – we never see her inventing anything new or having to cobble something together on the fly to get them out of a tricky situation, and honestly, she’s kinda dull. And for a supposedly intelligent guy, Scott does some really dumb stuff. Right at the beginning when he corners Millie outside the investment bank, he insists she gets into his car or he’ll make a scene. Seriously? A grown man and tough lawyer and he’ll make a scene if she doesn’t do as he says? And he never thought they might be caught on camera before they get inside? (Which is exactly what happens and tanks the HDD’s case.)

The story is overlong and overly busy, and the chemistry between Scott and Millie is barely lukewarm, so the romance falls completely flat. There’s no growth for either character (Scott still has largely untreated PTSD by the end) and apart from a late-book appearance from Wolfe, the Deep Ops team is largely absent which, as their camaraderie and interactions are some of the things that made the previous books so entertaining, left a really big hole. And the ending… no spoilers, but it made no sense.

Sadly, I can’t say that the narration helped make listening to Frostbitten less of a chore. Stephen Borne has a naturally deep voice with an attractive huskiness to it that is a good fit for the romantic suspense genre, but there’s a kind of monotonous quality to his performance that often had me zoning out and having to rewind. I checked to see if any of the Gals have reviewed him before – and while I agree with Kaetrin’s observation about his ability to differentiate well between male and female characters, the problem is that there’s a fairly large secondary cast here, and almost all the men sound the same, as do almost all the women. And he reads Scott’s dialogue in his ‘narrator voice’ so that it’s sometimes hard to tell if Scott is speaking or if Mr. Borne is reading a narrative passage. I doubt I’ll be rushing to listen to him again.

If this is the final book in the Deep Ops series, I’m afraid that Frostbitten ends it with a whimper rather than a bang, and I’m going to pretend the series ended with book five.

With this sixth installment, Zanetti continues to veer off a little from the actual Deep Ops team by focusing on two people, Millie Frost and Scott Terentson, who aren’t actual Deep Ops members but have worked with the Deep Ops team before. Zanetti did this in the last installment too. It’s all good because eventually some of the Deep Ops team members make their appearances.

The book summary basically just lays out the various storylines with one of them being Millie’s Homeland Defense Dept (HDD) case of theft and fraud overlaps with Scott’s divorce case both of which Millie and Scott bomb. There is another storyline of Millie being charged with killing her ex, Clay, after she was found in his blood-soaked bed with her personal knife in him. Then there is the storyline of someone, including a hit team, being trying to kill Millie or Scott or maybe both of them. It’s suspected that it’s maybe a man named, Dearth, who is the husband in Scott’s divorce case, Scott represents the wife, who soon goes missing under suspicious circumstances; Dearth is also the one that HDD is investigating for fraud and theft. However, it may also be the brothers of Millie’s ex, Clay, who have threatened to kill Millie for killing their brother.

Most of the story revolves around Millie and Scott investigating Clay’s murder in an effort to clear Millie. It's at around the halfway point that Millie finally contacts Bridget from the Deep Ops team for some help; Bridget is the team super hacker and can collect pretty much any info she goes after. By this point, I had my suspicions on who the killer was as well as who sent the hit team. Well into the second half, a wild and crazy twist is dropped that I never saw coming! The Deep Ops team shows up to help save Millie and Scott.

I’m really enjoying this series, which is a combination of crime thriller, murder mystery (not cozy at all) and romantic suspense. Zanetti is a great writer and storyteller and I continue to be a die-hard Zanetti fangirl. I want to thank NetGalley and Kensington Books for sending me this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I always love a good Rebecca Zanetti book, but this one was sort of "mid" for me. I was a little surprised, actually, since I adored books 4 and 5 (didn't read the first three books). It could be that it's been a year and a half or so since book 5, and I didn't fully remember the characters, but honestly, I think it was a little more than that. I liked both protagonists, but I felt like they were a little overpromised, especially Millie.

I really love that Millie is a genius inventor, but the dozens of inventions she has strewn about (especially in her house and her aunt's) are almost silly and seem more magical than functional, if that makes sense. Like they weren't believable enough for me to buy into her talent. And they're all already invented; that is, we don't see her jury-rigging anything on the fly during the course of this book. That was disappointing.

Scott is a good hero who is truly enchanted by Millie, and the third-person POV (alternating between Millie and Scott) allows us to see the truth of his feelings. It's lovely. His dom tendencies during sexy times, however, are a little off putting. Enough with the spanking, ew. Don't get me wrong; there is a lot more going on (and the intimate scenes are some of the better I've read with the exception of the spanking). I just needed less of the yick factor.

The suspense isn't that exciting, though there are enough red herrings to at least make you unsure of the real villain's identity. The way some people behaved, though, is a little weird. Why didn't Millie freak out more when she woke up next to her dead ex? Why weren't the brothers a little more grief stricken? (To be fair, they eventually do emote, but it seems a bit late). And a few other things that I'll skip here to avoid spoilers.

It a fun enough read, and I'm not sorry I read it. I just wish it had blown me away like the previous two books in the series.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

I have loved this Deep Ops series, and this book is now my second-favorite, running a very close second behind Wolfe and Dana's story. I must admit that this surprised me because I like lawyers about as much as Millie does, so I didn't expect to be wowed by this one. But wowed I was. I was pretty agitated at what Scott pulls at the beginning of the book, but it turned out to be necessary and for the best in terms of the story. I won't spoil anything, but Scott's lawyer tactics end up throwing him and Millie together to solve the mystery. We get to meet a new group of characters from Millie's hometown, and of course Roscoe is along for the ride because Scott happens to be dogsitting. We also get some Wolfe and Kitten time later in the book, along with many other Deep Ops members. I'm now hoping for a spinoff book featuring JT!

I got the ARC off this book from netgalley.l love this series and this book was no different. The mystery did keep you guessing at least till halfway through the book .
All the secondary characters were interesting and well developed, which we had seen more of Aunt Mae .
I did feel the sex scenes were a little weird .

Loved it from start to finish. Suspense, action, and surprises. Millie didn't want to bother the team, but the team, including Scott who insisted he was not part of the team, wouldn't let Millie fight her battle alone. Great addition to the series.

In Rebecca Zanetti’s Frostbitten, Deep Ops #6, Millicent Frost and Scott Terentson join forces after she’s targeted by lethal enemies determined to kill her.

Zanetti’s dynamic writing and storytelling, vibrant with detailed description and rich worldbuilding, captured my imagination and drew me into the novel from the opening scene. She skillfully develops fascinating, complex, fallible, and relatable characters that you can’t help but love and root for their success. Zanetti outdoes herself with the mystery, suspense, action, steam, romance, and intensity in this one.

Millie’s taken off her temporary assignment with the Deep Op’s team to help bust a bank scam. Unfortunately, the bust goes awry. Her career—and life—potentially in jeopardy, Millie returns to her hometown to help out with her family’s hunting and fishing business run by her aunt. Things take an even worse turn when Millie’s ex and family business rival is murdered, and she’s the number one suspect.

Scott and Millie are complete opposites that have always given each other a lot of space. But Millie asks Scott for his help. Though it’s probably more trouble than Scott needs right now, there’s no way he won’t help Millie—despite a staggering caseload and having just had a case go south on him—especially since she asked for his help. As Millie and Scott work together to solve the murder, the stakes become higher as the danger intensifies with repeated attempts on their lives. But being in close quarters under these circumstances makes it difficult for them to deny the scorching hot chemistry they share and their desire and connection that strengthens every moment.

Zanetti develops and evolves Scott and Millie’s relationship through funny, emotional, sexy, steamy, intimate, and charged interactions and love scenes that reveal their characters and further the story. I love Millie and Scott and their relationship. What’s between them is electric and inevitable. They fit together effortlessly in ways that neither understands nor is prepared to acknowledge and balance one another’s personalities. I love their snarky banter and attempts to avoid giving in to their attraction and fiery chemistry.

Brilliant, with a wildly gifted mind for solving mysteries, deciphering puzzles, and inventing and working with gadgets and electronics, Millie is a woman of science with a passion for design and machinery. But unfortunately, Millie is not as capable or comfortable with people as she is with gadgets and electronics. So, Millie tries to keep them away. Although she’s petite, Millie can handle herself in the field. Because of childhood trauma, Millie doesn’t like lawyers, which makes her feelings for Scott complicated. She finds him irresistible but resists giving in to her desire for him.

An intense, intelligent, dominant, primal loner, Scott uses his legal skills to help his clients when they are in trouble or caught in tricky binds. He’s still healing from the last bullet taken protecting one of the Deep Ops members, who have taken him into their family of misfits, even though the last thing the former Marine wants is to be on another team. Haunted by his past, Scott doesn’t think he’s good enough for Millie. But he’s been intrigued by the enigmatic Millie and drawn to her from their first meeting.

Multilayered, suspenseful, thrilling, and action-packed, Frostbitten creates visual images in your mind like a romantic suspense movie and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The novel has a terrific balance between steamy romance, action, and suspense, and the fight scenes are fantastic. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop until I was done—ready for her next book. Sexy, action-packed, suspenseful, steamy, and funny, Frostbitten is an enthralling, fast-paced novel highly recommended for mystery/thriller, action, and steamy romantic suspense fans.

I adore this series! Though this book didn't hit quite as hard for me as some of the others, I still really enjoyed it.

Millicent Frost is brilliant with gadgets. She's like the Deep Ops team's own Q from the James Bond movies! But, she also grew up in her family business, an outdoor charter tour company. She's great at so many awesome things. When her Great Aunt, who raised her, is in trouble, she heads home to help. But even more trouble follows Millie to town, and soon she needs the help of her least favorite thing or person in the world: a lawyer.

Scott Terentson is a former Marine, and a GREAT lawyer. He's gotten the Deep Ops team out of a scrape a time or two, and they got him *into* one, in a prior book, that he almost didn't survive. He's always been intrigued by Millie, but he knows he's a hot mess, and a workaholic, and he's not trying to change that any time soon. But, when his case gets Millie into hot water at work, and she finds herself in even hotter water back in West Virginia, he knows he's the man to help her out.

Millie and Scott sizzled on the page together, and their banter was top notch. They both had some unresolved trauma from their distant, and more recent, pasts that caused them issues. Neither felt they were fit for a relationship, or thought they even wanted one, until all they could think about was each other. I enjoyed watching them fighting their feelings, to no avail.

The suspense plot was exciting and kept me guessing, though the villain was truly unhinged and I never would've guessed who it was. The Deep Ops team is always a delight, and Wolfe and Roscoe are my favorite. They both made strong appearances in this story, and I was so happy anytime either of them was on page.

I'm always looking forward to any stories in this world, and I can't wait to see who the next one will be about!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my personal opinion, voluntarily given.

Another AMAZING addition to a series that is one of my top favorites, ever!

I absolutely love this author’s heroes, but she also does heroines that are impossible to forget and Millie is definitely going to be one of those. She is inventive and quirky and her unique abilities had me wishing she were real and in my life. I loved absolutely everything about her. Once the story line kicks in and we learn what has happened with her, it was like a fist to the gut.

Scott was perfect for Millie. He was sweet and kind, and not a pushy alpha male that would trample all over her. That’s not to say he wasn’t protective, because he is that and so much more. I loved the organic way their relationship developed and his progression into falling for her.

This story line was a bit darker than expected but not so dark as to turn me away. I actually found this to be impossible to put down. The earlier cast of the series makes an appearance and I have to say that Wolf and Cat once more stole every scene they were in. I will never get tired of him and his own quirky ways. He’s a great big, scary marshmallow. When you add that with Roscoe's crazy behaviors, the tone of the story is leveled and absolutely perfect.

Well the latest in this series sees characters away from the office and it was fun reading about Millie the inventor and the people she’s grown up around. Millie doesn’t like lawyers so it’s pretty annoying when not only does Scott compromise her operation but runs to her rescue when she finds herself in a bewildering and very scary situation ! Yes she needs a lawyer but did it have to be him ?
This series is fun to read with hot, Alpha men , intelligent, gutsy females and a dog who seriously needs a therapist ! This time there’s a whodunnit theme which is lightened by numerous folk determined to give Millie an alibi whether she needs one or not ! The romance had a nice pace and I loved that Wolfe showed up and the author tugged on the readers heartstrings with his new vulnerabilities. As I mentioned it’s vital to find out who the murderer is and the author does a fabulous job of muddying the waters to keep readers on their toes.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

love this series!!

I absolutely love this series of seemingly awkward misfits who fit so well together and can solve a crime unconventionally.

Millie and Scott have undeniable chemistry. He’s got past traumas and shes quirky and doesn’t like lawyers. Thrown together by accident working two different cases against the same man, her cover and case are blown. She goes to her childhood home to lick her wounds and finds herself in a compromising position and the prime suspect in a murder.

Lots of twists and turns, gunfights and explosions. Throw in some passion and 🔥🔥🔥🔥. You’ve got a wild ride to the conclusion of the murder case. And crazy doesn’t even sum it up! Love the team Angus Force has compiled and how they stand up for each other.

Can’t wait for the next book!! And maybe a wedding?

I love the found family in this series. It had been a while since I read the 5th book and took a bit for me to remember all of the characters and their nuances. Once I got a few chapters in, I loved being back in this world with the Deep Ops team. Millie is having a rough go. She is in trouble at work, her aunt had a heart attack and then she wakes up in bed with a dead man and no memory of how she got there. Scott is the lawyer who gets the call when she ends up in jail and is the one person who will help keep her safe.

This is a page turning suspenseful romance that kept me guessing all the way until the end. I read a ton of romance and these good suspense stories are such a great break. I will be here for whatever Zanetti gives us next.

I like the stories in this series, but I had grown fond of Millie and honestly expected a little more from her book, and Scott had never interested me that much. Other than that, the story holds more than one surprise twist so the murder mystery is not bad at all.

I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

Action and romance

Millie and Scott. Great story and perfect addition to the series. The crime was shocking and the follow-up crimes surprising. The blend of private and government workers, roles of family and friends and of course animals made for a fun and fast paced story. Wolfe is always a favorite and his scene with Kat and then with JT to show family just makes you love him even more. Millie’s family is a hoot and I loved the town dynamic. I was not really surprised by the final criminal, but the way it was revealed was entertaining. Scott’s mom is a good addition and I hope we see more of the two Villain twins and of JT!

ARC kindly provided through NetGalley though all thoughts are my own.

I admittedly don't read romantic suspense much but I want to! I guess where I fall short is I expect there to be tons of action and most of this book feels like a crime drama/murder mystery. The spice was spicin' though and I love the gadgetress heroine and the hunky lawyer relationship. This book ultimately wrapped up too quickly compared to the rest of the book at the end though for me. and what is with all the pets? I thought the dog going nuts for alcohol might be the comic relief but it just made me feel kind of sorry for it? I dunno, I did like the writing though so I'll try more from Rebecca for sure.

This wasn't one of the better books in the series which is a shame because I was excited for Millie and Scott's story. The writing seemed unevenly paced with some character inconsistencies (like it was written in a hurry).

I was happy to see some of the characters from other books (especially Wolfe) but all in all this was a disappointment
