Drunk college coeds don’t always make the best decisions, but Freddie never expected her stumble to the bathroom at a music festival would land her in space. It’s not a laughing matter. Getting drunk and peeing in the wrong place. It happens to others. Right? It’s not so bad, though, at least not for Freddie, because the massive, horned, sexy, iridescent-blue loner alien, whose ship she got transferred into accidentally, is not so bad. The problem is, however, that once she ended up in space, there was no way for her to get back to Earth. As an alien, going to Earth violates intergalactic laws, so most aliens refuse to break them. Just because Aevo won’t go to Earth, doesn’t mean other aliens can’t, however. She did stumble into a parked spacecraft, after all. There are some who visit Earth regularly, although it’s illegal, because what they are doing with the humans they steal is worth the risk for them. The intergalactic flesh trade. While other human women are held in cages, Freddie wakes up free, and decides she wants to put an end to the flesh trade altogether. If she and Aevo can find help to do it. When slavers find out Freddie is with Aevo, will she remain free to live and love as she pleases, or will she end up in cages just like the other women? This book is for 17 and over due to graphic sexual content.
Not a typical book I’d go for based on the title and cover but let me tell you…..it was so good and super spicy too! I can not wait for book 2 to see what happens with her pregnancy!
Free book on kindle, thought I’d dip my toe into “alien romance”?? Eek, found a new ick I never thought I’d have, and it wasn’t what I’d expect. “My mate” was the term of affection used over and over and it made me grimace each time I read it. The characters were under developed and the plot was weak. It was sweet in parts but overall not for me.
Freddie goes out partying with her friends but drinks too much and stumbles onto an alien ship where she finds a container to fall asleep in. But when she wakes up she realizes that the ship she's on is moving and she can hear others crying. She tries to listen to see if she can understand what they saying but it's alien to her. So she stays inside her container since the aliens don't know she's there. When her container gets moved onto another ship, she finally comes out and comes face to face with Aevo who's ship she's on. Aevo is a big, grumpy, blue alien with horns. Aevo sends Mechi, his robot assistant to help get her settled in a guest room.
After a while Aevo starts to get used to Freddie and feels bad for her because she can never go back to Earth, back to her family and people. But he lets her know that there are sanctuary planets where some other humans are that he can take her too if she wants. But then he does something that even surprises him, he tells her she can stay on the ship with him if she wants that too.
But Freddie is worried about the other females that were on the first ship she was on when she finds out they're probably being sold as slaves. So Aevo who is opposed to the slave trade as well, enlists the help of some friends to rescue the other females. While all this is going on, Aevo and Freddie realize that they have feelings for each other and want to stay together.
Aero and Freddie are a couple formed by happenstance when she hides in cargo on a ship she wandered on to. I expected the story to be more emotional or possibly taking a more amusing tone based on the summary, but it's strangely not either. Their existence is relatively peaceful compared to most alien romances I've read, at least until they seek to help free other human abductees. For the most part, the story is a simple love story of an alien choosing to protect a human he stumbles across and how their relationship grows as they spend time together. There's a very organic growth to it and it's a very sweet and wholesome story. While there is conflict and drama to a degree, it is more towards the end and leads to more of a climax of the story rather than being a main event. I think this is one of the sweetest alien romances I've ever read, and that's a compliment I didn't anticipate giving going in. Aevo is a perfect space gentleman and Freddie is somehow both incredibly sweet and badass at the same time. This love story is well worth a read and I can see myself reading future books and even rereading this one.
I enjoy reading all genres and sci-fi romance is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I found this first book to the series lacking. The dialogue between the main characters were too over the top sweet or needy. I found Freddie to be a very codependent needy insecure person. There is nothing attractive about that in a person regardless of gender. The male, Aevo, I can use the term "alien" to justify his over the top need to protect and love behavior, sort of.
Aside from the characters, there weren't any action. There's one scene in over 200 pages. Don't get me wrong, I don't need nonstop action and drama but a few mixed in throughout the book would be nice.
All things said, I guess that's why I couldn't get into the book. It took me several days to finish reading this one and I can read a couple 200 plus pages book a day when it's good. I couldn't relate or connect with the characters making it hard to like them or enjoy their story. The storyline itself was a good one.
I have never read an alien smut book before and I am so happy I did. You have Freddie a human female and Aevo an Omnosian alien male. Of course you can’t forget Mechi, Aevo’s robot! It starts with Freddie wandering into an aliens space craft in a drunken attempt to find a bathroom. She ended up hiding in a crate and ending up on Aevo’s ship and the rest is history! She learns while on the ship that if anyone else would have found her she would have ended up in the human female slave trade. This had set Freddie and her and Aevo made a vow to save as many human females as they possibly could. While being stuck on a space ship of course they ended up falling for one another! I don’t want to give any spoilers so that’s all I will say. If you are looking for a fast pace story about an alien and human, pull up a chair and start reading. You won’t regret it. Wish Goodreads did half stars because it’s a 4.5 rating. Haha
I didn't like the heroine. She gets drunk, and somehow ends up on a spaceship as a stowaway. The hero finds her and is horrified. Humans are from a forbidden planet. He has no idea what to do with her. He assigns her a room and asks the AI robot to take care of her.
So what does the heroine do? Get drunk again on strange spaceship with a stranger. She asks the AI for food. He explains most of the food is the vegetable mush but the captain's favorite is meat and they have a little bit left, but the meat is hard to get.
So what does the heroine do? She eats the captain's favorite food, knowing he can't get any more, because she has eaten vegetable mush once and decides she wants better food.
The heroine is not likeable and I stopped reading at this point.
This is my first time reading any works by C.A. Varian, and it certainly won't be the last. In this story we follow Aevo, an alien who finds Freddie, a human in his cargo. This book has everything; forced proximity, alien kidnapping, action packed space fighting and super spicy romance. I truly enjoyed this book. I read it in one sitting. It's that good! I highly recommend this book. Just a note that does end in a bit of a cliffhanger. I can't wait to read the second book to follow what is yet to come for Freddie and Aevo.
My Alien Protector by C.A Varian is book one in My Alien Mate. I’ve read this author before so I was already pretty familiar with the writing style. This book was a treat to read, I really enjoyed the storyline. The writing was phenomenal and the plot/flow was really good. I read this book cover to cover, my kindle didn’t leave my hands until the very last line. I will say check your trigger warnings to be on the safe side. This book has some great tropes including forced proximity, spicy scenes, aliens, kidnapping and epic space battles. (What more could you ask for?) I really like the characters of Aevo and Freddie, they were written extremely well and had such depth to them. It was interesting reading about the “intergalactic flesh trade”. It’s a pretty cool concept. (I suggest you read the book because there are no spoilers from me.) I can’t wait for the next book to come out. I highly recommend it!
This book contained a very innovative premise, one that I have never read before. It engaged me immediately. And to get the attention of her unbeknownst captor: Who knew that the threat of urine could be such a motivator? However, the rest of the book was too short, consisting of two parts: Getting to know each other and being aggressed. I did appreciate the author allowing the female to enter into the fray on behalf of her mate.
DNF - quit at 7% The FMC is horrible, nothing about her spoke to me or made me care, no way I’m going to keep reading about her & her self absorbed mentality. Deleting from my Kindle Library.
At my age (61), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.
What a sweet and cute romance. I enjoyed the interactions between the MMC and his tiny human and the robot with the clothes fetish was hilarious. There was enough action to keep it interesting but that last battle on Lothar’s station could have been a little longer or not as quickly ended in my opinion. All in all I enjoyed the read.
I did not finish because I did not care what happened to anybody on any of the remaining pages. Character development is very shallow. Second book in a row I’ve seen that tried to rip off the “human with 7 foot tall blue alien” magic of another wildly popular author. It takes more than blue skin and big junk. The highlight of the book was the android that dresses in drag.
The was an easy read and enjoyable. It set the stage for a pretty good series. I think there could have been more detail, but it can hold its own in ailen love stories and it has a happy ending. That’s enough.
If you ever had one of those nights, where one too many wound you up in the wrong end of the boat this tale is for you. Sweet romance, nice amount of steam and alien adventures all in one.
This was an interesting story. The characters are believable. I did think the relationship of the H/H moved too fast. I enjoyed the adventure on the friend's space station. Good read!
I liked it. It's kind of a fast burn sort of romance but it was sweet and got me super interested in more of the men introduced in the story I really hope I get to see more updates to this series.
This is such a fun non-serious romance. What's better than aliens and smut? College girl gets drunk and ends up in outer space praying to not be a sex slave. It's a great easy read and a perfect palate cleanser for in between the dark romances I normally read.
This book had a lot of twist and turns it was really good The world development the page turning descriptions were absolutely brilliant. The author CA Varian is a very good story teller. You kept me on the edge of my chair!!!
I really didn't enjoy the female lead in this story. She didn't act in a believable or relatable way in my opinion. I gave up with about 20% left in the book.
