The reader walks away with a GPS to trust in life.
Arno aims to give you a glimpse into the true power of the human mind, body, and spirit by sharing his most impactful experiences in the world of chiropractic. His life is an example of someone who learned to let life flow, and trust in what was to come.
Chiropractic care goes well beyond adjusting joints. It is about nourishing your light rather than dulling the darkness. It is about observing the human as a body, mind, and soul — as a total functioning organism that has many microsystems and is a part of a larger macrosystem. Some stories and claims seem quite far fetched, and Arno is completely aware of that but decides to share, because they are true.
This is not a book that has guidelines for what to eat or not, when to exercise and rest, or for what to avoid and what to love. It is a book to change your perspective on how you feel about and approach health — for how to approach life as a living human being with needs.
Five stars for the recalibration in thinking about health and healing, but I knocked a star off for repetition and a tendency for wordiness. What I did like I liked very much. Dr. Burnier, a well known chiropractor, talks much about the profession, and thus may be of most interest to chiropractors, those receiving chiropractic treatment and those involved in non-allelopathic healing modalities. He thoroughly lays out his belief in trusting and surrendering to the body's wisdom, using various energy/wholistic healing practices, wholistic wellness of body/mind/emotions/spirit and avoiding the medical/pharmaceutical industry as much as possible, especially treatments that suppress symptoms rather than heal dis-ease. Dr. Burnier's discussion of the spine in Chapter 6 was fascinating. He lays out the vertebrae's correspondence to our physical bodies, our spiritual journey as humans and our wounds in this lifetime. His emphasis on the correct alignment of the spine as being critical to the health of the body and spirit through its connection to the nervous system makes sense to me. Though I found this book to be very enlightening and an inspiring example of a human who lived his philosophy of trust and surrender to the body and the universe in which we live.
I had the good fortune to hear Arno speak on several occasions. In this book, I learned even more about his life, but more importantly about the vitalistic philosophy of health. Life-changing stuff!
This is such a compellingly read! Foundation is love and the body can heal itself as well as how important our spine and nervous system is for functionality of our body.
