Lady Blue Crew #3

Imlay's Cure

Rate this book
Dr. Imlay Jones has never understood what all the excitement is around sex. It is dirty, sweaty, and, most times, just plain boring. He prefers his test tubes and medical bay. But when Livewire leaves to go on a mission, Imlay suddenly realizes he doesn't want the man out of his sight. There's something about the crazy mechanic that draws Imlay like a flame. When Livewire doesn't return, Imlay is beside himself. When it's discovered that Livewire is being held hostage, Imlay insists on going on the rescue mission to retrieve his missing mate. But rescuing Livewire doesn't stop once they get him back onboard the Lady Blue. Livewire can't stand to be touched, trusts no one, and has constant nightmares about his capture. Only Imlay's gentle touch can calm the man. Can Imlay overcome his aversion to sex in order to bring his mate back to the land of the living, or will he lose Livewire forever to the memories that haunt him?

About Me
I believes the only thing sexier than a man in cowboy boots is two, or three men in cowboy boots. I also believes in love at first sight, soul mates, true love, and happy endings.

When I'm not being a mother to my six teenagers or cleaning up after my two 70 pound lap puppies, you can usually find me cuddled in bed with a book in my hand and a puppy in my lap. Or on my laptop, creating the next sexy man for one of my stories.

This third volume of the series returns the focus to the overall series storyline, adding some harrowing events and interesting revelations about the reasons why the crew has a bounty on its collective head. All of this while still managing to tell the story of Livewire, the engineer, and Imlay, the somewhat standoffish doctor. The tone here is a lot more serious than in the first two books, but that goes with the story; the humor isn’t lost, either. It comes back in the form of Gigi and Pax lightening the mood at just the right moments, before anyone can end up feeling glum.

Imlay was a bit of an enigma in the last book, and I had trouble understanding him. That totally changes in this book, as he comes out of his shell. Not just because half the story is told from his point of view, and we simply get to know him better, but also because he truly opens up and develops as a character. Having to see his mate go through what Livewire has to endure and being able to help him is a big part of his growth. Natural curiosity does the rest.

Livewire not only goes through some major suffering, he also reveals some secrets about his shifter nature. I admired his resilience, and even though it takes him a long time to heal, he never gives up. Admittedly, as an alpha male it would be difficult to do so, but the increasing feelings he develops for Imlay are really what pulls him back from the brink.

I really liked how Imlay and Livewire, two wounded souls who both have issues with being touched, work through their problems. They manage to form a very close partnership and I loved that Imlay wasn’t a weaker partner, even ends up going on a dangerous mission that helps them all come a step closer to solving the riddle of their persecution. If you like futuristic adventure stories that take place aboard space ships that seem in constant need of repair and if hot man-on-shifter action is what you’re looking for, you may like this book.

The "Lady Blue Crew" books are like crack for me. I know they are bad - but I am totally addicted. They are easy to read and fairly predictable. Typical Lynn Hagen/Stormy Glenn kinda stuff.

But since you are reading my review I will lay it out like this...
I found myself thinking that I liked these books like I liked the "Brac Pack" series of books by Hagen. In fact, it was kinda like half of the Brac Pack (and their mates) got transported aboard a space ship. The characters and their dynamics were very similar.

Seriously, they are so much alike in ways it's almost funny. But I did enjoy reading them and I found myself hopelessly addicted to this series the way I was to the BP series. I loved Maverick Brac and his band of slutty shifters and I also loved Remington Vystal and his spaceship of slutty shifters!!

It's like crack I say and Siren Publishing is my dealer!

This must be my least favourite in this series. I really like this author but just not this story. Not sure why because i have enjoyed the other books so far. I will read the other books in this series though.

Не люблю я пытки и всякие мучения, неужели авторам больше не о чем писать, потому что последнее время или бывший, избивающий гг-я или пытки. Надоели эти муки уже.

I do really love this series, however, I didn't enjoy the first half of this story due to the torture and suffering (also don't like characters that are maimed in any way) of Livewire, the mechanic. His quirky personality was tortured out of him and I found it difficult to read. The second half of the book, however, was beautiful since Livewire and his mate, Imlay (doctor) healed together(they were perfect for each other) and laughter was once again brought to the story. I just adore the characters so much that I don't want them to ever be hurt. The ship has a bounty on its head so there's no safety wherever they go. Great writing and imaginative series.

When I used to read Siren published books they seemed to have alot of sex in them.
Whilst there was some sex in this book there was a story behind the relationship as well.
I loved that alot of the other crew members were featured as well and I am going to have to continue on with the series as there was a bit of a cliffhanger at the end.

Gods, this 3rd book was dark....well at least until the 70% then it was a sex feast...

Poor Livewire was tortured for a week and badly hurt, and all this bcs he had decided to stay away far from his mate, the doctor, that seemed to not really want him...

How wrong he was... Imlay did all he could to get his mate back, when he found out that he was leaving and then when he was captured, and in the end only their mating was really able to bring Livewire back as his true self, and heal his wounds.

In this book we also met Adwaka, Blade's mate, and Zachary, Tank's mate, and while the first was a captive with Livewire, and is a bit too shy and still scared, the other is a carefree nerd, that likes to make ppl smile(and is Livewire's cousin).

I liked to see the doctor finally take out his as* that stick, and enjoy his sex life, something completely new for him.

Said this, I still have many questions....So Remy is the nephew of the King, they all are outlaws bcs someone hungry for power wanted Remy gone to become the lead of the Special Forces, and Imlay has strange healings powers, that seem so poweful to heal almost the impossible...Pax sees auras, we don't know how or why, Gigi has some kind of strange power able to change the evets, and much more I'm forgetting about now...AND STILL NO EXPLANATIONS... jeeez.

I was looking forward to this story because Livewire kind of hooked me in the previous stories. There was just something about him.

Livewire is a little "off", according to the crew. He says strange things, talks to the ship and even sings to her. But no one can dispute that the Lady Blue has never run as well before the mechanic joined their crew.

Dr. Imlay Jones is onboard to escort medical supplies being delivered. Imlay doesn't understand the crew and their fascination with sex and lust. Imlay tried it and he didn't like it. It was messy, dirty and he figures he is not missing out on too much! But when Livewire is taken hostage by Elite Forces, Imlay knows he has to rescue the man who has intrigued him in so many ways. Rescuing Livewire is the easy part; healing him will be difficult.

Imagine my surprise when a big secret of Livewire's is revealed. It was completely unexpected and made the story more interesting. Not only that, but it turns out Imlay has a little secret of his own, adding to the intrigue.

The Lady Blue Crew is now on the hunt for the rogue Elite Forces that are setting them up and our guys aren't about to lose this fight!

An entertaining read that's much darker than the first two releases in the series. The story is well thought-out, Livewire's reactions to what happened to him are expressed well, and his relationship to Imlay is deep and emotional.

I loved seeing Livewire come out of the dark hole the brutalization left him in and open himself to his mate. And taking care of and protecting Imlay is just what he needed. I really enjoyed the twist where we got to see his animal come out and play, and I hope to see more of this rare creature in the future.

Of course the other crew members are always about and there's a new addition this time, Livewire's cousin Zackary...a computer whiz. And I almost forget Adwaka, who was rescued with him. I can't wait to see what these talented authors have happening next.

I have been looking forward to this book because Livewire is such a funny character and the Doc is so straight laces I new it was doing to be a good one and boy was it. The growth of the Doc is really something to see, it is so well written that is feels right and you don't question the 180 he does in regards to his interactions with the crew. When Livewire come back all you want to do is cry but you cant because then you wouldn't be able to read what happens next and you really want to know!!

This was a nice addition to the series. The relationship between Imlay and Livewire was sweet and they ended up being a well-matched couple. I did feel that their relationship wasn't necessarily the main focus of the book. Instead this one seemed to be about setting up events for further on in the series.

This was enjoyable enough. I liked Livewire and I liked that Imlay was able to realize he had initially made a mistake pushing Livewire away. The secondary characters are entertaining and the over arching story of the Lady Blue team seems fun. I’m not sure I’ll read more of this but it was entertaining

Loving this series more and more. I was sooo into this one, loving it until the healing scene. The mate just happen to have what can heal them. Just so cliche I think. Notice who ever stays on lady blue turns out to be mates for a crew member. 4.5 love it

Okay, things got really heavy in this one. I hated that it happened to Livewire - he is such a character. I liked that Imlay finally stepped up to the plate though. I still haven't figured out what it is Livewire shifts into, but I am sure I will figure it out by the end of the series!

The crew is growing all the time. Imlay and Livewire were an interesting couple. I think the plot could have been deeper but as it stands this was a good book. I do love my "feel-good" reads:)

3.5 Stars - I liked this much more than the previous books. Imlay was strong character, as was Livewire. No weak and vulnerable mates here.
