Loss has scarred my life. I’ve trained relentlessly, endured unimaginable pain for one goal—to face the beast who watched me, who came for me. But took my family instead.
There’s nothing I won’t do for vengeance.
Until three sinful and unhinged monsters find me, emerging from the shadows with sharp teeth, and with claws that could pull apart my life as easily as they do the buttons on my dress.
They think they can break me... Absurd.
Yet I’m caught in their twisted war in a world in ruins and fraying at the edges. They won’t leave me alone, insisting I belong to them. That they’ll make me irrevocably theirs.
Resisting the fantasies they promise grows harder with every passing day, and it scares me how easily I’ve started thinking of them as my own monsters.
But I remind myself I obey no one. Especially when I’m starting to suspect that they had a hand to play in my family’s death.
They aren’t the first monsters I’ve faced. They’ll most certainly be the last…
Author’s Note: Mark Me is a steamy, shifter romance with darker themes, enemies to lovers tension, three possessive and cocky aIphahoIes, a tough and sassy heroine who refuses to choose just one man. Dive in and enjoy this standalone book.
Mila Young tackles everything with the zeal and bravado of the fairytale heroes she grew up reading about. She slays monsters, real and imaginary, like there's no tomorrow. By day she rocks a keyboard as a marketing extraordinaire. At night she battles with her mighty pen-sword, creating fairytale retellings, and sexy ever after tales.
The heroine walks in on one of the MMCs sleeping with another woman during their first meeting… He is her fated mate and he doesn’t even appear to be ashamed of it either😠 What an absolute waste of time.
This was quite an adventure and lemme just say how the family issues are resolved is so satisfying 👌🏻. Billie really was a boss babe. I love when the FMCs are shifters, it proves they can be just as strong and ferocious as the males.
The spice was SPICIN’ 🥵. Mila Young writes some sensual scenes for sure. Even though I didn’t feel too much toward the men, those smut scenes actually got me caring about them. Mainly because I was able to see their love and devotion to Billie through their passion. Even when it was hateful 😏.
After reading several cliffhangers I’m happy to say this is a stand-alone with a HEA and epilogue yay! I’m happy. This book really just lets you fall away from irl problems and be entertained.
I have read several good books from this author, but this book absolutely stunk. The FMC was portrayed in the beginning as a wolf shifter with magic and swords who’s been taking martial arts and weapons training. But when the danger came around, she never shifted she barely was able to use the swords. She didn’t use anything else no real fighting skills. What’s the point of being a wolf shifter if you’re never going to shift into a wolf not even once, even when you’re trying to run on your flimsy human feet away from a raging beast in the woods lol also, there is no sex until the very very end of the book which is super disappointing, and the whole reason she went there to begin with was to get an audience with the Dukes and ask them a question, and when she is handed that opportunity on a fated mate SilverPlatter all of a sudden she can’t ask them the question anymore? And everything hinges on finding out who killed her parents but somehow she can’t be with her fated mates, even though they already told her it wasn’t them. It makes no sense. She’s also super fond of asking someone a question and they will give her the answer and then a couple of pages later she’s asking the question in her head again like nobody gave her the answer also, for being a wolf shifter, she seems to know nothing about predators, prey or scents or heats or how other predators behave lol like it’s all so new to her or something. I only finished it to see who killed her parents.
A whole lot of "he admired her strength" when she literally did nothing. Their inconsistent personalities were like whiplash, and the gushing dialog was a bit cringey.
Totally lost me when Billie suddenly decided to call Khaos "Daddy". Yikes.
Although I rated this 3 stars, it was a great story. It never felt boring and the action was constant enough that it didn't feel overwhelming. What made me deduct 2 stars is the fact in an over 400 page book, there was ONE sex scene at the end of the book. You create a demon with two dicks, and only give ONE scene with it? There are some sprinkled scenes where the three of them get her off separately, but nothing more than that. I feel robbed.
This story also felt rushed, like it could've at least been spread out between two books instead of one. Sometimes it felt like a lot of information at one time and some additional POVs would've helped curve the story a bit more.
SPOILER AFTER THIS
And all the epilogue did was reveal she was pregnant with twins. Nothing about her friend back in South Africa. It just felt like the story ended really abruptly and could've included a "send-off" of her parents besides her killing her real father in their name. Or maybe more information on Tallis because it felt like his backstory was the least explored. I don't know. This story was really good but it just felt like making it a standalone was robbing it of its potential to be a great series itself.
Oh, and the scene with Khaos? Where they randomly started calling him Daddy? Literally cringed because it just felt so out of place. I get what she was going for but it felt more like a joke of a scene than anything actually appealing and sexual.
I received a copy of this book from the author through Books and Bitches Downunder in exchange for an honest review.
Actual rating of 4.75
Billie has trained relentlessly for years, determined to be strong enough to take down the person responsible for taking her family away from her in a traumatic event that still haunts her to this day. She's been on her own, unable to contact any remaining family due to her mother's parting words warning her against it. After coming across some information that could possibly lead her to the very person responsible for her misery, Billie heads off to see what else she can uncover. What she doesn't expect, is to run into the Dukes. The three brother's who rule over the kingdom she's attempting to infiltrate. She also doesn't expect them to be able to affect her the way that they do. They're determined to prove to her that she is theirs, that they are hers, she'll fight to prove them wrong, but will she succeed?
Fantasy was the genre that got me back into reading when I was 18, so it will always hold a special place in my heart and be one of my favourite genres. I haven't read a lot of it in the last 12 months though, I've become very selective with it for some reason, so I'm choosing my fantasy reads carefully. When I read the synopsis for this one, I request INSTANTLY. And I mean instantly. I got the email, read the blurb, and had the book on my kindle within 3 minutes. I don't know what it was about the story that made me need to read it, but man did it deliver.
The story is told through alternating POVs. Mostly Billie's, but the duke's also have their own POVs that pop in as well. I liked Billie's character, she's someone who went through a super traumatic experience, and while she still hasn't healed from it, she keeps pushing forward, using it as her drive to get better and be stronger in order to avenge her parent's death. She was a great character and I thoroughly enjoyed following her story. I really enjoyed the characters of the dukes too. I must admit, I fell in love with Eryx as soon as I met him. His personality and his gentle caring nature and his need to protect was just swoon worthy, and his Griffyn, Echo, my god that mystical bird made me laugh on a couple of occasions. I loved the dynamic between Eryx and his Griffyn counterpart so much, it was a true highlight of the book for me. The other two brothers took a little bit longer to endear themselves to me, but they did do it eventually. Tallis was first. His brooding distrustful demeanour made total sense to me; his back story made me empathise with why he was so distrusting of Billie in the beginning, but when he began to let her in, I fell in love with his teasing and fiery nature. His passion for Billie literally explodes and I was here for it. And can we please take a second to really appreciate his demon form (IYKYK). Khaos is a bit of a different story, while I did come around to him in the end, I just didn't fall in love with him as much as the others. I did absolutely adore his need to protect Billie, especially in a certain scene with a storm, and I could see that he genuinely cared for her and loved her and just wanted her to be able to see that. But for some reason, I just preferred his brothers to him.
The spice was HOT! And I mean hot (Tallis, I'm looking at you). As this is a standalone instalment that, while part of a series, can be read as a standalone with a story that is completed and a HEA, I was worried that the instalove/lust would be an issue for me, as it's not my favourite trope. I have to say though, Young does a fantastic job of really making you feel that fated mates vibe, and uses the spice to help develop the character relationships throughout the story. It's funny because if it's a fated mate trope, I can handle the instalove, I guess because it's "meant to be". I can suspend disbelief and just enjoy that the characters were meant to be together and that it was written in the stars. That their bond transcends normal, logical thinking because fate is just that strong. And Young does this brilliantly. I also loved that Billie didn't just turn into putty in the dukes' hands, she fought that fated mates bond with everything that she had because she wasn't 100% sure on who the dukes really were deep down, and I absolutely LOVED that about her. Also, I just want to point out, there's a bloody cake recipe at the end of this book! I've already saved it and plan to try it out. I loved that little added extra.
The story itself was well written, and while it was more character driven than plot driven, the plot was still solid. I had a bit of a feeling with a certain reveal, but not the way that it came about or the why behind it. This was a solid paranormal, why choose, fated mates romance with a good dose of mystery and vengeance thrown in. The only reason I knocked a little bit of a star off was honestly just for the epilogue. While I liked seeing the "after" the story line part, I feel like it just didn't do it for me and detracted from the story a teeny bit. That's just a personal grievance though, it's nothing against Young's ability in her craft or anything like that. I almost wish that it wasn't included or that Billie had have gone a different direction with what happened. It's nothing super major, but I'm trying to be vague so that I don't give anything away.
All in all, this was a solid, enjoyable read. It had engaging and four-dimensional characters that really jumped off the page, each with their own trauma and healing to do, and can help each other along the way with. It was honestly a page turner and a fun read with ample spice sure to make your legs weak and your heart beat fast (again, Tallis, I'm looking at you). The characters are fun, and I loved the little doses of humour sprinkled throughout. If you're looking for a page turning read, with depth and a decent story, give this one a go. And if you're a cake enthusiast, simply read it just for that!

Mark Me
is the fourth standalone book in the second season of the
Immortal Vices and Virtues: Her Monstrous Mates,
and tells the story of Billie, Eryx, Khaos and Tallis.
Mark Me was another amazing book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues world, and this time it was written by a new-to-me author. And although this was a new-to-me author, I already knew I was going to love this book after reading a few chapters. I was really interested in the story and the characters, I was really excited for the romance and the spice, and I wanted to know what happened to Billie and who killed her parents. And let me tell you I was surprised…
Mark Me is already the fourth book in the second season, and it’s about Billie, a wolf shifter with special powers, Eryx, a griffin, Khaos, a wolf shifter, and Tallis, an incubus. All men are also half god. I really enjoyed the mixed harem, each man had their own extras and kinks. I really liked Eryx’ griffin called Echo, and Tallis had a nice surprise in his incubus form… Mark Me is a Slow Burn Romance, it takes a little while to get steamy, but the scenes are so worth it! I really liked all three men, and our main character, Billie, was badass and sassy, I love her!
I’m so happy that we got another great book in the Immortal Vices and Virtues series! I really enjoy reading these books because I love Fantasy Romance books, they’re all standalone books so no cliffhangers, they have beautiful covers and you get to know new authors or read books by authors you enjoy. If you’re a fan of Reverse Harem Romance or multiple mates, then the second season of the Immortal Vices and Virtues, Her Monstrous Mates, is definitely something for you. If you’re more a fan of one mate, then I recommend the first season of the Immortal Vices and Virtues books. But if you enjoy both, go read all the books because they’re amazing!
Started with such promise. It was a such a strong beginning I really thought I’d be surprised.
I was surprised just not how I wanted to be. The fmc is meant to be a strong character the three mmc’s constantly refer to her as such but she falls flat.
She falls flat because instead of the author developing her, having her magic, skills and potential grow it just because about sex and thinking about how gorgeous and irresistible the mmc’s are which sorry but what to over do that to death.
That’s her entire personality is her attraction, bodies response and the just a glancing need to find her parents killer. A killer that is oh so convenient when the time is right to wrap the book to the one full blown sex scene that also didn’t live up to the build up.
Just as the final battle didn’t battle hard enough. I mean this was the mmc’s only chance to display their talents in fighting and it was just eh. Then the fmc merely gets lucky with the villian essentially running himself through on her sword by accident. It was all easy, and boring and thoughtless.
Fmc never learns her magic, we never learn enough about any of them or their talents etc. this was an outline with repetitive sexual thoughts and actions not a fully fleshed out book with developed and rounded characters.

Mark Me is the latest addition to the Immortal Vices and Virtues series. This book is a standalone, so you don't need to have read the other books to dive into this book and lose yourself. Billie is on the hunt for her parents' killers. It's taking time, and to be expected, frustration is mounting. Add in that she's trying to hide who she is so that she doesn't join them in death, and you have a great premise for this book thus far. When she gets a lead that leads her to three men who just so happen to be her mates? Well, cue the drama! Tense drama. Steamy drama, tantalizing drama! I loved the differences in them. They are all a touch irritable, some more than others, but I have to admit that I was drawn more so to Eryx, and Tallis. Eryx because he actually tries to go the romance route, and Tallis because he's the more skeptical of them. For whatever reason I always lean toward those types. LOL! This book is a page-turner and truly gripping. I struggled at times with the characters and their attitudes, but the writing style really kept me engaged and coming back for more. 4.5 out of 5 stars
What a fun and wild read this turned out to be. Heroine Billy witnessed her parents murder as a child when they died saving her life. She's lived to find out anything on their attackers and vows revenge. This brings Billy to Finland where she devises a plan to sneak into the Duke's palace (those that run their own assassin firm kind of) only to find not one but three of her mates. The guys don't like secrets but seem to have their own as well so I don't blame her for keeping so much to herself especially since they are possibly the number one suspects-not that they murdered her parents but that they OK'd the hit on her which ultimately cost them their lives. As she gets to know her 3 mates pieces slowly start to come together and while the answers are not what she wanted, at the end of the day she gets her HEA and is still a badass. I mean I've never met a heroine who has elvish ruins on her arms that allow her to manifest swords. Via audio this was a pretty quick read and just long enough to bring out the group loving and a well drawn out plot and eventual HEA.
Mark Me was a well paced, easy read that I really enjoyed!
Mila Young delivers an intriguing setup with strong worldbuilding and plenty of potential for drama, spice, and shifter chaos. While it wasn’t quite as spicy as I’d hoped (so many opportunities that could’ve turned the heat up!), there were still some great moments to keep things interesting.
A couple of throwaway plot threads, like Mila’s best friend, left me wanting a bit more depth and resolution. Also, Billie was meant to be a Wolf, but we never actualy get to see her shift or meet her wolf in any capacity. I also felt like the climax, Billie facing her past trauma, was a little underwhelming and rushed. But overall, it didn’t take away too much from the fun.
Would recommend to those looking for something spicy, with plotline, but not looking for anything too serious.
Ok so this was a great read!! Billie was such a badazz!! It was so good I didn’t wanna put it down.. aahhh so good!! If you love a badazz MFC.. Fated mates.. monstrous men.. revenge.. you’ll love this book!! This is a standalone & you don’t need to read the other books in the series for this to make sense.. 🩵🖤
This book was everything. I absolutely love the characters and the story was amazing that I couldn’t put it down. Billie and her guys are definitely characters that I will never forget. Once I started reading I was completely hooked. Definitely a 5 star read that everyone must one-click.
I absolutely loved this book. I got it as part of her ARC group. The characters are absolutely amazing and I love them together. Eryx and Echo are absolutely adorable and loveable. If you love fated mates and a strong heroine who doesn't put up with anyone's crap, grab this standalone. You will not regret it.
Intriguing Plot Starring Broken Yet Strong Characters, But It Needs More Editing
Read through Kindle Unlimited Program
Mark Me was difficult for me to rate and review. After intense consideration, I finally settled on 3 to 3.5 stars and I am going to try and explain why. First, though I liked the story and characters, I struggled to read it. Now, as I am a mood reader, I did not remove any stars for that fact alone. However, I later realized that even when engaged I was stopping several times to reread sections secondary to writing/editing issues. There were times I experienced voice confusion, or where I noticed a shift from first person to third person perspective. Additionally, there were some minor spelling/word mistakes that I would normally ignore but were more easily noticed in combination with the previously mentioned issues. I also struggled with the pacing. Especially in the relationships, where the mating heat trope was used to advance the story instead of character growth/interaction. The irony being that main character, Billie, keeps saying that things are moving too fast. This also leads to some dubious consent situations, by far not the worst out there, but still could be uncomfortable for some readers.
That said, there were still some very enjoyable parts to this story. The plot itself had some unique twists and was not completely predictable. I loved the fact that Immoral Vices & Virtue (IV&V) readers learn more about Khaos (introduced in previous books) and his brothers. And Billie is a stubbornly snarky, and fun heroine. The characters were definitely the highlight of the writing for me.
Mila Young is a new to me author, and while Mark Me will not be one of my top reads for the year, I am not opposed to trying more of her books. This book is worth the read just for what it adds to the IV&V Universe.
Let’s Talk Basics:
🐺Length: Novel
😈Genre: Paranormal romance/Dystopian fantasy – shifters, demons, fae, magic, etc.
🏔️POV: First person, multiple perspectives – female & male main characters
🗡️Age: Adult
🐺Warnings: Language, violence, PTSD/nightmares, abduction, and sexual content
😈Spice: Spice in detail on multiple pages, including MF, MFM, edging, slight bondage, mate-bonding, and mating heat (some dubious consent there)
🏔️Violence: Moderate, battle -focused, includes character deaths, shifter violence, and beheading.
🗡️Editing: I was pulled from the story several times by voice confusion, changes in tense/perspective, spelling, and wrong words.
🐺World: Post-supernatural-apocalypse Earth – Finland this time
😈Series: Immortal Vices & Virtues (interconnected standalones in a shared universe)
Look I don't have an issue with post apocalyptic world but at least be consistent with it. If the Internet isn't a thing anymore and the world is split into sections, I highly doubt you can get Japanese cakes in south Africa. I honestly found the world boring but did enjoy the characters. Plus we have a heroine that's not a total idiot all the time. "I feel the tension pouring out of that room in waves, and I hurry past, even if I’m curious about what’s going on. I’m not going to spy because, knowing my luck, I’ll get caught." I'm so sick of the eavesdropping just to be caught doing it trope. At least she admits when she's out of her element Also I've read some weird stuff, but injecting a tracking device into her arm while she sleeps??? That is some serious messed up crap. And what's worse is the end of the book comes around and she still has no idea. And for a wolf shifter, she is really surprised when she meets other shifters. Especially since one of her mates is a shifter. Like... "The guard finally arrives on the balcony in a casual stride, examining my situation, but his aloof expression irritates me. “Took you long enough,” I say with a strained voice. “Why is this monstrous wolf up here? Can you get rid of it before it kills me?” Rather than responding, the guard chuckles, even as the wolf snaps its jaws at him. Pausing abruptly, he lowers his head, saying, “Your Grace, I’ll leave you to it.” I freeze in shock. “Wait, what?” Did he just say, Your Grace?" This is so dumb. She could smell other shifters earlier but can't now? Again. Some consistency would be nice. The book is a solid 3. Won't read more in the series but I appreciate the cake recipe at the back of the book 😂
Wolf Shifter? Check. Griffin Shifter? Check. Demon Shifter? Check.
This book has a bit of everything, and while it is part of a series it was a great stand along read too! Billie embarks on an adventure to investigate a tragic incident from her past and gets way more than she expected - in more ways than one!
Great paced shifter read, I’m off to read the rest!
I devoured this standalone in the Monstrous Mates series of IV&V! I loved the concept, how the story unfolded and the characters were fabulous.
I liked not knowing all the backgrounds of the characters, seeing things be revealed and helping create this great storyline and engaging plot and all the other subplots haha. I liked Billie as an FMC, she was such a BA but also had soft moments, especially about her parents and what she endured as a kid. I felt for her when more things were revealed and she had to confront people she thought cared about her and others who only wanted her powers. OH and her powers were so much fun and made her battles engrossing. I wish we got more of them in other books in the series, I would love to see her fight along side others in the world. Loved the cameos too btw, getting to see some characters from previous books and getting some hints to others in future ones. I appreciated the authors interconnecting this one better than the first big overall series. Felt like each author got to have the spotlight but little things with the details and connections to other harems/couples/small storylines helped elevate it and only made me love the world/series more.
Loved the guys and how misunderstood they were! I still think our hilarious and off the wall griffin is my favorite and his beast made for some fabulous entertainment haha. I snort giggled so much with his antics, which I didnt think I would with a more darker storyline/book out of the series so far. Loved seeing Chaos step up and be all yummy possessive/domineering but not OTT. And our demon was my biggest shock, his other form, how things happened with him, how sexy he was wooing her hahaha. And his special parts of his form was a special surprise (and for Billie too haha). I liked the dynamics with this one, each guy brought something to the table and helped with running this part of the world and being their for Billie, once they all got their sticks out their behinds if you know what I mean haha.
I thought the baddies were done really well too, I wanted to punch the one in the face and was happy he got his just rewards at the end. The others were evil and glad they got their comeuppance too. I thought the narrators did a fabulous job with all the different personalities and characters, brought the situations easily to life in my head as I listened. I liked hearing the different ones and performances depending on which character you got. Great job all around, no complaints from me!
Favorite of this series by far, already have listened to it twice and I don't normally do that with standalones. On to the next one in the series!
Mila Young has joined the Immortal Vices and Virtues Universe with Mark Me, her contribution to the Her Monstrous Mates series. I'm dying, the MFC often refers to the guys as "the Dukes" and every time she says it, it kind of feels like a Regency romance but that's not what this is. Mark Me is a steamy monster romance with dark undertones. It was superb.
Billie is a badass. After the tragic event of her parents' death, Billie went into hiding, learning to fight in order to exact her revenge. I give it to Billie, she has some skill. The woman is brave, fierce, and a risk-taker. I love that she sassed the guys so much. I admire how she saw her goal and went after it with everything, she didn't back down.
This is a harem of brothers. Khaos (who you might have briefly met in Claim Me), Tallis, and Eryx are the Dukes. Khaos is the oldest, he's more reserved and has the weight of the world on his shoulders. The middle brother, Tallis, is the bookish one who doesn't trust easily. Lastly is Eryx who is wild and passionate. I love them all but Eryx is my favorite, he isn't afraid to express his feelings, and when he does. Que the swooning.
The guys fall instantly (well Tallis has trust issues but he still falls), excited for a fated mate, however, Billie came there on a mission and she must have the willpower of the gods because she's trying her best to stay on target. It's hilarious. Billie is getting under the guys' skin and I'm loving it. The attraction is unreal but she's fighting them tooth and claw and her secrets are driving them mad. They want everything and she's giving them nothing. It's like a game of cat and mouse only I don't know who's the cat and who's the mouse, rolls seem to switch all the time. Because the guys aren't the only ones feeling it, the guys are driving Billie wild which causes for some intimate moments.
The plot moves along fairly well with Billie trying to find out who was behind her parents' murder and the guys trying to woo Billie while also trying to uncover her secrets. The pulse-pounding excitement does happen until near the end of the book when the truth about Billie's parents comes to light, the revelation about who's been after her all this time, and the mystery the Dukes are trying to solve all comes out. It was outstanding. The adrenaline rush was real, along with the rage on Billie's behalf.
Mark Me was fantastic, the bad guys were exactly who I thought they were, Billie got her revenge and she got the guys. I can't believe it's a standalone, the story wrapped up perfectly but I'm not ready to let go of Billie and her monstrous men. It was just that good.
Woohoo! I can't believe we're already in book 4 of this series. I've read quite a few books by the author, so I was looking forward to this one!
Worldbuilding: The books in the series (and the previous series) all take place in the same world. We get a few scenes with known characters here and there (I really love that!), so it feels like one big continuous story. If you want to know what this particular book is about, read the blurb ;) The scenes and environments were clear and detailed, which translates into a very nice and relaxing reading experience.
Character development: Billie has always been unique. Born as a wolf shifter with strange markings tattooed on her arms. 6 years ago, her parents died, and now she finally has a clue to find out who killed them and get her vengeance. Getting caught up with the brothers was NOT part of the plan! Khaos is the oldest brother and is mostly seen as the one in charge. As a wolf shifter, he is closest to Billie in that sense. He is also seen as the heir to his grandfather. Tallis, an incubus, has a certain penchant for getting information out of people unwilling to talk. Trust is very, very important for him, and he absolutely hates knowing that his fated mate is keeping secrets. Eryx, our griffin shifter, is the last of the brothers. Due to circumstances, he doesn't have a good grip on his other form. Echo, his griffin, is pretty wild and tends to jump out of windows a lot, lol.
The brothers are a force to be reconned with, and with Billie as their fated mate in their crosshairs, that's not only a lot of pressure but a lot of attention, too. Cause while they have a lot on their plates, finding out who Billie is and what her secrets are, is their number one priority...
Characters feel alive and reasonably fleshed out. I love their interactions, and especially Echo is a favorite of mine :D
Pacing and flow: This story was fast-paced. I read it in one sitting cause it had a hold of me and wouldn't let go. :D There is a good balance between conversations and action.
The book: The book was well-written and had quite a few steamy scenes (if that is important to you). It has 436 pages, spread over 33 chapters, and is told from multiple points of view. Oh, oh, oh... and you get the recipe for a fabulous chocolate cake as a bonus! I mean... yum!
Final thoughts: I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and really enjoyed it! It was a quick and fun read. But still... afterward, I couldn't stop thinking that there was so much more to write about, to flesh out the story a bit more. So that was a missed opportunity.
