Too Far: A Hotwife Novel

Rate this book
Dan should've realized it was a trap. He never should've told his wife what his actual fantasies were when she asked.

Only he did, and now he's in the doghouse. Because he's always fantasized about watching his wife with another man, and she's not that kind of girl.

And yet...

Annie can't stop thinking about her husband's fantasy. How wild and crazy it is. How she never expected his desires to be so out there. How she'd never do it... right?

As things heat up and they push the boundaries Annie and Dan might just find out what happens when the brain down below takes over and they take things too far...

Too Far is a 75,000 word hotwife novel about a couple who try exploring their fantasy with baby steps that quickly spiral out of control!

Good Story

Certainly not great, but it was a very nice story. For me the best part was the middle where she’s decided to go ahead with it and then the bar scene.

I felt the beginning was too drawn out, without the intensity of worry that must have been there. That’s true for both husband and wife. So I didn’t feel as much anxiety as I would have liked when she did finally agree to flirt.

The second half was basically the hotel room scene and of course all the sex. My problem with that was that it all seemed so simple and easy, even after the husband is let barging in. The resolution between the three of them was too easy.

Do I like happy endings? Generally yes, but I like a lot of torment getting there. But read it, it’s a little different from many stories and certainly enjoyable.

UPDATED REVIEW Nov 22, 2024

I DNF’d this book in July 2024, and then went back and reread it in Nov 2024. I didn’t give the book a rating in July, 4 Stars in Nov.

If you want to jump right into sex scenes, this isn’t the book for you. It’s a 100+ pages of tease as husband (Dan) and wife (Annie) get on the same page. Greasing the wheels is Annie’s work supervisor Trudy.

The book had the usual simple typos and continuity errors, and far too much repetition in the early pages (part of why I DNF’d it in July) but in the end provided insights into a couple that had been exclusive for 15 yrs with dreams yet to be fulfilled.

An example of some of the repetition: ““What are you thinking about?” she asked, causing me to jump in surprise. “About what we might do when we get downtown, I guess,” I said. “I bet you’re thinking about what we might do when we get downtown,” she said, that thin little smile that I knew so well coming to her beautiful lips.” — An editor or good Beta reader could really streamline the finished product from this prolific and creative author.

A couple of insights I liked:

From Trudy: “I think you’re jerking him around going back and forth on whether or not this is something you want to do, and any man is going to get tired of that after long enough.”” — Definitely something for longterm partners to think about.

The bartender at the downtown hotel bar: “I told you everyone who comes through here is looking for some fun for the evening. Everyone.” “I’m not here looking for some fun for the evening.” “You sure about that?”” — The bartender was very right.

Annie’s thoughts after a suggestion from her lover: “Was Dan being a good and doting father because he was interested in our children and genuinely interested in helping around the house? Or had all of that been part of some long con he was trying to pull so he could get me to go along with this fantasy?” — Oh, how thoughtful partners are so misunderstood …

This book is a slow burn, but in the end delivers. I agree with other reviewers that a sequel would be appreciated. This first encounter with a thoughtful lover highlighted some issues for Annie and Dan to work out, and a context for working through some emotional control issues. I’d be particularly interested in reading how the characters and their relationship grows and evolves. This author certainly has the skills to take us on an interesting ride.

4 Stars.

She Says Absolutely Not! Then, I Won’t Quit.

Pretty standard fare here. She resists and resents his desire to share her for the first half of the book.

She finally agrees to the “fake flirting” game at the bar. But then, ooops, she goes “TooFar” and leaves with the stranger to his hotel room. Right in front of her husband but without his permission.

The husband goes bonkers and eventually busts their door down. But the bull calms him down and husband agrees for them to continue with him watching.

The sex is also pretty standard fare with everyone getting what they want. After the bull leaves they reconnect and agree they will want more sharing.

The story is way too long with an inordinate amount of angst self talk. However, no cuckolding, cheating or humiliation and good writing so 3.7 stars.

BTW, the hotel scene is the only instance of sharing in the book.

Guess what..husband wants wife to have sex with another man. Wife can't understand why, meets up with beastie who says 'go for it gal' & of course, she does and probably will continue to do so now the cats etc.. Not a bad read, kept alive by the husband & wife conversations which were good bit above some others of a similar ilk..

I really enjoyed this story

I hadn't read any of Lexi's books in a long while, however, this one caught my eye and sounded interesting. It turned out to be a well written and an interesting and hot story. It is a fairly long book which I like. Good stories need time to develope. All the main characters are appealing ; each has a good part in moving the plot along. There is some good angst as the story builds to a good, erotic ending. I also like the ending. All in all well worth your time!

The wife seemed always angry. That was the hard part to read.
The risk of pregnancy was a sexy twist that could have played out a bit more as risk… would have been so much better.

Amazing story

Only thing that was over used was licking of lips. Other than that, it was an excellent story, well worth the read!

MS ARCHER'S BEST
THE DIALOGUE IS DELIGHTFUL!

I rented this from Kindle Unlimited.
I have been more than impressed with it. It blew me away.
I DID purchase it.
This is a full novel, not a novella.
It starts out slow, very much like a cuckold tale.
The characters are delightful. They have been together for fifteen years and have two kids.
Annie comes across as a prude in the beginning. The conflict arises when she walks in on Dan as he's watching porn on the computer. That in itself isn't the issue. It occurs when she asks Dan what his fantasy is.
He shares his 'wife watching' fantasy.
That shocks her. She has trouble believing he's not pushing for a threesome with another woman.
You get a tour through her thinking as she finally realizes what his real fansasy is.
She has trouble with the concept. That bothers her for over a week. She stops talking to him, and won't let him touch her.
At work, she finally, after much probing, reveals her problem with an older woman co-worker.

This story has fantastic characters. A great deal of humor and the connection between this couple is awesome.
The story is told with dual perspectives. You get invited into both minds as the story progresses.
This fantasy takes time to percolate down to her libido.

They play with Role Play on this topic and a week later, make a date for a Hotel Bar Downtown. The idea is for her to flirt while hubby watches. It doesn't go quite like either one of them planned.

The heat and choreography are magnificent.
The dialogue is fantastic.
It's a delightful adult story.
The events progress in a logical, but sometimes surprising fashion.
This novel sets up a scenario that begs to be continued.
Ms Archer is absolutely brilliant.
This book, all by itself, put her into my 'favorite Author' category.

The last half of this tale is impossible to put down.
They started a 'hobby' that they have no intention of stopping.
PLEASE GIVE US MORE!!!!

If ever there was ever a story that deserved a sequel,... This one is IT!
