Detailed and probably not useless, horribly dry and uninteresting otherwise. Mostly covers early law and transaction details for gold rush era bigwigs, with the only narrator input being how admirable they are for making so much money and wiggling their way into various state supreme courts, or occasionally an unnecessary metaphor. No citations at all so can't judge the accuracy, but could be a useful jumping point for research since it's not short on names, dates, and figures.
