When his father crossed a powerful Mexican drug cartel, Keith Lewis lost everything—his identity, his way of life, and the freedom to live in the open. With a new name, Keith is now in witness protection, and his handler has brought him to the last place on Earth anyone would ever look for a cattle ranch in Montana. What Keith didn’t expect to find there was a handsome, tempting former Navy SEAL.

Tanner Bruenig retired to the Montana countryside to try his hand at ranching and savor the peace of hard work and few neighbors. When you’re former military and your cousin’s in the Marshals Service, however, it’s easy enough to get roped into providing a safe haven once in a while. Keith isn’t the first witness to shelter in Tanner’s house or to join him in his bed. But he may be the first one Tanner wants to keep there...

You might already be acquainted with us in our individual guises of Philippa Grey-Gerou (India) and Emery Sanborne (Harper). We have been writing together for about five years, two of those professionally, and finally decided that since we share a brain, sharing a name only makes sense. As our co-written stories tend to be a little darker and have a slightly harder edge than our solo words, the separate identity comes in handy. The fact that we don’t have to worry about who gets top billing doesn’t hurt either. Plus, no confusion on where to shelve us! Our stories under the name India Harper have a slightly harder edge as we explore predominately male/male relationships in the rich environments of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Emery lives in Philadelphia with her cat, while Grey lives in the Philadelphia suburbs with a less well behaved zoo.

The setup for the plot left me thinking this one could be pretty tense with lots of conflict, but it really only scratched the surface of what could have been. Instead, it was a story about two decent guys thrown together under the umbrella of a difficult situation, a small town with pretty tolerant and quirky people, and a horse with a crush who becomes a hero. The ending was a bit abrupt and left me wishing for a little bit more, but all in, I enjoyed this story.

I'm have mixed feelings about this story. For starters this plot was easy, predictable and boring. Both Keith and Tanner acted as bland as a paper. I have to say this plotted story could have been better if we at least felt some attraction between Keith and Tanner. But no, more or less I got the feeling as if they would have sex just because it was convenient for both of them. Both were alone at the farm and to lonely to actually get together because they felt attracted to each other.
But maybe I'm just to critical on the plot.

I enjoyed this book, although I did find the plot a little predictable. Keith and Tanner's relationship was thin and lacking in the richness and fullness of what I expected. This book is a quick little read for a lazy afternoon. If you are expecting a read full of danger, high drama and hot romance, sadly this is not it.

I liked it:)
Yes, there was no conflict, it was fairly easy going, but I was in the mood for exactly that. Why not 5 stars? Well, it was a bit short.Generally I really like the writing by these authors.

It was good, but I think maybe it needed to be longer. The upcoming conflict was too obvious for too long and then the resolution was too quick.

A staightforward easy read with likeable characters, no major action, no major love, just a quick read...with an adorable horse.

Pretty much an angst and conflict free story. The resolution was pretty quick and easy, but then sometime a book can be quick and easy, I wanted a light read and this was one.

A very easy read, maybe a little predictable, but that didn't harm the story at all.

Very good short story, somewhat predictable, but still ok.
