2.75. Not the easiest read of taschen’s artists, nevertheless informative. While the author covers Degas’s art and some of his character the way the artwork is written about is tedious to read. There’s a bit too much artistic emphasis on descriptors and analysis that bogs the text down making it seem longer than just 90ish pages - additional the pictures of the artworks aren’t on the same or correlating pages so you can’t follow the text and the images in a linear way. A similar issue applies to the quotes sprinkled throughout the book’s side margins; the quotes don’t correspond to the greater text nor are they necessary expounded on, it’s just like here’s some stuff he said unincorporated in the book.
