I loved the characters, I loved the story and I loved how it flowed over a 30 year span within the three books.""... I read Maiden in 8 hours, I simply could not force myself to put it down.""This story made me cry and laugh, which only a couple of books have been able to do to me.""I would love to see this series come alive on the big screen, a Twilight for Grownups.""'Borrowed' this book through my Kindle Fire and was EXTREMELY blown-away! What an awesome book!""Strongly recommend these books to anyone who is looking for a series to 'get lost' in.""This is one of the best books that I have read in a long time!""The depth of the personalities of each character was very well done, original plot, very vivid and I disappeared from my family obligations for 2 days to finish it. Silvanus is certainly NOT your 'typical' vampire!""At the end, I couldn't wait to move on to the second book and the same with the third.""These books are beautifully written.""I am truly captivated with this story. I just finished book one and frantically searched Amazon for book two praying that it was ready to load to my Kindle and thankfully it was along with book three! Can't type anymore... must start book two now. Buy book, read it, move on to books two and three you will NOT be disappointed :)""This book is amazing. First of all, not my type of book at all... I do not read books involving vampires, not me at all. Except now, I am saying bring on the other two books of this series.""This book held my attention, I was taking it everywhere with me so I could keep on reading.""Maiden was a lovely stand alone read, but as part of a trilogy it becomes stronger.""I loved this book! Quite different from what I usually read but it was excellent. The bond between Sarah and Silvanus is something that you wish for yourself. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down, had to see what happens. "

I wrote it so it's not fair to ask me. However, here are some of the reviews:

“I'm in major love with these characters and find myself giggling because at 40 years old, I am obsessed with these books.”

“I downloaded this book free on my kindle fire and let it sit there for about 2 weeks. Last night I picked it up to avoid studying for final exams. Lets just say, I never got around to studying because I read Maiden in 8 hours, I simply could not force myself to put it down.”

“This story made me cry and laugh, which only a couple of books have been able to do to me.”

“I would love to see this series come alive on the big screen, a Twilight for Grownups.”

“Strongly recommend these books to anyone who is looking for a series to ‘get lost’ in.”

“This is one of the best books that I have read in a long time!”

”All of the characters are so believable and, while I was constantly surprised by the direction the book took (it never seemed to go where I thought it was headed!), I was riveted from the beginning. These characters have become good friends and, strange as their situations are, while in the book, I absolutely believed in the story as it unfolded.”

This was the first of a trilogy. This was a freebie, the second two I bought. I thoroughly enjoyed them all and they kept my interest from beginning to end. Read all three in record time. It's got vampires, supernatural, suspense and romance. If you don't like the unrealistic aspect, then you probably won't enjoy these books. But, take a walk on the wild side, and you might lose several days enjoying these books like I did.

I enjoyed this book. I am not a paranormal or a romance lover, but this book had something in it that kept me reading. I wasn't crazy about the repeated nature of the assertion that Sarah was undeniably special to everyone except her own family. I felt that toward the end (80% mark), the book got a little repetitive, but overall I enjoyed it. I will definitely be reading part two of the trilogy.

This could have been a higher rating if Silvanus didn't have the attraction to 13 year old Sarah. Even though it was repeatedly stated that his attraction wasn't sexual, it clearly was by his thoughts. He kissed her and had to show great restraint physically (she noticed his visibly growing erection) well before her 17th birthday. If you've ever raised a child, you know at 13 they are still a child. Had it just been Sarah infatuated with him at that age, I would have been ok with it. It bothered me even after she turned 18.

Silvanus nearly killed Sarah when she was 16 by drinking her almost dry. If she hadn't been taken to the hospital by her Uncle's family for transfusions, she would have been dead. This incident was never mentioned again by her or Silvanus. Not why he did it. No apologies. Nothing. Yet she was so in love with him that she could spin it in her mind to actually believe it was her fault!

There are also inconsistencies in the timeline of the book. This story was supposed to start out in 1977 but the terms used and the subjects spoken about were not from that era. I have started "Mother" and have also run into these type of inconsistencies. For example, when Sarah goes to the picnic in Hannum, she heard the teenagers talking about the latest CD one of them bought. This would have been 1987, they would have more likely been discussing cassette tapes.

Actually, those would be my only complaints with this story. It has kept me entertained and reading until the wee hours of the morning, which means it is doing what a book is intended to do. I would recommend this book to others but with a warning that I did have problems with some of the content.

A very good read!

I'm not one to read vampire books, the reviews lured me to read this one. I found it to be hard to put down. I was pulled into this book from the first page and allowed it to linger a while afterwards. This story about a relationship between a vampire and an extraordinary young girl begins loaded with wonder. All the way through, there's just enough suspense as it constantly held my interest. I began the second book immediately after reading this one (also very good).

I enjoyed parts of this book until the love story became too far-fetched and repetitious. I've read the blurbs for the next two books in the triology. The three might have made one good book.

This was a free Kindle book. Good storyline. Loved the ancient Rome concept. Poorly written; some sections were so boring to read I glanced over them.
