Their Virgin Captive

Rate this book
Brothers Gavin, Slade, and Dex, fall hard for Gavin’s new secretary, beautiful Hannah Craig. The oil executives know they must give her time to get to know them before she can choose one . . . who will seduce the virgin and keep her for his own. But when a dangerous predator begins stalking the small-town beauty, they work together to protect her, abducting Hannah and spiriting her to an isolated hideaway. Once alone with her, none of them can contain their burning desire. Though Slade and Dex don’t mind sharing, Gavin’s tragic past has put distance between him and his brothers. Now, they’re hoping that not only will Hannah love them back . . . but maybe mend their fractured family.

After overcoming her initial fears, the men teach her wild pleasure she’s never imagined. She grows closer to each, their devotion melting her inhibitions. Hannah finds herself embracing love with all three men—and hoping she can heal Gavin’s wounded soul. But her new found happiness turns to terror when her stalker finds her. Will Gavin, Slade and Dex lose their woman to a menace that threatens everything they hold dear, or will they finally unite to make Hannah theirs forever?

*Spoilers*

Okay let me start out by saying that I don't normally read very many Menage books. I am not a sharer so it is harder for me to relate, but I do read them every now and then to keep things fresh and to keep me from getting bored. And of the 10 or so I have read in the last few years I enjoyed almost all of them. I say all that so that everyone reading this review knows that I am no Menage book expert and this is just my humble opinion on this book! Their Virgin Captive was just a MEH whatevs for me! I didn't get it!

 photo hann7_zps3qdieidz.gif

First off I had a hard time getting into this one right out the gate because the heroine's name is Hannah, which is my daughter's name. That is one of my pet peeves! I don't like to read books with my children's names in it that have detailed sex scenes. Just eww! I have been putting off this series for a while now for that very reason, but I really wanted to read book 2 and 5 in this series and having OCD I can't skip around. I have to read them all and in order so I had to power through not only sex scenes with my child's name in it, but group sex scenes sooooo yea a struggle from the start.

 photo hann12_zpssbv6depc.jpg

Still keeping an open mind this book was just not working for me. There wasn't much of a love story or deep character development. I didn't really connect to any of the characters in this book and I was not invested in their relationship. The story was so not believable. The way they start their relationship was so unrealistic I was rolling my eyes. I am to believe that the 3 brothers, 1 who is the CEO and Hannah's boss, just go from being nice to her and having a work relationship to without warning decide she is theirs and literally throwing her over their shoulder and taking her on a plane against her will and then spanking her for not telling them she has a stalker. Really? From Boss's brother to spanker without a date or a "hey we're into you and want you to be our girl. Also we are in to S & M and wanna spank you." Nothing??

 photo hann6_zpspt6y0xyr.gif

 photo hann15_zpsgddqoljf.gif

Let's just say I buy the start of their relationship (which I don't) they instantly start throwing around the "I love yous" and we all wanna marry you. And she goes from being a virgin to butt plugs in less than 24 hours!

 photo hann16_zpsmdieqiny.jpg

Oh and Gavin OMG Gavin was a jerk! Gavin had a traumatic event happen like 10 years ago so he is all broody "I don't deserve love" which is fine. I like broody damaged Heroes and I get that they push their love interest away and all, but Gavin didn't just push Hannah away He acted like an ass and said such dickish things to her, and she was just like whatevs. Nothing phased her. Kidnnapping, 3 men wanting to marry her and make her their submissive, butt plugs, spankings it's cool! OH and let's talk about the spankings. I don't mind spanking in books but at one point in the book they give her 40 swats. Really WTF. That is not kinky that is excessive! Just saying. And after said 40 swats she immediately has sex with all 3 of them at the same time. Cuzz yea that would happen! This book so didn't work for me. I hope the next one is better.

After I finish books like this, sometimes I have to ask myself: Really, what was I expecting?

The thing is, Shayla Black has written books that really wiped me out. Books for which I don't remember the sex, just the truly emotionally affecting transformation of the hero and heroine into people who can be happy together.

This was not one of those books. This was sort of like...paint-by-numbers menage a quatre. Honestly, the best I can do is pose the following questions:

1) What is up with these menage books in which the male partners are brothers? Is this to remove any hint that there might be same-sex attraction at play? Because all it does is add a creepy incest dynamic. I mean, think about it this way - you're screwing away, hovering on the verge of orgasm, and then you look up and lock eyes with...your brother, who is also about to pop off like a rocket? IDK, for me this would be the opposite of sexy.

2) In menage a quartre books, there's always the inevitable four-way screw-a-palooza, which the heroine always seems to handle unflappably. But it kind of seems like, I don't know, this might be kind of a major leap for a VIRGIN. I'm NOT a virgin, and it would be a major leap for me. I AM JUST SAYING.

3) While I'm on the subject. A virgin: WHY? Statistically, 92% of American women experience first intercourse by age 24 (this stat courtesy of our friends at the Kinsey Institute). Where are all these 25-to-30-year-old Romancelandia virgins coming from? Amish country?

Beyond this, I got nothing. This was neither hot nor emotionally affecting. I can't even remember the heroine's name. Or the heroes' names, except that they were kind of porny (maybe one was named SLATE or something like that?).

Oh boy. *sigh* I had some high hopes for this one, but it turned out just okay for me.

Three tall, dark, and studly Texas brothers (Gavin James (32), Slade James (28), and half brother Dex Townsend (27)) capture their sweet, blonde, virginal "admin" (I'm assuming that's some sort of slang for administrative assistant) and whisk her off to their remote oil company offices in Alaska when they find out a stalker is after her. Two of the brothers waste no time in letting 25-year-old Hannah know just want they want from her (they're doms, she's agreed to be their "sub" in the bedroom)--but oldest brother Gavin is hung up on some tragic mistake from his past and though he desperately wants to, he can't bring himself to join in the fun and games. So he acts like a complete ass****, and tries to discourage Hannah's love for him (Hannah loves all the brothers--annoyingly referred to as the "James Gang"). Will Gavin ever spill his guts and tell his brothers and Hannah why he can't let himself have some happiness and partake in their hot little ménage, or will he keep being the same remote ass he's been for the last 10 years, letting guilt destroy his life?

Despite some hotness in this story, it wasn't quite as steamy as it could've been. And too many eye-rolling moments brought me out of the story and kept me from getting fully engrossed in the storytelling. And a couple of things bugged me-- I never fully felt the emotional connection between Hannah and the brothers--it all seemed kind of physical to me. And if you can't check your disbelief at the door, this one is never going to fly with you. Hannah goes from an inexperienced virgin to a woman who takes on three well-endowed he-men who like to dole out spankings, use nipple clamps and butt plugs and have 4-way sex, all in a matter of a few days. With no complaints--she loves it all. Takes to it like a duck to water. Ah, I could go on, but I think I've said enough. Oh yeah, the suspense plot about the stalker? I knew who he was almost immediately--the author drops a big fat clue and you'd have to be skimming to miss it. And the confrontation between the stalker and Hannah (the dialogue) almost seemed ridiculous. Bottom line is, I just couldn't fully connect with this bunch. 3 1/2 stars

Warning: This book contains explicit sex (including oral and anal); m/f/m/m ménage (no m/m interaction); graphic language, some spanking, and the use of some sex toys. Not for the faint of heart.

Three rough Texan brothers, one completely virginal secretary (did she grow up in a isolated cabin at the mountain without TV?). Not a believable story line and a mystery just for laughs. I knew who was the stalker from the first page that we met him. Eye rolling dialogues. Lots of spanking and BDSM out of the blue. Graphic and totally hilarious smutty sex scenes.
Let's just call it guilty pleasure and let's just have fun with the book.

4 smokin hot stars!

The sex scenes, Dirty, Sexy, & Hot...
The storyline, things progressed to fast,
Not enough of a build between the characters, so the insta love didn't work,
But like, I said the Sex was Smokin Hot..
So that worked for me... I was hoping for more, but still a descent read... ;)

Warning, rant ahead...

I’m never really comfortable with people going out of their way to speak ill of the dead, either in real life or in fiction, and that happened in spades here. Gavin’s dead girlfriend is a slut. A conniving, social climbing slut who took advantage of Gavin during his very rough life period of being a young billionaire. He was rich! She was slutty! What could he do except fuck her repeatedly?

But then we find out why Gavin feels so guilty after her death.

I bought this story mainly because Shayla Black's name was on cover and so were the words virgin and menage. What does that say about my reading habits? Considering I also get excited when I see Etruscan or cryptozoology in a title, I'm not sure.

Anyway, my bad for not deciphering the title more closely. I totally overlooked the implication of the word Master. I don't typically read BDSM, only because I can't get past my immediate reaction to laugh when a man tells a woman to kneel on the floor at his feet or he'll spank her. I keep thinking, I'd be telling him to get on his knees and while he's down there, clean the floor and maybe I'll buy him dinner later. Hmm, maybe someone can recommend some good femdom.

That said, Shayla Black and Lexi Blake's writing is compact but emotionally compelling and, though short, the story held my interest and I finished it in a few hours.

Now I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter in the Doomsday Brethren series.

1.5 Stars :((

Oh dear, I really wish I had given this a miss! I don't require my books to be 'deep' or carry a meaning/lesson, I am really easy going and easy to please as I just want to get lost in the story, but of course for me to do this it has to have a little bit of substance whether it comes in the format of romance or suspense or even just really smutty graphic sex scenes making it a pure sexfest but this book had none of that which made it a really disappointing read. I have never read anything by Ms Black so can't compare but I do know this was not up to Ms Blake's usual standard!

I now have a bit of a dilemma on my hands in that I had got the whole series at the same time, so do I go ahead and carry on reading them in hopes they get better but possibly waste special reading time, or do I leave them which is a waste of money! :(((

Audio version.

Ok, so Hannah Craig has a stalker and Texan hunk brothers Gavin, Slade & Dex come to her rescue by whisking her away to Alaska.

On occasion, thoughts like cheesy and corny popped into my brain. I continued on because I had to see how it worked logistically/emotionally. Yeah well that fell short too - especially when narrated (at times) in a full Texan drawl!

I'm afraid this was a bit much for little ole me. I've discovered three men is just one too many for me to handle! :D

This is an honest review. You've been warned.

Oh whatever mambang (evil spirit/ghost in Malay) please stop this reading damnation because this is second book I've tried to read written by Shayla Black because I needed that erotic-read dose so badly and yet it didn't move pass from likable.

What I liked
Despite second bro Slade and half-bro Dex dropped L-bomb whenever it concerns Hannah, I quite liked the attraction going-ons between Gavin and Hannah. Only if Slade and Dex were out of picture or instead of brothers, the two were strangers to fit the menage theme, Gavin and Hannah would be a perfect couple alright!

Steamy scenes were hot though. No can deny that.

What I disliked
Hannah has weak bone in her. It wasn't appealing to me if I were a man.

Three brothers share Hannah and they do permanent thing and that means they all married to Hannah.

WHAAAT?

I didn't know if it happened out there in real world but seriously, is that possible? I mean, how to love three men at the same time? In case of physical relationship I understand how it goes but in case of emotionally? No clue. But on second thought, this is fiction. So... no reason to make my head hurts to think the possibility of it.

Menage with all of them are strangers, I know the deal but menage that has brothers in it? Incest alert. Just... euw!

......
And here I thought the stalker thing would make things hyped up but sadly it didn't. Overall? I am downright disappointed. And that two stars? They are solely for parts that I liked and I, being nice.

Read on your own peril.

On the eve of putting their plan into action to seduce and capture, Administrative assitant Hannah Craig, brothers Slade and Dex want to get their other brother Gavin on board. They want Hannah forever, legally abd intimately, their only obstacle is jarring Gavin from whatever guilt he harbors from a previous relationship that Hannah is what they need to unite them as family.

As if Gavin's stubborn determination to spend life alone wasn't enough, they find out that Hannah has a stalker who is getting more determined to have her by the minute. With the original plan out the door, they kidnap Hannah to a secluded place planning to protect, love, and hopefully become their submissive. Hannah has longed for all three men, but those were just her inner fantasies, when they become a reality she is not sure if she is woman enough for all three men, after all she is a virgin.

Fantastic read, my favorite was Dex, talk about Alpha Male. Yum. I do like that one of the alpha men is pretty vulnerable and once he gets his head in order you see a completely different side. Great book.

Loved this, It was very steamy and I loved the characters. There was a really good story and emotions behind the characters it was not just some sex with a little story mixed in. I stayed up Until 3:00 am just to finish it and couldn't put it down. I enjoyed Hannah's character immensely, a strong female that submits because she wants to not because she is weak.

Disappointing.

Predictable.

Reasonably hot sex, though the oldest brother's angst got old and distracted from the hotness.

Unbelievable that oldest brother who had never topped could suddenly turn on the "dom," and work in sync with both of his other brothers with a virgin. Really, wouldn't four in a bed be logistically awkward the first time when two had never done that before?

If this had been a new author, I'd never buy any future titles by this author, but I gave it 2 stars only because some of Shayla Black's books are on my favorites list.

In this book in particular, it didn't seem realistic that three young, wealthy, healthy, and alpha brothers would be happy sharing one admittedly alluring female. Just doesn't make sense to me what they get out of sharing her. This 3 on 1 theme works for me in historical westerns (shortage of women, so all had to make due after all). And sometimes two males sharing one female makes sense. And a loving Mf couple who occasionally have a third join them can be a logical plot line. But three independent males sharing one female in a modern romance is puzzling.

Oh well, another menage that I didn't like. I appreciate that I'm really difficult to please when it comes to menage, but I had high hopes after seeing some really good reviews. Unfortunately I half laughed/half cringed my way through this.

The dialogue was a bit ridiculous and I didn't find it sexy at all.

Admittedly, when Hannah is sore the day after her deflowering and she's musing to herself that it's because she spent the night 'riding hungry men' I did hiss with jealousy. :)

I don't know why I do this to myself. Maybe I am hoping it will be funny? Maybe I am hoping it will be hot? It certainly is ridiculous. I am breaking up with Shayla Black, she doesn't know it yet but I cannot keep going on this way. This story is a sort of strange, sort of bizarre (I'd say very but that would imply something interesting) story of a 25 year old virgin in love with three huge, commanding, demanding, somehow coordinating Doms (think linebacker crossed with a Neanderthal). I always thought the point of a Dom was that one person is in charge of activities-- are they co-Doms? Apparently, three can be in charge of one very open minded, adept virgin. Again there is an orgasm with the de-flowering ceremony. They are all in love and are gonna have babies and the brothers are fixed by their hokey-pokey -- although how they are fixed by her in particular is surprising as she is not really allowed to speak during sexual sessions. I guess just knowing that it is her and not an anonymous gal is enough.

The James brothers really know how to charm a woman... throw her over a shoulder and march off to the wilds of Alaska. Ok, so their house in Alaska isn't exactly roughing it but still.

Gavin, Dex, and Slate have a situation where Hannah Craig is concerned - they're all in love with her - so when they discover she had a stalker, they jump into action. Sometimes it's comical. Other times, GAH!

Gavin has some baggage that needs working on while managing to tick off and push away the three people he cares most for. It leads to heartbreak and headaches.

There is no denying that, whether one-on-one or with more hands, this quadruple really knows how to heat things up, even when it's an angry encounter.

I enjoyed this via an audiobook. Serena Daniels did a great job but with a nearly all male cast of characters, it would have been even better to have at least one male narrator.

Story: 4.5 stars
Narration: 4 stars

**EDIT**

Review 2016

Okay...so this book kept flashing through all my twitter feeds, I kept seeing the hunky men surrounding the woman on this cover and realized I needed to read it. I did not take a single note in this book. I couldn't stop turning the page.

I am not usually into a menage situation that has more than two men for the one woman. But in the story brought to us by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake I was dying for Gavin to come into the fold. (pun totally unintended, but I'm keeping it)

We have Hannah, who is an ordinary "country-girl" secretary to CEO Gavin James. Gavin runs a big time company with his two brothers Dex and Slade. Gavin for me stole the story. He feels like he is on the outside looking into the relationships around him. He carries around a horrible secret from his past that has made him the tortured A-Hole that all of us love to hate/love/hate/and love again. Yes there was a connection between Dex and Hannah, and Slade and Hannah. All three brothers were over the moon for this lucky girl, but I was constantly turning the page waiting for Gavin to finally get it through his skull that he couldn't live where he was at.

The James gang as Hannah calls them were meant to share her, and despite her Virgin-status (look at the title folks) she takes on all three brothers like she is the sex kitten queen. Some might scoff at it, but it rang true for me. Sometimes a woman's personality can guide her life exactly where it needs to be and can help her handle any sticky situation. And oh my lord there was sticky to be had here!

Hannah has a stalker, and of course with Dex and Slade being full-on Doms, they grab the girl and take her away whether she likes it or not. By the end of the plane ride...yeah...she likes it.

Even though I was ready to reach through my Kindle and smack Gavin multiple times in this book, I think I ended up loving him all the more for the shit he put us all through. Great story. Can't wait for more by these authors. 5 stars.

This was just the strangest thing for me. I love Shayla Black. But I didn't find her in the writing of this book. I thought the premise sounded so hot, of course who wouldn't want 3 hot guys to be interested in being with her... at the same time. Especially if they are hot brothers. But this book was not too sensual in my opinion.

Gavin, Slade and Dex own a pretty big oil company. Hannah has been Gavin's assistant for quite some time. And during that whole time all three brothers have wanted her. Slade and Dex a little more forward and openly about it. Gavin always hanging back because of his tormented past.

Slade and Dex have finally made the decision that they want to be in a relationship with her and they want all 3 of them to share her. At the same time, Hannah has a stalker and it's getting pretty dangerous.

The brothers of course step up to protect their woman and claim her at the same time. Gavin goes along with the protection part but he still acts like an ass to keep his distance from her.

Were there hot scenes throughout the book? Yes absolutely! I just didn't feel much connection there, and something I can't put my finger on yet that didn't convince me.

2.5 Sharing is Caring Stars!

Well, besides the fact that you don't need a brain to read this book, just a vagina, it just wasn't for me. Another one that is just way too much sex and not enough story.

However, I did really enjoy Gavin and Hannah. Those two together, alone, would've been a great book. Even if they wanted to freak it up and bring in the other two for their ménage fixes once in a while but....come on, that's it. Don't start throwing the "L" word around and tell me that you think it is totally normal to marry and fuck the same woman that your two brothers are going to marry and fuck, for the rest of all of your kinky happy lives.

The sex scenes were hot. Don't get me wrong...I'm not dead! But, I guess I need my mind seduced before I'm letting you in downstairs and it just wasn't happening for me here.

Now let me just say, this ain’t my normal cup of tea my friends. But I got a free copy so I figured I’d give it a shot. I just could not take it seriously for the life of me though! I have no idea how there are more books in this series. The characters didn’t hold my interest and of course the main female had a stalker and happened to be the damsel in distress type. Just irritated, that’s how this book made me feel. I mean not to mention the incest. Ménage relationship? Sure, go for it! Ménage relationship with people related??? How bout we all just don’t.
