Charles Livingstone Allen (1913 – 2005) was an American ordained United Methodist minister.
He was the former pastor of First United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. The author of over 30 books, he was a featured columnist with the Atlanta Constitution from 1948 to 1960, and with the Houston Chronicle from 1960 to 1983.
I have been reading books on prayer this entire year as part of my quiet time, and this is the one I have found to be the least helpful. It was written in different political times and I found some of the statements chauvinistic. I'm giving my copy to the local library--not on my to read again list.
Even though this book was written in 1964, it is still spot on about prayer. I read the book slowly letting the words sink into my mind. My aunt had the book and I am thankful that I was able to read it.
