Best reverse Harem vampire romance I've ever read!!!!! Blood Claimed: Shadowsend Clan was fantastic! You know I love a great vampire romance and this checked all my boxes! Hot vampire hero's who are naughty as they are fierce sexy alpha males! I want them all! And they come in all shapes and size's😂King Rowan forge is intense as he is cold but if the woman you loved tore you apart on your mating day and said you were a sorry excuse for a vampire and ran away maybe you'd be a distant asshole too. Then theirs Darrow who has been a friend and grew up with Aisling who felt from the beginning that something happened to make Aisling run away and he's also been in love with her for years! He's sexy and confident and the only one to welcome Aisling back to the fold. Then theirs Finn a mountainous sexy as sin vampire who I wouldn't mind climbing again and again😉And then theirs Aisling! I loved this vamp princess! She is snarky, smart and has no trouble telling even the most scariest vamps off! I knew from the first few pages that I was going to adore her! Between the tattoos, piercings and bright fushia hair and a t-shirt that said bite me and going up against one of the most deadly assassin vampires Cormac and telling him he needed breathe mints! I was smitten with this gutsy chic! And all through the book she just keep doing her thing and even when the hare scare twin ancients and high council members Aldwyn and butcher of Liverpool and total monster Zachariah his twin brother torture her she still has that snark!See Aisling finds out that she's not only related to queen Maeve but one of the most powerful of their kind who had a secret to ruling over all vampires including the Elders who were Caines original vamps. She has passed her secret to Aisling and with it comes the power to destroy them all. And what about the mysterious and beautiful elder Nicolai who swoops in and takes her from Aldwyn and forces her and Rowan into a mating ceremony. The only catch, Nicolai not only mixed his blood with theirs but spoke a ancient spell and now their all linked as one. This elder has my attention! I know he's sneaky and has his own agenda but I really like this vamp! With a face and eyes of a fallen angel and even knowing that he is a true predator if I was Aisling he would be definitely in my bed! He screams wicked fantasies for all ! Fabulous writing and awesome characters are what make this book a hit! And I can't wait for more steamy fang banging!😂 Book two Ruthless Liege comes out in May! And I can't wait! Until next time Luv's💕💋

Vampires were hunters by nature, and chasing our prey brought out the bestial side of us, reached down deep and reminded us that we were all monsters at heart.

DNF @56%… story building is a mess without proper history introduction or explanation. The last straw for me is Rowan. Up until 50% and they still don’t talk to each other even though he knows Aisling circumstances. Also…you know your mate was being forced to leave you, and the next thing you did is to fuck other women? Nope nope nope!

This story started out with Aisling hiding out from her home clan bartending in the human world, but all hell broke loose when clan members from the council came to bring her home.
When she was forcibly brought home, it was with the intention of her mating the vampire Rowan, the same male she had left at the altar 7 years prior.
She had publicly humiliated him in front of the whole clan, Aisling had her reasons to do what she did. In order to keep Rowan and her family safe she had to leave without him questioning her so the best why was for her to break his heart so he wouldn't follow her. Needless to say, she didn't receive a welcome home party when she was forced home. 😳
She was made to suffer humiliation like she put him through, and boy did they make her pay the price for leaving. Rowan made a deal with the council, in order to become king, he had to mate Aisling when she was brought home.
There are lots of secrets being whispered and plots being done throughout this book, never a dull moment. One of these books I could barely put down to sleep!!
A huge power struggle between the high council and the elders and the reason they wanted Aisling back was because she had magic. Each party wanted that magic to use in order to take control over all the clans.
I absolutely loved ❤ Aisling, she was snarky, full of sass 😂 and didn't take crap from others. She was also hated by Rowan's brothers Finn and Darrow. They had once been close friends, but also felt betrayed by her when she left. Once they realized she had her reasons for her leaving and what she went through to actually protect them Finn and Darrow tried to win back her friendship and love.
This was one of the best vampire stories I've ever read! 👏

I feel like I should have read the authors other series before this one. Maybe I would have better understanding of the universe. I just feel like I’m 60% in and don’t have all the info that I should.

Opening story in the Shadowsend Vampire Clan series, Blood Claimed revolves around the court of Shadowsend. Aisling has been in hiding for seven years, sent away by those she loved to protect herself and her people from violence that would pursue her. She was meant to be the mate of Rowan Forge, but was forced into hiding on the night of their mating ceremony. And it wasn't just Rowan she severed ties with, Rowan's brother Finn and their close friend Darrow have been left behind as well. Seven years after that night, Aisling is found and brought home to treachery, intrigue, and murderous plans which center around her.

I almost pulled an all-night read to get through this story. It did not want to be put down. The Shadowsend series is connected to the Darkfell Vampire Clan series, although I had no problem starting with this book. I didn't feel like I was missing anything in the story by not starting in Darkfell first. [I do want to read the Darkfell series now, however.] This is RH PNR story… much as Darkfell is. But the larger story is the intrigue and the mysteries we must solve to understand what's truly going on, and why it's going on. This is compelling story telling, gripping plot twist after gripping plot twist. Well-paced, we feel the natural growth of the storyline and nothing feels like filler.

We do end in the middle of the story, so there's that. It's not a cliffhanger, per se, but it is not a HEA either. Still, we have learned a LOT by the end of Blood Claimed, and we want to know the rest. This reads like a piece of an epic story. We get all the feels for Aisling and the men she loves, their struggles, fears, and hopes. So many conflicting agendas being pursued at the same time, it's enough to chew down your fingernails and still wish the next book was ready to read.

[Only item of note-the word "dematerialized" is probably intended to be "rematerialized" in terms of the vampires showing up in a new location.]

Reverse Harem Vampire Romance!

Aisling ran away seven years ago. She publicly humiliated her mate, Rowan Forge, all to protect those she cared about in her court from the violence that would come had she chose otherwise. Now Aisling is forced to come back and is treated with much disdain from the moment she arrives. She must work to regain her status and keep her secrets from being discovered. I absolutely loved Aisling's character. As well as Rowan's, Finn's, and Darrow's. I can't wait to see their story continue. The plot was very entertaining and well written. (I loved the spicy scenes! 😉)

Would I recommend Blood Claimed? Yes! There is so many secrets to be discovered, truths to be told, and action woven into this story!

bit of a confusing mess

It wasn’t that this book was bad, but it felt like things were missing. The reader is sort of plopped into a world that didn’t have a real explanation. Vampire society wasn’t exactly explained and it would’ve been ok if vampire society was the only race introduced but this FMC lived hidden in The US for several years. With humans, in hiding, and it didn’t seem like humans knew of the mythical world. There wasn’t any real education about the world this author created or the hierarchy. I felt like I spent a decent amt of time trying to differentiate between the elders and high counselors who was most important and powerful. And even now I’m still scratching my head. I don’t know if maybe I missed out on other books in this type of world so I can get a sense of what the heck is going on but I just didn’t feel like this was a well thought out and executed book.

Personally I wasn’t a fan of the main male character continuing to bang the other woman where the fmc could and did hear and then he says that the fmc was his true mate or whatever. It cheapens and lessens how “special” and “unique” that bond is supposed to be if he’s able to get it up for someone else, even though there was a snippet saying he couldn’t. He still did.

This book needs a better explanation of the world. The reader needs to feel submersed, not confused.

I am completely and utterly smitten with this story, devoured this first book last night! It is not just my absolute adoration of vampires, but it is also the complicated court politics, harsh truths, hidden secrets, cunning minds and complex connection that make this story a pure delight. When it comes to complicated hierarchical structures and the intensity of power- driven plans, the author has done an outstanding job as she has masterfully portrayed the ruthlessness, the hidden agendas and the cutthroat competition that takes place in this story. As this is my first book by this author, I am quite impressed with the word building, vivid imagery and the complexity of the characters.

Aisling has her own deep dark secrets to keep and when she is dragged down to a life she left behind, old wounds come back to life. I wonder if her rejected mate, Rowan will see light at the end if the tunnel or will old grudges persevere? It might be the case where someone like Finn, someone who had stood at the sidelines, aid Ash in her darkest times. Or it might just be her oldest friend, Darrow, the one who never lost hope, to have her back when all odds are against her. Super eager to see how this plays out as there are too many unknown variables and dangers creeping their way from all sides.
The character that I am really drawn to is Nikolai, the Elder. There is just something mysterious and immensely captivating about a person, who shows no emotion, possesses tremendous power makes you question what lays behind the surface.

I would sincerely recommend this to those, who enjoy vicious court politics, carefully kept secrets, second chance romance and of course the allure of the vampire world.

This book was so much more than I expected!!!

This is not your typical Vampire Romance, although it is filled with hot, vampire passion and eventually love, and it is a reverse harem. But this book is so much more than that! The plot kept me tuning the pages, the angst made me feel gutted and angry, the romance made me swoon and the Vampires that are after their clan made me worry there was no hope! Who can you trust? It’s kind of a keep you on the edge of your seat kind of situation.

The world building was so interesting! It’s basically urban fantasy at the beginning, but after that it is all about the Vampire Royal’s and their world.

The characters, always my favorite part, are all consuming, whether out of a growing affection for them, a growing frustration with them or full on disgust. But they are written so well that you are engrossed and affected by them.

I was fully engaged in this story and devoured it and was disappointed when it ended! I look forward to book two!! And all I can say is if you like vampires, romance…but more than that, angst (not my favorite), action, an extremely interesting take on the history of vampires, and war between Royals, the vampire council and the originals, you will really love this book!! It’s one I highly recommend!!!

I ate this book up, I really could not get enough! I already pre-ordered the second book coming out in May and I am sad that I have to wait an entire month. I loved all the action and drama as well as the story going on between Ash, Rowen, Darrow, Finn. I enjoyed that this was vampires but not in the sense that it was all about vampires, bloodsucking, etc. it was mostly fantasy and could have been any magical "being" not just a vampire. I enjoyed the twists on the traditional vampire-lore I guess you could say. Ash is a badass character and I am definitely interested in reading more from this author. I highly recommend this book if you like some spice, adrenaline, magic, and political/warring/maneuvering.

Ash ran from her home her mate and her magic until she is dragged home to fulfil her destiny, she is bound to the new vampire king and has her life threatened at every turn. Secrets are what’s keeping everyone together and also pushing them apart.

Honestly I’m not sure how LA McGinnis does it! She writes the most exquisite slow burn reverse harem spicy scenes and STILL smashes the plot. This is no different, her writing style has you gripped from start to finish. This is my first vampire series that I’ve read from her and I am absolutely besotted with them all and the plot line! Beyond excited to see the FMC’s character growth in book two and see all the twists and turns unravelled

Wow! Amazing read
A mix of steamy sex, intrigue and danger that had me hooked from the start.
So much happening and each chapter just kept getting better and better.
A vampire tale with such a great storyline and characters that I could envision it perfectly in my head.
This story was so captivating that I could not put it down, from the non stop danger, secrets, torture and manipulation to the intense feelings between Ash and the three men she is drawn to.
Looking forward to reading the conclusion.

Arc review

After reading the Darkfell vampire clan series and the Blackstone vampire clan series, L.A. McGinnis is introducing us the Shadowsend vampire clan. Contrary to the first two series being based in the USA, this one brings us in Ireland, where queen Maeve is from.

Aisling (Ash) is the new heroin and she is in way over her head.

Secrets, lies, manipulation, self sacrifice, steamy, forbidden love and more.

The uncertainty of the futur are directly connected to the unknown of the past.

Definitely should read read this.

It’s not necessary to have read the previous two series, but it’s a more complet experience if you did.

When a book starts with "balloons, the gunpowder, the whipped cream," it immediately grabs my attention. This is a romance, but the plot is every bit as equally interesting. I am so grateful that the plot is no t an excuse for smut (although the plot is sprinkled heavily with smut).

The Plot:
==================
I was told there would only be two romantic additions during a slow build-up, but let's just say there have been several romantic sections with one guy. Despite all the sex, this novel has a huge amount of plot.
Aeslynn's fated mate was rejected long ago, and he now makes a point of exhibiting his new significant other in front of her when she is dragged back into vampire society. The vampire council insisted that the two complete the union, so Aeslynn is effectively married on paper. She hates him; she wants him. Meanwhile, she starts seeing one of their 2 mutual friends.
On the nonromantic side, there are two sides vying for real rule over the vampires. The vampire council, led by twins and fronted by Aeslynn's abuser, Damian. Damian is also Rowan's (her mate’s) dad. On the other side are the Elders, the original vampires, represented by Nikolai. We don't know his motivations, but he added his blood to the supposed mating ceremony. “Mating rituals don’t use blades,” she whispered. “But there are other rituals that do." Nikolai keeps sniffing around her, and she is afraid he might know Aeslynn has secret magic. Rowan's clan is caught in the middle of the two factions.
Despite having this fountain of magic inside, Aeslynn cannot use it and gets abused by Damian, who finds her lacking as a potential mate for his son. However, she does learn a little more about her magic through the storyline.
The plot is so good that I keep reading even when I am not in the mood. Aeslynn is at times a victim, at times a forceful, strong lady, and I can relate to her growth as she acknowledges her past abuse.

The Romance:
=================================
"my core responded by weeping like a fountain.” Say what? I realized that this omegaverse term actually implies that vampires have a completely different sexual response than humans. I laugh at this phrase every time, imagining the poor plumbers who have to clean up the flooded basement afterwards. But there is a reason for the phrase.

In their youth, Aeslynn hung out with Brennan, Finn, and Darrow until she spurned Rowan and ran to human civilization. Of course, they were confused and angry. When she is dragged back into court, they slowly make up. And by that I mean smexy pages of breakup/makeup. By the end they are willing to die for each other.

However, there is a twist: Nikolai. He tinkered with the mating ritual. He is the tall, dark, and mysterious man of my dreams. Plus, either the Elders or the Council or both don’t want Rowan and Aeslynn together. This results in miscommunication and confusion. "Now I was trying to save the clan the only way I knew how. I’d let them put a crown on my head. I’d mated the female I despised." At least on paper.

Icky moments:
===================
Massive shudder about taking out the contacts. Them’s fighting words. So unhygienic.

• Smut level: scorching. 5 🌶️’s
• Rejected mates
• Friends-to-lovers
• Reverse Harem (starting with 2)
• Gore
• Hidden powers
• Princess in hiding

Blood Claimed is a captivating start to a paranormal romance series that hooked me from the very first page. L.A. McGinnis delivers an irresistible blend of urban fantasy, intricate world-building, and a slow-burn romance featuring second-chance love, friends-to-lovers, and enemies-to-lovers dynamics.

**Spoiler & Trigger Warning:** There is some "other woman" (OW) drama in this book, but in book two, she becomes a friend and valuable ally. Personally, I loved this development—it’s exactly how OW drama should be handled!

What I Loved:

Complex and Relatable Characters: Aisling, the heroine, is a force to be reckoned with. Forced to reject her mate, Rowan, and leave behind his brother, Finn, and her best friend, Darrow, seven years ago, she’s now dragged back to the Shadowsend Clan by a terrifying vampire elder, Nikolai. To survive, she must navigate an arranged mating with her bitter, spurned former mate. Her struggle to reclaim her place while mourning her past life is both heartbreaking and compelling. Rowan’s initial treatment of Aisling will frustrate you, but his actions pave the way for Darrow—and eventually Finn—to reconnect with her. (Darrow is definitely my favorite!)

A Unique Take on Vampire Society: The Shadowsend Clan has its own distinct culture and traditions, yet it exists within a larger, interconnected world that continues the Darkfell series. Each clan has its own rules, power struggles, and politics, adding depth and intrigue.

Enemies-to-Lovers Done Right: The slow-burn romance is one of the book’s highlights. Aisling’s fractured relationships with Rowan, Finn, and Darrow create delicious tension. As secrets unravel and the truth about her past decisions comes to light, their animosity shifts into something far more intense and emotionally satisfying.

Fast-Paced and Action-Packed: The story moves at a gripping pace, packed with action, political intrigue, and unexpected twists. The ambiguity of the true villains—whether it's the Elders, the High Council, the twins, or even Nikolai—keeps the stakes high and the suspense sharp.

Intriguing Magic System: Hints of magic and supernatural abilities add another layer of fascination. Aisling’s powers are still unfolding, and I’m eager to see how they shape not just her journey, but the fate of those around her.

Cliffhanger: There is a slight cliffhanger, but rather than feeling frustrating, it builds anticipation for what’s to come and paves the way for a second act love interest.

Overall:
This book was so good I read it twice and then read the rest of the series over a 48-hour period. The other books in the inter-connected world do not need to be read first as I am now starting the series Darkfell that started this world but Darkfell characters appear in this series.

This has got so much within this adventure that it's easy to get caught up with the number of fascinating characters, exactly what part they play in this very political yet confusing plan, and what will slowly be determined the further you get into the story.
Aisling has been away from her clan for over 7 years, in an effort to protect those she loved, and yet for similar reasons she ended up being dragged home to become someone's puppet who had devised a plan to gain power, never mind who they destroyed in the meantime.
Well as much as Aisling will bend over backwards to protect those who are important to her, she will also do what's necessary to protect those who are unaware how close the world is to becoming slaves for another evil king who is after total obedience and power over all who exist.
Aisling is unaware of the depth or levels involved with this deception, but she tries to help those who get caught in the cross fire pls those enemies who realise a huge mistake has been made, yet for anyone to achieve what they have planned in this political game of lives, Aisling is the central point and person to be controlled, is she strong enough to control what they want, is she strong enough to stay one step ahead, who knows, you need to read this amazing tale to understand the complexities involved including putting together the history of Aisling's ancestors and how many secrets they passed on to her without her knowledge.
The author L.A. McGinnis has truly written a magnificent tale that has so many twists and turns that sometimes you need to stop and think about who is who and why they are important along with the mystery that is continually popping up, is all the magic and passion found within this vampire story.
This is the start, a novella if you like to the adventure of "Darkfell Vampire Clan" series it's definitely one book that I highly recommend you grab, and get ready to indulge yourself in the first real book of the series, you certainly will not be disappointed.

**One of my Stuff your EReader 9/21/23 book haul**

OMG OMG OMG. This book is so good, I stole moments (and more) to read it while at work! The siren call was just too much and I needed to know what happens.

I honestly have not read books about vampires in a while and I thought I was over them but maybe I'm wrong because the way I devoured this book made me think I was starving!

We have Aisling (which is so weird to read because Google says it should be pronounced Ash-ling) who was found after running away seven years ago. There's of course a very good reason and protecting someone type of reason to why she did that. Her rejected mate Rowan is understandably angry and hurts her by parading another woman in front of her, his brother Finn is also mad because of what she did, but Darrow was the first to be kind to her and believed that there must've been a reason why she did what she did back when.

So yay, Darrow definitely deserved all her firsts for being her safe space after she got dragged back in to the hell she escaped from.

Her reason for leaving was soon revealed. It has something to do with her lineage and hidden power, etc. All the chaos going on in their world has her at its center and by the end of this book more things are revealed.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention Nikolai, the Elder vampire who found her and got her back to the castle, bound her and Rowan during a "mating" ceremony, and whose motives were hard to understand throughout most of the book but we finally find out during the epilogue written in his POV.

I can't wait to read the next book because this series is so promising but before all that plot, I found a bonus scene with Finn so I'll just go and enjoy that now.

L.A. McGinnis weaves a spellbinding tale in her novel “Blood Claimed: Shadowsend Vampire Clan”. Set against the backdrop of Ireland, this book introduces us to a world where vampires, intrigue, and forbidden love collide.

The story follows Aisling, a curvy heroine with a secret that could shatter her world. Seven years ago, she fled from her fate, leaving behind her mate, Rowan Forge, and her best friend. But destiny has other plans. The High Council of Vampires drags her back, forcing her to confront her past and the men she once loved.

What I Loved:
Enemies to Lovers Snark: The banter between Aisling and her vampire suitors—Rowan, Finn, and Darrow—is electric. Their chemistry crackles off the pages, leaving readers eagerly turning each one.

Forbidden Love: The tension between Aisling and Rowan is palpable. Their mating bond, once broken, now threatens to ignite anew. The stakes are high, and the passion even higher.

Intricate World-Building: McGinnis crafts a richly detailed world where vampire politics, ancient feuds, and hidden secrets intertwine. From the lush Irish landscapes to the opulent vampire courts, every setting feels vivid and immersive.

Complex Characters: Rowan, Finn, and Darrow are more than mere alpha males. They’re flawed, haunted, and utterly captivating. Aisling’s struggle to reconcile her desires with her duty adds depth to the narrative.

Plot Twists and Steamy Scenes: Brace yourself for unexpected turns and sizzling encounters. The plot keeps you guessing, and the romance leaves you breathless.

My Final Thoughts:
“Blood Claimed” is a must-read for fans of vampire romance. McGinnis delivers a tale of passion, loyalty, and sacrifice that will leave you craving more. Whether you’re a seasoned vampire aficionado or a newcomer to the genre, this book promises an enthralling journey into the shadows.

Prepare to be claimed by the allure of the Shadowsend Vampire Clan. 🦇❤️

Blood Claimed is a why choose vampire romance that is very heavy on political intrigue. Book one is really just the start of this story and while it doesn't end on a cliff hanger, literally nothing is resolved. That being said, I liked it a lot.

Things I liked:
-Aisling is a good FMC. She's vulnerable because of her situation but she's not an vulnerable person. Any rescuing that needed to happen is because bad people are taking super duper advantage of her.
-Nikolai is fire on the page for me. It's those quiet, kind of surly ones that just get it done and I can't wait to see where that relationship goes.
-The secrets! I love a book with a bunch of secrets that are revealed in a timely manner. They were introduced, we got to stew on them for a minute and then we all learned what was up. No endless secret keeping on the part of the author.

Things I didn't like as much:
-The rest boys are okay. I think that more character development is going to happen in later books. They weren't objectionable, just maybe a little cookie cutter and I am looking forward to them being more real in the way that Aisling is.

An FYI if you are new to this author, as I was, this universe actually starts with the Darkfell Vampires Clan series. Book one is called Night Marked. I definitely felt like I was missing a few things starting with the 3rd series in this universe. oops

A wonderful read the High Council Vampires, full of trepidation and anticipation
The High Council of Vampires have had her dragged back to her mate, she had rejected his brother who had absolutely despised her and had managed to turn every one she had ever cared of against her so that she had felt isolated and had decided the best thing to do was to go her own way.

She has been forced to be on tenta hooks for a very long time and this is because she knows that she is walking an extremely fine line, the enemies are closing on with a possible war between the two houses and with this deadly blood feud between the two houses are possibly going to play a dangerous game.

Her deepest and darkest secret is that she has a mate that she has kept his secret hidden from not just others but him as well and so when she tells him he will be totally surprised, however it may remain a secret she has to keep buried within her heart for as long as she lives.

I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

This book was nearing one of my favorite reads so far this year. The author did a wonderful job of building an urban fantasy book that did not use an abundance of pop culture references. This allowed me, as the reader, to relate to the characters while also engaging my imagination to picture this world in my mind.

The character development was fantastic, and each individual had their own unique personalities. While there were descriptions of the characters' appearance, I personally could have used a bit more.

While there was a decent amount of spice, my prior Why Choose and Erotica romance exposure put this in the midrange of Spice, however, others may rate it higher in the chili pepper spectrum. This being said, I think this book sets up a good baseline for the rest of the series.

I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down!!!

This was an amazing read that held my attention all the way through. There were some things I wasn't a big fan of, such as the whole Scarlett other woman business, that kind of stuff usually will turn me off reading a book completely. This book was so good even with that little bit I didn't like and I will be reading the next as well. Darrow was amazing right from the start, Finn was growing on me at the end, and Rowan I am not a fan of at the moment. Nicolai I'm liking at this moment and I cant wait to see where this goes. I absolutely love Ash, she is a strong woman who knows her own mind and what she wants. I liked the steamy scenes and thought they were well done. There are some parts that may make others squeamish if they dont like reading violence. This can be read as a stand alone from her other series, but read them all just because they are great. L.A. McGinnis is turning out to be one of my favorite authors. The world building and details put into this book and her others is absolutely amazing!!

** Cliffhanger Warning!** Oh my fangs! I love this book. This is a new series in the epic saga of vampire clans, so I highly recommend reading the others (Darkfell, Blackstone, and Immortal Secrets, a standalone) before sinking your teeth into this one. Like the other books, Blood Claimed is a medium to fast-burn, fantasy, reverse harem romance. There's plenty of fast-paced action, suspense, battles, steamy scenes, and an evil villain or three.

This book touches on the battle of good vs evil. Similar to the previous books, just when I thought I knew where things were going, I was surprised by a fabulous plot twist.

I also like how several romance tropes are turned on their heads (or necks?): second chance romance, fated mates, rejected mates, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, damsel in distress, and "oops, I didn't know I was a super magical supernatural" to name just a few.

Some of my favorite things: Aisling's makeover(s), cameos from previous books (Seraphina & her men), the secret library, the mating scar, and the family connection reveal.

I am eager to read the next book!

I was excited for a new series in this same world. I loved the Darkfell clan series and devoured the Blackstone clan.

I will say this book took me a little longer to get into. I think it was partially from expecting something similar, more familiar to Serafina's story. She gets her allies very early. Aisling is thrown back into her old life and it felt like it was her against the world - everyone had their own agenda and killing or using her was at the top of most lists. Aisling's life is more like what we hear Luther and Cyrus life thru before meeting Serafina. Not a picnic. Hints are dropped and the story begins to unravel itself. I enjoyed how it dovetailed with the end of Darkfell and Katarina's fallout.

Aisling has to endure so much. I could not be more surprised with how strong and determined she is. Definitely underestimated by the guys around her.

I am looking forward to reading the next book.

Barmaid with a big secret

Sidling, or Ash, as the White Raven's regulars know her, is a punky, spunky, sweetheart of a barmaid who cares for her regulars and loves her freedom. But the tatted-up, pierced exterior hides a monstrous truth: she's a vampire. When the clan she ran from, the vampire ruling council, and the vampire Elders all hunt her down simultaneously, her freedom is taken, she's returned to Shadowsend clan, and the king she refused to mate before she escaped. This amazing, mesmerizing story follows Ash as she is forced to re-enter a world she hates, confront the fears that have led her to hide, and learn the secrets others have hidden for her protection. Her metamorphosis from hostage to key player in this most deadly clan conflict is riveting. This magical, violent, sexy, power-mad, conflict-ridden world is as seductive as it is bloody. Bit by bit, the reader - like Ash herself - is pulled in, ensnared, and spellbound until the ending leaves them craving the next book like a vampire craves blood.

This is the second book from L.A. McGinnis that I've read, and she continues to amaze me with her incredible world building skills and character chemistry.

Rejected mates isn't normally in my wheelhouse but this one worked out!! I credit that to it being the perfect mix of vampires, rejected mate trope, along with hefty dose of magic/paranormal goodies. The world building was done masterfully; and paired with incredible storytelling this was an unforgettable book 1.

One of my top 5 tropes if of course the enemies to lovers trope, and I am so happy to report that it was done exceedingly well. I really liked that there was significant background on the characters and their relationships before this story takes place. I didn't feel like I was missing anything and in fact it makes the plot that much more in depth.

These men... My goodness. I can't even start to explain how much I love their chemistry all together. It's just something with vampires that gives it that extra level of spice, something that LA excels at. They of course had to play the enemies card, but it does not last for very long!! Thank goodness for that. We get some really spicy and intimate scenes, less than I would have liked but each swoon-worthy in their own way. I am truly excited for the rest of the series, not only for the continuation of the plot but also have a chance to watch these relationships grow.

I did finish this book but just finished.. I was at 50 56% and was about to call it as DNF. For me this was a slow start book and hard to get into, but I kept reading it. When I got to the part where Rowan finds out Ash's secret on why she left but then still treated her like he did at that dinner, then to sleep with another women that night knowing it would hurt Ash was almost my calling it quits. However, I'm glad I kept reading; the story picks up and then I was hooked. At times I still wanted to smack Roman on the back of his head and be like you know why she did what she did, get over it.. but at the same time I do understand him and why it hurt him so bad (its more then just his male pride). As for Finn and Dar... give me give me give me.. I want a Finn/Dar sandwich.. love love love them.. And I know there is more to Nick, I cant wait to find out what that might be. Again this is a slow start read, but keep with it and you will be hooked.

Reverse Harem PLUS vampires? count me in!!! all I can say is wow. This is the second book I have read by L.A Mcginnis and being the first book in this series, she absolutely blew me out of the water with this! Hot vampire hero’s, badass FMC, great storyline, spice… I mean what more can you ask for??

I finished this so fast I did not want to put it down even pausing at work to read more lol. I did learn I probably should have started with the Darkwell Vampire Clan Series first but oh well. We learn so much throughout this story & I have a feeling there is still so much more to learn. This truly is an epic story. All the feels you could want with Aisling and her men are here: their struggles, pain, happiness, fears and hopes.

I cannot wait to continue this story in the next book, Ruthless Liege.
