What I love about this series and why I will continue to keep reading them, is the characters. I enjoy the interaction between all of the characters, if they are the bad guys or the good guys. They all are incredibly well-rounded in which I mean the reader gets to know and learn about each of the characters as if they were carrying the story alone. But they don't, these books are told from different perspectives.
Also we get to travel around the world, from Paris to San Francisco and Cuba. I enjoy that we get a little bit of historical background into the cities , it's as if the settings are a character of their own.
You'll get a little bit of everything that the first book introduced as well, some international political conflicts, spies with fast and fancy toys, advanced technology and the heart of the story, great characters.
This author will appeal to fans of James Patterson and Dan Brown.

I'm still impressed.

This book didn't grab me quite the way the first did, but I consider it more of a segue book anyway, setting the stage for serious movement in the next. Even so, there were many aspects I enjoyed about this one.

First, my primary complaint in the last book was the ever shifting first person POV. This book, I found much more comfortable in that regard. The POV shifts are a bit cleaner and now that the characters are familiar, less disorienting. There are also fewer shifts overall.

I LOVED the Forward, a recap of "recent events" by one of the primary characters. It very neatly an uniquely solved the problem of how to address a reader picking up book 2 without having read book 1. Now that I've seen how the author handled it, I can't believe I've never seen that approach before. It makes so much sense!

There is a very high EQ going on in this series. I was drawn into the initial book by the lyrical style and imagery of the writing. I noticed in the first and again in this book, that the subtleties of character interactions are particularly good. There was just the right amount of detail to give you hints as to the nature of deeper thoughts and history, but it's not overdone and doesn't sacrifice the rhythm of the action. The composite makes for a colorful and delightfully textured experience.

This book really dug deeper on the primary characters and I found it a very enjoyable journey. We're beginning to see how the foreshadowing prologue of book 1 came to be and are circling towards it's promised plot points. Personally, I appreciate the anticipation being built. Instant gratification is a shallow treat.

Action scenes were still quite present and well done, but not the all consuming big theatrics of book 1. This book was structured differently, which I highly applaud. I understand the temptation to rinse repeat on a successful plot structure. I like a change in pace and focus rather than a different version of the previous book.

I can't wait to read the next one.

A good interim book - adding background and plot development. Still it lacks because it is a bridge book. Hope the next one is better. Five books to tell one story is no fun. Many stories is better.
