Outline of the story: A nobody newbie novelist fell to his death, when this happened his apartment was locked from the inside, so the death was ruled as a suicide, but soon it was discovered that the dead novelist's last short novel was copied straight from another well known novelist's already published story? Why would anyone make such a career ending move before he killed himself?

Background Information This story was first serialized in a magazine back in the 1970s, only published as a book in 2004.

This first novel of Akira Nakamachi really takes me by surprise, I'm impressed by Mr. Nakamachi's wordplay and his plot twists (so there are actually two secretly separate timelines instead of just one, a famous novelist copied and stole a story from a newbie novelist instead of the other way around, two men who share the exact same family name and first name) I almost felt cheated when I turned the last page, but it's a defeat I'm willing to accept.

Will keep my eyes on more of Mr. Nakamachi's novels.
