Carol Marinelli was born in England to Scottish parents, then emigrated to Australia, where there are loads of Scottish and English people who did exactly the same, so she’s very at home there.
She lives in the outer suburbs of Melbourne—pretty much in her car, driving her three children to their various commitments.
Carol writes for the Harlequin Presents and Medical lines and she also writes contemporary women's fiction (with a dark twist). When she's not writing she's reading, when she's not reading she's writing.
This book reads like a script for a low budget indie movie that can be shot in two or three locations. A hospital A&E dept, H and h's place and an occasional hangout spot. There really wasn't a whole lot of chemistry, most of their love comes from proximity. They literally grow on each other and that's pretty much it.
Cort is a registrar in Emergency and is encouraged to live a little by his sister after his wife's passing. Ruby just wants to survive her final weeks in Emergency for her nurses' training, which she absolutely hates. Cort and Ruby are attracted to each other and post shift outing have one night stand and possibly that adds some complication to their work, life and having to face their feelings.
