I don't even know what to say about this story.

The idea of it was what drew me in, but the writing didn't hold me. Le Sigh. Kinda sad, actually.

I was really hoping for some great romance story between these two people who have been best friends since they were kids, but all I got
was an annoying heroine who was back and forth too much over her
feelings for her best guy friend in the whole entire world.

I get that she was in an abusive relationship a couple years ago that really shook her, but she kept saying that her therapist had helped her get over that period during her two year worth of visits.

I'm sympathetic. I really am. But she didn't even make the effort to have those love inspired FEELINGS for Sam.

I had to speed read through a couple of scenes; it wasn't all that captivating.

Lily, that's her name, was the one who propositioned Sam and yet she kept backing away when he tried to keep up his end of the bargain.
Ahh. I can't even.

And Sam, that's his name, was so devastatingly in love with her that
even though she time and time again called what they were doing - a two week, purely physical, fling - nothing, still couldn't stop doing her bidding at the end of the day and basically pining over her. SIGH SIGH SIGH. *Shakes head*

Overall, the best thing about this book was the really great love scenes.

From page 2, you are confronted with what is assumably some great physical attraction between these two characters. Unfortunately, it was so fast that I didn’t even have time to learn anything about the characters except that they are sex crazed. Okay, they really aren’t but when that’s the first thing you are given, it’s what stays with you through the entire thing. I think perhaps a more constructed opening would be helpful here: it’s one thing to just jump into the middle of a scene in a suspense novel but this is a whole different genre.
The dialogue is stilted and antiquated as well. Knowing nothing about the characters other than their desires, I had hoped to gain insight with their manner of talking. Instead, I found them clichéd and cookie cutter.

This book made me really sad. It was the first Carina Press title that I haven’t found enjoyment in. It definitely seems more like an 80’s Harlequin throwaway than what I’ve come to expect from Carina. Of course, if that’s what you like to read then you’ll love it.

Something So Right was a cute, enjoyable, short read. And that about sums it up. It's a fast-paced romance, with a decent amount of steaminess and sexual tension. It's one of those books that is fun to read on a long, cold evening, when you're sitting in your comfy chair, wrapped up in a blanket with a hot cup of chocolate in your hand. It makes a great experience. It's nice. Not exactly a mind-blowing piece of literature, but a decent short novel with a solid plot, likable characters and love that is both sweet and hot at the same time.

Sam Denning and Lily Carver are long time best friends. Sam was always around to help whenever Lily needed him. They are both undeniably attracted to each other yet neither of them is willing to take the first step and actually turn their friendship into something even more meaningful. They both want it. Deep inside they know they are perfect for each other. They fantasize about each other (and trust me when I say, these fantasies will make your cheeks burn!), have fun together and support each other in times of need. What's sweeter than a romance that develops from an already wonderful and strong friendship? If only things were that simple! Lily was recently hurt, she carries a lot of baggage and she's can't seem to be able to put the past behind her. She's damaged and unwilling to throw herself into yet another potentially hurtful relationship. There are no obvious reasons to believe that Sam would treat her with anything else than love and respect, but we all know how it works: once bitten, twice shy. Not to mention that it never even crossed her mind that Sam could possibly be interested in her or return her feelings in any way. Unfortunately, the same goes for Sam. He doesn't want to make a move, because what is she doesn't like him back? He could lose his best friend and he certainly doesn't want that! And so we're stuck in a loop, with two people who love each other and don't really know what to with that. What will happen to these two? Curious? Read Something So Right and find out for yourself. It's definitely worth it. There's a lot going on on these 160 pages, more than you could imagine!

What I liked the best about this story? Sam. He was so fan-freaking-tastic! So sensitive, caring, supportive, loving, warm, cheerful.. Not to mention totally gorgeous! A perfect man in every way! Where do you get a guy like that?! Lily, on the other hand, well, she went through a lot and didn't quite know how to deal with all that. She wasn't exactly my favorite heroine. I didn't like the way she acted and some of her decisions were simply hard for me to understand, but in the end I kind of got where it was coming from. I wished she was a little bit more open and trusting and wouldn't be so consistent in pushing Sam away or determined not to assign meaning to whatever was happening between the two of them. I mean, yeah, I get that you went through some heavy crap and you're having trouble getting over it, but cut the guy some slack. He's not just any random guy met on the street, he's your best friend. Someone who was always there for you! And he's so freaking hot! :)

But these are just minor annoyances, nothing that would make me want to throw the book out the window or shred it to pieces with gardening scissors. I genuinely liked Something So Right. It was a charming, sweet little read. It's not the most beautiful love story ever, nor is it some sort of life-changing, heart-wrenching epic romance, but it doesn't aspire to be one at all. It's a simple, cute love story, filled with some cheek-reddening scenes and vivid, realistic descriptions. The plot is solid, the characters are believable, the storytelling is smooth - I don't know about you guys, but in my world that makes a pretty awesome book!
I'm excited to read more of Elyse Mady's books and I'm definitely going to be picking one up soon!

Something So Right is the story of best friends whose relationship develops into a romance. I thought the hero, Sam Denning, was a wonderful character. He was loving and very protective of the heroine, Lily Carver. Lily was much harder to like. She carried a lot of baggage and had been seriously damaged by her last relationship, but even with that background, her continued resistance to a romantic relationship with Sam seemed too much. I didn't feel that she cared for him nearly as much as he did for her. I enjoyed the friends to lovers storyline and just wish that Lily had seemed a bit more sensitive toward Sam and his feelings. Overall, I enjoyed this book, and look forward to more by the author.

Sam Denning and Lily Carver have been best friends since they were young teenagers. Sam has been secretly in love with Lily almost the entire time he's known her, but he doesn't believe that she could ever reciprocate his feelings. One night their attraction to one another becomes clear, and Lily turns away from Sam as if horrified. Even so, he hopes that once the shock wears off, she will want a relationship with him as much as he does with her. Instead, Lily decides that she will have sex with Sam for a couple of weeks and then go back to friendship only. They have a difficult time as they try to adapt to he changes in their relationship, and it doesn't seem that they want the same outcome. They have to find out if they will even come through as friends.

This was a cute story, with the theme of friends turning into lovers. Sam was a great, sensitive hero, but Lily seemed self centered and callous to his feelings. I would have enjoyed the story more if her edges would have been softened a bit. I received this ARC through Netgalley.

Something So Right takes one of my favorite tropes (friend/love from afar) and twists it on its ear. Usually girl in love with the boy, who happily lives his life with other women, it’s Sam who is in love with Lily, and scared to confess his feelings to such a commitment-shy woman. Mady does a great job establishing the backstory – their separate histories, and their friendship – and I think this laid a solid foundation to the present problems – his confession, and her fear of being hurt (and of hurting him). Not only is this a great plot, but the romantic scenes have some steamy sexual chemistry between the two. While a little shorter than I wished it was (I didn’t want to leave the characters!), this is definitely a lovely contemporary worth reading.

Something So Right is a novel that is centered around one of my all time favorite tropes in the romance genre. The stories of best friends turning into lovers, the conflict, the sexual tension and their journey towards happily ever after is a theme I would never tire of. That is one reason why I requested for a galley of this title from Netgalley and though I didn’t like some aspects of the story that unfolded, I would still consider this to be an okay read.

30 year old Sam Denning is the hero from the wrong side of town, who grew up with a single mother who barely made ends meet whilst juggling three jobs to provide something better for Sam and his two younger sisters. Now the successful owner of a general contracting business that he builds from ground up, Sam still carries on his shoulder the remnants of his past that makes him feel he is still the little boy from the poor side of town that would never measure up. Though Sam has loved Lily ever since he turned up on her doorstep looking for gardening odd jobs 15 years back, Sam continues to hide his feelings from Lily which becomes harder by the day.

Lillian Carver (Lily) is the owner and operator of the Three Pines Lodge and Resort, an exclusive and wildly successful holiday camp on the shores of Lake Mississing, one of Muskoka’s most sought after holiday destinations. Lily returns home after leaving behind her abusive ex-fiance who does a huge number on her self-esteem and worth as a woman. Shying away from any sort of relationship with the opposite sex is how Lily copes with the trauma of her one serious relationship from the past. And though Lily at times wonders why she and Sam has never gone down the road of finding out whether there could be more to their relationship than just friendship, she stifles those urges as Sam has permanent stamped over his forehead for everyone to see.

When Sam finally takes the chance and plunges their relationship into churning waters filled with uncertainty, it is Lily who comes up with the plan that she and Sam enter into a purely sexual affair and go their separate ways when their two weeks is up. But from the start, Sam’s vulnerability when it comes to Lily pierces through his hard won control and forces Lily to confront the fact that with Sam nothing could ever be casual and that she too is not invulnerable enough to walk away unscathed once their affair runs its course.

Something So Right brings to light the fact that Elyse Mady is an author who definitely has potential in delivering a romance. She writes the sexual tension aspect of the story so well and certainly knows a thing or two when it comes to delivering on that scorching heat generated by her hero and heroine. And she definitely knows her way around a hero who would appeal to the female reading population and in Sam she has seemed to create an all around sexy, charming and endearing hero that makes for a wonderful hero.

My disappointment of the story stems from the heroine Lily whose actions throughout the novel I had a very hard time understanding and relating to. She comes off as selfish and too childish at times, never really understanding the depth of goodness in Sam her best friend for the past fifteeen years. I can totally get on board with the aspects of emotional scars left behind after an abusive relationship, but projecting her ex-fiance’s failures on Sam just rubbed me the wrong way. In the end, I just couldn’t stomach her hot and cold attitude towards their changing relationship and I felt that Lily is a heroine who definitely doesn’t deserve a wonderful man like Sam.

Towards the end I found myself going back and forth between conflicting vibes from the story. There were moments when Lily’s self pity lets her talk about living up to her family’s name, but nowhere in the story did I encounter any reason for her to feel that way about her family.

Though there were many disappointing aspects to the story, I would still give Elyse Mady a go because the tone she sets in her story is one worth delving into. A better heroine who can stand up for the man who has always stood by her side would go a long way into making this one more appealing and I hope Elyse does write a story for Lily’s older sister who seems like she has a story worth telling.

Momentous Scenes

- The first scorching kiss that Sam and Lily shares. All the ingredients that make up for an out of this world kiss right there!

- The way Sam comforts the broken Lily when she first leaves her good for nothing ex-fiance behind. Totally sweet and made me fall for Sam’s character like a ton of bricks.

My quotes included below the review.

Sam Denning and Lily Carver have been best friends since the summer they met in the small resort town of Muskoka. For Sam, though, it’s much more than a friendship. He’s been in love with Lily for a while and just can’t bring himself to make a move. The timing has never been right. Lily had been engaged until that fateful day she arrived home unexpectedly and found her fiancé in bed with someone else. When Sam found out what Lily was going through he went to her immediately and brought her to his home to help her through one of the hardest times in her life. That was when Lily and her sister decided to buy and run the Three Pines Lodge and Resort. But even with Lily close at hand, Sam has not told her how he really feels.

Lily, too, has feelings for Sam. She knows he’s a good, honest, loving man, but she has baggage in her past that Sam knows nothing about and it’s holding her back from allowing her to let Sam or any man in her life again. She’s not willing to risk herself or her heart.

But one night, after a few drinks, Sam and Lily have a very hot encounter. Sam is thinking it’s the beginning of something special with Lily, but Lily shuts Sam down, hard. She thinks it was a mistake. Sam is hurt and he’s at a complete loss as to why Lily reacted the way she did. So when Lily comes to see him the next day and proposes a no strings affair, he is completely at a loss. But his feelings for Lily are too strong and he’s willing to play her game and see where it takes them.

Something So Right has the very familiar friends to lovers theme. Sam and Lily met when they were 14 and 12 respectively. Their early relationship is told in a few flashback sequences that I found very moving and brought tears to my eyes, twice. It made their long term friendship believable even though they’d only really spent summers together until Lily moves to Muskoka after the incident with her fiancé. When Lily finally confides the truth about what really happened with her X-fiancé to Sam, he is devastated that she’d never told him, but for me it was that instance that showed the relationship start to change for both of them. Unfortunately, the whole ‘friends with benefits’ that Lily proposes to Sam didn’t really sit well with me. I understand where the author was going, but by this point in the story we have a very clear picture of Sam and we know how much he loves Lily. I couldn’t see him settling for Lily’s ‘no strings attached’ sex proposal, not when we know how much they really love each other. Additionally, no matter how hard Lily fights it, she can’t keep her heart in a box and when she realizes where this relationship could go, she puts up all her walls and once again closes Sam off. There is a nice little twist at the end to bring the H/H together. All in all, an enjoyable read, with likable characters.

Full review reposted from my Smitten with Reading blog...

My Review:

Overall, I enjoyed this book. This is absolutely my favorite trope- friends to lovers, but I had some issues with understanding the characters and their reactions especially at the end of the book. Up until the last 15-20% of the book, I probably would have rated this one more along the lines of a "B".

Angst....there is a TON of it in this book. Lily was in a 2 year relationship 5 years ago that left her really emotionally scarred. That relationship was abusive and domineering and Lily doesn't trust herself anymore. She is afraid that if she ever gives herself to someone emotionally like that again that she won't be strong enough to stay her own person.

Sam has his own scars. He was raised on the wrong side of the tracks by a single mother who never had enough to get by. Growing up, he worked at several jobs, but was continually put down for his place in society. Now he has his own very successful contracting company, but those feelings about worth still linger at times.

Sam & Lily have been best friends since they were 14. He has been in love with her pretty much that entire time, but has never acted upon it. She's drawn to him too, but he's a forever kind of guy and she never plans to commit to forever with ANY guy.

My issues with this book:
*Sam & Lilly are best friends...they have always done everything together. She was in the relationship with Brent for 2 years, and Sam never saw or even guessed what was happening? In the book, Sam is presented as totally in touch with her and her feelings, so I just can't buy that he didn't see that she was being both mentally and physically abused.

*Lilly is all over the place. She's in. She's out. She wants him. She loves him. She doesn't want a relationship. She doesn't want sex. Honestly, I am not so sure that 2 years in therapy have been enough...

*Sam doesn't fight for her. When she tells him no, he flings insults or simply walks away. I realize that he's frustrated, but if he truly loves her, he would fight for her.

*I didn't understand or see what changed at the very end to suddenly make everything okay. There was nothing earth-shattering that happened to change the situation that hadn't already been said just a few days before. The resolution just didn't work for me.

There were times when this book was just gorgeous. It's sexy and starts out with all the right things. The descriptive language and writing was amazing. Elyse did a fantastic job in this area, but somewhere along the way, the book simply lost its way and I was as frustrated as Sam. I still plan to continue to read Elyse's work because she has an amazing sense of prose. This one just didn't quite do it for me...

How I got this book: NetGalley

I think my favorite plot of all time is friends to lovers, and this one was a goodie! Sam and Lily have been best friends since they were fourteen, but Sam has been in love with her for just as long. When they take things to a physical level, they are both surprised at how hot the fire burns between them. But Lily doesn’t want forever and she knows that Sam does.

When Sam pushes for more and Lily finally reveals a big secret she has been keeping from him, things get more than complicated. They want to remain friends, but will their friendship be enough when Sam wants more, or will they both walk away broken hearted?

One of the things I love the most about friends to lovers books is that the sexual tension between the hero and heroine is constant from day one. They are already friends, they know everything about one another, they don’t have any (or many) secrets from one another. To me, that puts them on the fast track to being great relationship partners. Mady does a wonderful job with the sexual tension. it’s palpable and smokin’.

I loved Sam’s character. He was everything I would want in a hero, my best friend, supportive of me, there for me at my worst moment, and totally head over heals in love. What more could a girl want? There was one thing that I wanted more from Sam though, and that was to fight harder for Lily. I understand how scary it can be to take a friendship to the next level, but every time Lily went to push Sam away, he went willingly. He didn’t stay and fight, he didn’t tell her how wrong she was, he just went.

I had a little bit of a harder time connecting with Lily. I absolutely felt heartbroken for her and the ordeal she went through with her ex-fiance. I can see how broken she would be, but at the same time I don’t think she gave Sam or herself the chance. She was all over the place, so wishy-washy, I wanted her to make a decision and stick with it.

I really enjoyed this book, but there was one thing that made me cringe. When you are such great friends, typically the lines of communication are a lot more open. But with Sam and Lily, it was almost like they were afraid to talk once they started the “benefits” part of their relationship. I wanted to smack them, make them talk to each other!

All in all I really enjoyed this book. Mady does a wonderful job writing sexual tension between friends that was fun to read, and the romance between them was beautiful as well. I loved the hero and although I would have liked to see a little more from the heroine, I still enjoyed the two together.

I give Something So Right a C+

cute story :D

It starts off with Sam telling us about how long he's loved Lily - they've been friends for 15 years. Sam has always lived by Lake Mississing. He was raised by his mom, not rich, always had hand me down clothes, and trying hard to make money for his little sister's to have something new for the new school year.

When he goes to the new cottage at the lake, he knows a rich family lives there. A little girl, maybe 12 or 13 answers the door and he hands her a flier asking for work around the yard. her dad hires him. Lily doesn't treat him like an outsider like the rest of the locals do. She waves at him,no matter who is with her, and invites him to go swimming and hiking with her. every summer she returns with her family, and he loves it.

Lilly gets into a relationship and gets hurt, bad. the emotional abuse, and physical abuse is too much for her to handle.. even 5 years later after she's come back to Lake Mississing and has started running the lodge out there with her sister.. She knows she doesn't deserve a good man, and isn't looking for anything long term... that's why she would never think about hooking up with Sam.. he's the type of guy who would want a relationship to last forever - every girls dream come true.. except hers...

When one nice she was feeling sorry for herself and Sam goes outside to see how she's doing, something changes and things get a little carried away......

Wow! loved the story line with this book. I think it started out a little fast. I would have loved to have seen more memories about their time together as kids. I do love the way her dad helped him out, and the flashbacks they did have, just wish there would have been more.. it seemed that Lily's feelings had turned pretty quickly.

I did like how they changed their POV's, but Lily's seemed to have gone missing after that night at the bar- what made her change her mind so fast??

Anyways- I thought it was cute. Love the best friends before lovers theory in a relationship - even if it does get really awkward at first. sam is a great guy - his feelings are real,a nd I'm glad he didn't give up on her :)

Lily Carver has spent the past five years trying to put her life back in order. She fled Toronto and her ex-fiance after finding him in bed with his paralegal. She's sworn off relationships with men, because she feels she has makes poor choices. There's only one man though that she totally depends on and that's her best friend, Sam Denning.

Sam has been in love with Lily since he first met her at age fourteen when he knocked on her door trying to get a summer gardening job. Problem is, he's never had the guts to tell her exactly how he feels. But after a conversation with his sister, who tells him she knows he's in love with Lily, and witnessing another man's attention on her, he throws caution to the wind and kisses her.

That kiss changes everything!

Sam thinks, based on Lily's response, that she's finally ready to take the next step with him. Lily, on the other hand, thinks she's made a colossal mistake and takes off. But the next day, Lily has a very different take on what happens and tosses out a proposal that Sam isn't ready for: have a short term affair and then go back to being just friends. Problem is, will either of them be able to go back once they cross that line?

Sam and Lily each come with a lot of baggage. Sam's still haunted by the taunts and ridicule of being raised on the wrong side of the tracks. Lilly's still dealing with the abusive relationship she had with her ex-finance and the secrets she's kept because of it. But the biggest baggage of all for the two of them are the feelings they have for each other.

Sam knows he's in love with Lily, he's just never done anything about it. Lily doesn't realize what's she's felt for Sam goes much deeper than the love of your best friend. But all of that comes to a head when Lily makes her proposal for the two of them to become lovers for two weeks. Immediately Sam thinks he's finally got his woman, where Lily keeps wondering what kind of mistake are they making. It's that torment that digs at your heart and has you wondering if these two will ever get their act together.

A very satisfying read that was over too soon.

SOMETHING SO RIGHT by Elyse Mady
09/11 - Carina Press – eBook, 4025 KB

Am I looking for a comfortable relationship or a relationship that provides comfort?

Lily has been successfully rebuilding her life back in the place of her childhood. She moved back after a disastrous relationship and owning the resort has brought her life peace. She is familiar with Sam Denning her general contractor from childhood and he brings her everything but peace, what Sam provides is conflict and allot of untapped passion.

Sam and Lily are the best of friends but Sam is tired of that status and wants to take things up a notch but Lily is not so sure. Lily is not about looking back but moving forward and feels that Sam is her friend and a relationship will ruin that and she has had enough relationship tragedy to last a lifetime. Sam is a man with objectives, goals and a one-track mind when it comes to Lily and they all involve a long-term relationship with the woman he loves.

Lacking self-esteem it is difficult for Lily to see herself through Sam’s eyes but once he holds a mirror up to her face and helps her explore all the facets of her beauty there is no turning back. Lily may fight him every step of the way but Sam is not going to give up, as he knows that together they are going to make magic and all he needs Lily to have is a little faith in them and especially herself.

This book is great and hits on all the areas I enjoy. Romance, conflict, characters with baggage and well more romance. The only downside for me might me that I wanted more details on what is going on with Juliette’s character but perhaps that is a follow up to this book, one can only hope.

A slightly different version of this review was published at Library Journal Xpress Reviews

Lily Carver owns an upscale inn on Lake Mississing, a tourist destination near Toronto. Sam Denning owns a design and construction company. They've been best friends for 17 years, since they were just barely teens. Sam has loved Lily forever, and he wants more than friendship. But Lily opened her inn after her breakup with her cheating fiancé and Sam doesn't know that the cheater was also an abuser. Sam wants love, while Lily thinks the sexual chemistry she feels with Sam means she's finally ready for a fling. But she's unwilling to let any man further into her life than friendship, ever again. Sam's need to protect Lily, and his desire for forever, run headlong into Lily's lack of faith in herself, and her need to keep charge of her life. The heat of their anger is almost as hot as the sexual tension. Can they have a brief fling, and ever go back to being best friends?

Verdict This best-friends-into-lovers tale starts out with a hot fantasy, and the sexual heat never cools. The story has a terrific 3/4, then ties up the loose ends abruptly. The characters were great, and the reader really gets to know them, but the ending doesn't satisfy. For a better story using the same theme, direct readers to Turn it Up by Inez Kelly.Turn It Up

But their best-laid plans are put to the test by their undeniable attraction—and by a secret Sam's been keeping from Lily that could ruin everything.
Overall I really enjoyed this book, the concept of best friends to lovers is a great one. The only issue I had was in the fact that if Sam and Lily are such close friends and have been for so long why didn't he know about her previous relationship? And with Lily I kind of wanted to say it's been 5 years get over it! lol Ms. Mady did a great job with the characters and I did love them and was glad they got their HEA.

Something So Right is a very relate able novel to so many ( or at least it was to me). If you have ever been in a abusive relationship you know how hard it is to get out of it, and then when you do it's even harder to mover on because you are so scared to death of getting hurt you rationalize not wanting to hurt the other person. That is just what Lily is going through, she has been terribly hurt by the man she was going to marry that when she decides that she loves her best friend Sam she tells herself that she not good enough for him. On the other side Sam Has loved Lily all his life but because she seems disinterested he doesn't tell her afraid he would lose her forever.

Mady gives Lily and Sam so much depth that you can't help rooting for them to get together but at the same time your yelling at Lily because she just doesn't see that she has it all with Sam. This novel was well written and easy to read. If I had one criticism of the novel I would have to say that the lovemaking scenes border on erotica for me. That being said though it's a personal preference and not all took away from the story.

Something So Right follows Lily and her best friend, Sam on a road that some of us may have traveled in life....The 'Can we go back to being best friends after we have slept together' dilema. Elyse Mady has done a nice job coming up with a story filled with some very hot sex scenes and some very heart-breaking, 'I wish I could take back what I just said' Arguments.

Lily and Sam are both coming from different places and are looking at a new relationship with different views. Lily is still recovering from a horrible break up from a few years back and she is looking for some hot bedroom action Only, and Sam, oh Sam...he is looking for a the forever kind of love with the girl that he has been head over heels for since he was fourteen.

Something So Right is a sweet look at what can happen when two friends take their relationship to the next level and the bumps and hills they follow along the way!!

I liked Elyse's last book, but there was something that was missing with this one. I couldn't completely follow the story and the progression was a little off. It felt pieced together and there was an evident lack of slow.

I finished the book, longing for the promise that these two had to tell me.

Lily was someone I wanted to relate to, but she was all over the place. She wanted sex, but she didn't want a relationship. That's normal enough. But she then wanted Sam. She kept going back and forth, it made me irritated.

Sam was the saving factor of this book. His character seemed like someone that I could be best friends with and absolutely fall in love with. It was clear that he was first thought in this story.

Though plot of this story believable, I didn't like Lily very much as a character and could hardly keep up with her flip-floppy emotions. I liked Sam, but not enough. There were some very hot scenes, but some of the terminology was certainly off-putting to me.

Like moist.

Ew.

It was a quick read and Elyse Mady gave some great descriptions of the small resort community that provided the setting. Her characters had some depth, but the big build up in the end seemed too little too late for me. It was more than just PWP, but barely.

Maybe I'm spoiled. idk. Most fanfiction lemons are way hotter to me, although there were some against the wall moments that I enjoyed. Overall, it was okay.

This book made me want to move to lake country. The setting was great and I really enjoyed reading about Sam. My problem was with Lily, I just didn't like her. I appreciate the author trying to show how Lily's history and previous relationship affected her five years later and all that but she didn't really have very many redeeming qualities IMO. Also the internal struggles of both characters were a bit repetitive and exhausting.

I enjoyed this book. The ending was not really clear to me but it made for a good read.
