Pregnant women are disappearing in the capital region. The mother of one of the missing women hires private investigator Leah Ryan and partner Jackson Quick to find her daughter.

A simple missing persons case turns into a nightmare as the list of suspects grows. Alexia's unfaithful husband, a cult leader who impregnates his female followers, and a shady network of adoption agencies involved in a black market baby scheme.

Taking this case leads Jackson and Leah into a labyrinth of mystery and murder.

This is the third book in the Leah Ryan series. Leah also appears in the short novel Jacked Up, which also features Lieutenant Jack Daniels, written in collaboration with J.A Konrath.

Author Note: Thanks so much for reading. I've updated the book, and taken out a lot of the extraneous sex. If you've got an older version and you didn't receive the update on your kindle, email me. I'd be happy to send you the new version.

This is the second installment of the Leah Ryan series, in this story full of plot twists, those who are shunned by society are the ones with honesty and true hearts while the productive members hush their deep dark secrets with money and influence.

Leah gets suckered into looking for Chloe, a junkie stripper who turns out to be a judge's daughter. Because of her colorful past, Leah has a propensity to do everything to help people in trouble, especially those who are not worthy of help for the authorities. Even though Leah unknowingly begins her investigation with lies, she digs and digs until she finds the truth.

In the meantime, the relationship with Callahan that began in the first book of the series, plus a new budding romance, suffers as she puts her life and the life of those around her in danger as she looks for Chloe.

Great story that will have you guessing at how it will all turn out, with the right amount of romance and lots of action. Now off to continue with the third book in the series: Dirty Business.

Good book!! Leah, the main character, seems to love a challenge no matter what could possibly happen. She's asked to find a girl, a stripper, and goes all out to do so. Bad guys warn her to stop but she doesn't back down. Leah ends up in the hospital a few times but still won't give up.

The twists and turns keep you on your toes and I love that in a book. You think you know who did something and why and then bam, your wrong and it's completely different.

I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to the next book.

Finding Chloe, Leah Ryan Thrillers, Book 2
by Tracy Sharp

Once again, Sharp delivers a slam-bam, thank ya Maam, action-filled thriller. Interesting characters (and, yes, my favorite is Buddy), great plotting and pacing. Leah's romance angst gets old fast. Editing good; proofreading a little off. Just two errors, but they were obvious -- after all, I saw them and proofreading is not my forte. I read this in a 3-book compilation, so I won't use the kindle locations. In the 5th sentence of paragraph 2 of Chapter Nine, you find this with a missing word: "I could put up with the wide array characters, most of dubious repute,..." And 3 kindle ages from the end of the novel, this incorrect tense: "He did clearly loved her, and I really did wish her the best." Sigh. 3 pages from the end. Rule one of any speech, writing, film, peformance -- start and end strong.

In any event, this episode has Leah still somewhat estranged from Callahan, her off again/on again lover. She's been approached by a seedy young man asking for her help in locating a missing woman. She worked at a local strip club and has just seemed to disappear. The search for her not only lands her in the crosshairs of a killer, but puts her friends, and her new reporter contact and his daughter in the crosshairs too. Even Buddy, the rotweiler, isn't safe. Can she solve this socio-sexual-political riddle before harm comes to herself and everyone she knows?

It was a quick and interesting read. Certainly not for those who do not have the stomach for gore.

Please Note: I read and reviewed this book in September 2011 from a copy I won in a giveaway. All opinions are my own.

About the Book: Leah Ryan is back in book 2 of the Leah Ryan Mysteries series. She is approached by a young man who says he is searching for his girlfriend, Chloe – Chloe was a stripper and has disappeared and he says the cops aren’t looking for her very hard as a result. He is afraid she might be dead, or worse. Leah, of course, can’t resist a challenge, so sets out to start investigating, although the thought that she is going into danger again causes Callahan to break things off with her. She turns to her old friend Jack, who helps in her investigations. However, almost right away, the threats start. Someone doesn’t want Chloe found, and they’re willing to kill to keep their secrets.

My Thoughts: This book has even faster action and more adrenaline than the first book; I didn’t think it was possible. Leah keeps moving forward at lightning speed, despite everything that is thrown at her to try to stop her. I didn’t notice any plot holes in this book, but there were a few more typos and missing words. It was still remarkably clean compared to a lot of other books out on the market today. Tracy Sharp has created some really compelling characters and I’m enjoying these books immensely. Book 3, “Dirty Business,” is next on my list to read. Highly recommended!

I ENJOYED THE TWIST AND TURNS OF THE STORY AND THE FUNNY THINGS SOME OF THE CHARACTERS SAID. THIS HAD MY TRYING TO FIQURE OUT JUST WHAT/WHO WAS HAPPENING UP TO THE VERY END, I STILL WONDER. I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER LEAH, SHE IS TRULY A DIE HEART, ONCE SHE GETS STARTED ON SOMETHING. SHE ACTS WITHIOUT THINKING MOST OF THE TIME AND THE RESULTS OF HER ACTIONS HURT PEOPLE. I MEAN WHAT DID SHE THINK WAS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU WALK UP TO A HORNET'S NEST AND WHACK IT WITH THE BIGGEST STICK YOU COULD FIND. OF COURSE YOU AND ANYONE AROUND WILL GET STUNG, HER DISREGARD FOR OTHERS TURNED ME COMPLETELY OFF ON HER CHARACTER. ;<

In this second book Leah Ryan is back with a little less action but with the same high adrenalin force that pumps through your veins while reading. She is entangled in a mytery and shows that she is a woman with more than just beauty and brawn. You see a softer side to her and get to know her a little better. Fantasic character that will have you coming back for more in the third book.

Interesting story

Nice story and a fast read. Main character, Leah, is believable but I don't know if I can say I liked her, a little too snarky and snotty for my taste. Overall, it was a decent story.
