The maniacal tilt-a-whirl story of the Posse, where they reveal how they transformed themselves from welfare-scrubs to wicked musical clowns worth millions.
Insane Clown Posse is an American hip hop duo from Detroit, Michigan. The group is composed of Joseph Bruce and Joseph Utsler, who perform under the respective personas of the "wicked clowns" Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope. Insane Clown Posse performs a style of hardcore hip hop known as horrorcore and is known for its elaborate live performances. The duo has earned two platinum and three gold albums. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the entire catalog of the group has sold 6.5 million units in the United States and Canada as of April 2007.
This is an autobiography following the life of Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope. It details their upbringing and their rise to becomimg the most hated band in the world. Its a good read if your interested in psychopathic music. I was actually suprised by how good the book turned out to be. I read it to the end but it took a long time due to the fact that i started reading it with a newborn at home. I think I would recommend it to some of my friends
For those used to reading classic literature, this book is a pretty easy read. But don't let that fool you. Just because it's easy doesn't mean it isn't good.
It's not startling in its revelations, it doesn't have a plan to end war or hunger, or bring about an Utopian society. What it does do is help familiarize you with the Insane Clown Posse. Most notably, Violent J, one half of the horror rap duo.
J's honesty is refreshing, as is his unpretentious nature which shines through the writing like a lighthouse through fog. The stories from his childhood are somewhat horrifying and depressing, but since J himself seems to have been able to keep a good sense of humor regarding the tribulations in his life, the book steers clear of self-pity or, on the opposite end of the spectrum, shameless self-glorification.
For anyone interested in the Insane Clown Posse, this book is a must-read, but I also believe it should be a mandatory read for those self-righteous, paranoid Bible thumpers who believe Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are unrepentant Satanists.
The crazy lives these guys have lead since meeting each other and the careers they've had as both rappers and wrestlers is a crazy story. A must read for anyone.
This book is an amazing insight into the world of the biggest underground band to ever perform. It is a testiment to how people can elevate themselves above thier surroundings, and do anything with thier lives as long as they believe in tier own dreams, and pursue them faithfully.
I love to read about peoples lives. You can really get a feel for the type of person Violent J truly is. His honesty about his family life, and relationships makes this a very interesting read.
