Arming Alexis
By Jen D. Young
Underground Omega Syndicate Book #5
Standalone
Why Choose | Organized Crime | Omegaverse
The multi-author series, The Omega Syndicate continues with Arming Alexis by Jen D. Young. A heartbroken omega, cybercrimes, three deadly alphas, and a criminal empire. What a read!
Alexis "Lexi" is this story's omega. She's very much the loner, in her own little world but she's also a really good hacker with a bit of a Robin Hood vibe. Robbing from rich and supporting omega organizations. Lexi has anxiety and self-confidence issues due to past trauma. However her alter (hacker) ego RobinTheOmega is all confidence and she even brings some of that to her regular personality, she's awfully snarky and feisty with the guys and they love it.
Well, this story went totally different than I was expecting. First off the Syndicate had a smaller role, less torturing their victims in this. The plot was more relationship based because the guys are long-time friends and one of the guys was in Alexis's life a long time ago. Antonio is the ex–love of her life and boss man. Miko (the brat) is a hacker extraordinaire and a psycho stalker, I love him. Finally but not least Cormac, the Daddy Dom, and my favorite. The group balances out, Cormac is warm, a caregiver, whereas the other two are cold. Antonio being the leader has to be calm and collected. While Miko is a psycho he has a warmth and depth when it comes to the three people he cares for and he also has a playful bratty side that's the best. These three are quite the catch and completely obsessed with their omega.
I have learned some things. I always thought that the Omega Syndicate weren't the good guys but now I believe them to be the terrorist that they are. Now they've bitten off more than they can chew when they start messing with the mafia. The Italian and Russian mafia are bitter rivals and the Syndicate has gotten into their business, of course, it's not in the way that you think, no they are once again up to shady stuff.
Holy crap! Jen dropped one helluva plot twist at the very end. Color me surprised. Like. What? This was such a great read, I demolished this book. A little kidnapping, betrayal, complicated family dynamics, hacking, light torture, blackmail, and a few murders, I expect nothing less if the mafia goes head-to-head with a terrorist cell. Arming Alexis everything I could want in an organized crime read.
