After serving as the Chef d'État-Major des Armées for the French Military, Pierre Ducard is riding a wave of momentum towards the French presidency. With the election a few weeks away, the president in waiting heads to the UK on a publicity mission with only one cloud hanging over his head.
Twelve years ago, two French diplomats were kidnapped in Peru and then executed in the Amazon Rainforest. Olivier Chavet, the son of one of the deceased, is adamant that not only did Ducard not do enough to save them, but that he ordered their deaths himself. When Chavet goes live on a UK news channel in response to Ducard's visit, he puts himself in the firing line.
He also draws the attention of the only survivor from that Sam Pope.
With the deaths of his three comrades still weighing on his conscience, Sam faces a race against time and the full might of Ducard's private security to finally discover the truth of what truly happened, and why he and his team were sent to die.

I hate when I finish a good book like this. I savour like an excellent full bodied wine and the aftertaste is just as good as the first sip. Robert Enright’s character Sam Pope is all encompassing and I hope film rights and a TV series will follow and well deserved. The ending is a huge tease and I can’t wait for the next in the series.
Listening to the news his attention was drawn to an interview which he thought was connected to Wallace where three of his colleagues had been killed and he wanted to know more. Sam went into action as he knew the man who had given the details about his father who was a diplomat he was also with another man had been assassinated, he claims were true, he knew this because he was there. Excellent book with a great ending.
So Sam Pope one again prevails against all the odds and his own crass stupidity. This time he escapes capture by shooting and killing a total of six armed villains, then checks his gun and finds he’s out of bullets, so what does he do 🤔. He does what any smart hero would do, he walks past said six villains and ignores every single one of the guns that they have, and marches forward into a fist fight with head villains powerful sidekick, why not for once just pick up any one of the spare guns and shoot the man in the face? This series of books are undoubtedly exciting whilst at the same time being littered with stupidity like that, and of course he prevails once again, there’s more books in the series 😂
another great book by Robert in the Sam Pope series
I really enjoy the Sam Pope series. Like all series that you like, the author takes a lot of time to create but you the book very quickly. Then you wait and hope they will write another one.
I was not disappointed with this book, I just could not put it down.
I have read all the Sam Pope books and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. I am fond of Sam and his determination to do the right thing. He will always do his best to protect, no matter the personal cost. My heart is in my mouth, hoping that Sam will survive and the baddies will pay the price.
I have awarded a well deserved 5 stars to each and every one of the Sam Pope books. I have never been disappointed and this book was no exception. Lots of action and I really like how it connects with the earlier books in the series. I am very much looking forward to the next book. A big thank you to the author Robert Enright. Another 5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another great Sam Pope novel as he is working to find out the truth about his mission in the Amazon where the other 3 members of his team were killed. He is going against the odds on favorite to be the next French president. Between the president to be henchmen the French inteligance service and the British police the fights get intense. Great action packed fast paced great reading
Another excellent chapter in the life of our Anti hero Sam Pope, taking us back to old memories then forward to the present. More blood cuddling violence unleashed not only by him but on him! New characters and old, make this another page turner of the highest degree.
Sam is in deep pain and will do anything to avenge his colleagues deaths. Impossible scenarios and foreign interests make it difficult for him to do the right thing. An excellent book.
Sam is so often underestimated by those who think they have the drop on him, by surprise or numbers. He shows the folly of that thinking, making another ally in law enforcement.
I wouldn't bet against him as friends from the past appear.
Interesting story line video wasn't disappointed but left me feeling sad. Sam doesn't seem to get a break in his life. he has all the good intentions just fall his way. Image next story could improve v that for him.
Although a bit repetitive at time I appreciate that some readers have not read the full series from book 1. Despite this the twists and turns of each plot still catches you out with the unexpected. Another good read and so on to book12
Really enjoyed reading the book. Sometimes a little far fetched with the number of blows this guy takes but very enjoyable to immerse yourself in the Sam Pope world. Enjoy!
Didn't know how or what the plot would be for this next book. An surprising and intriguing plot stretching back their into Sam's past. Great story line with lot's of action. A great ending leading into the next book and looking forward to it.
This book was exciting. OI love a good mystery with lots of violence. Everyone should read the Sam pope serirs . I am so glad there is a 12 on the way in July.
I have been reading all sorts of books from Jack Reacher to Ryan Kaine and to be honest the Sam Pope books have been very very good hopefully more to come.
Quite the thrill ride - a lot of twists and turns. Definitely a page turner. And the ending? Now I definitely have to read that to see what Sam decides.
Sam Pope is a great hero and as usual I enjoyed reading this latest episode. However I found the large number of grammatical errors, spelling mistakes an irritating distraction.
