"Kamiko consideró al líder demonio por un momento. —¿Qué harías tú en nombre del amor?
Una dolorosa expresión cayó sobre el rostro de Panahasi. —¡Qué no haría!"

El final de este libro te deja con unas ansias del siguiente que no podes dejar de pensar en eso😂

This book is about as good as they can get with Hagen's books. I was only reading it to know whether the Japanese character in this book is the same stereotype of a small, sexless and effiminate Asian who needs a big white man as the three Asian characters in her Brac Pack series. Well he is small and slim, but apparently not sexless but with a strong sex-drive and actually gets to top his much bigger demon mate, so not the stereotype I expected (usually twinks don't top hunks in her series, it wouldn't even occur to them).
However the fact that here is again someone described as having milky skin, black hair and coal-black eyes made me wonder and the behavior of the character in regard to sex rang a bell. I checked some of my literature again and found the article "Looking for My Penis: The Eroticized Asian in Gay Video Porn" in "A Companion to Asian American Studies" and in the article it is said: "Second, within the totalizing stereotype of the ‘‘Oriental,’’ there are competing and sometimes contradictory sexual associations based on nationality. So, for example, a person could be seen as Japanese and somewhat kinky, or Filipino and ‘‘available.’’
Now what was said there sounds reminiscent of the character Kamiko in the book and considered Hagen's usual stereotypical portrayal of her non-white characters I lean towards thinking that she just used another stereotype again, either conciously or unconciously, rather than it being coincidence. Especially since Kamiko was able to strip of his clothes and perfectly fold them in mere seconds, why would he do that if he was supposedly so horny?
Not to mention the cover, we can pretty much guess which one is Kamiko.

Also there is this typical glossing over and lacking of background that characterizes her books again. Why not tell us some more about Takeo's or Kamiko's background if Takeo's memories got searched through anyway? It could help understand the character more and also lengthen the book. The books are adult content anyway, so why not write it?

And why is it that a twink can only be an exlcusive bottom or versatile and a hunk only versatile or an excusive top? Why did her series never had a hunk who is an exclusive bottom and a twink who is an exclusive top? At least I can't remember that ever having been the case.

2012 Review:

Wow. Way to crush my interest in this particular subseries.

I had been looking forward to this book for a long time, pretty much from the first inkling of anything going on with Takeo. Or Kamiko. This was fuelled along the way. But this? They’re both just… so not like they have been portrayed up to now. At all. And all the conflicts and reactions and whatnot are ridiculous. Honestly.

And then, when I finally reach the end, to top it all off of all people finds his mates. Yep, you heard me. Two of them. That in itself might make me growl just a tad but the way it happens and the guys involved are just… so… fucking… awful!

Well, thank you, author. Thank you for not only screwing up one of the most promising pairings in your series but saddling one of the most interesting characters across them all with stupid and annoying mates.

The writing was sub-par again, too. Sub-par in relation to the rest of these books, I mean. Meh. Or maybe I just notice it more when the book itself is lacking.

Also, whatever happened to Phoenyx’s super-duper healing powers? They had been using them less and less in the previous volumes, but they were completely absent in this one, despite the major and frequent need for some thorough healing. Seriously. It makes no sense at all. This is just dumb. And he is around. He was there. Bah.

Well, let’s keep going. Although my stash of books left to read is slowly winding down, we still have several more opportunities to watch these series fall apart and enjoy my blood pressure go through the ceiling as I rage about it.

typical lynn hagen serial romance. nothing fantastic, nothing so bad it can't be finished. what is typical lynn hagen? imagine a shorter harlequin romance but with no t&a (see, i was going to write no surprise pregnancies, but... yeah.).

out of sheer laziness, i will be using this as my template for all books by :
lynn hagen
stormy glenn
scarlett hyacinth
carol lynne
gabrielle evans

unless otherwise noted. i'd apologize, but i'm not sorry. i figure it's about as much time as they put into their books. dammit! well, i made it all the way to the end being rather moderate in my assessment. that's a win.

I really felt like taking a point off for the ending but that isn't about this couple so I didn't. But I have a problem with the ending as it is, you would think that Panahasi's story would be up next, BUT nooo it looks like we have to wait till number 13!! that's 9 more to get thru.....

Crossed out - author has re did the order of the series to be released, and his story is next per her website. Numbers for the series on GR is off. :)

Well, I delved into the Bracverse a 2nd time and now there are 121 books - yikes! I loved this Universe the first time I read it several years ago and now I love it more, I really do, but I've only been able to read these series (and I have expanded to all the books that are currently out in each):
Brac Pack
Christian's Coven
Zeus's Pack
Demon Warriors
The Exiled

These are the series that start the Universe. Reading them in order is a must. Each book has it's own love story but there is an underlying story that plays out throughout them all. As you get towards the end of these series, other series come into play and I noticed that, since I did not read them, I missed some of the characters being mentioned (good and bad) but I was still able to follow because the main ones stay the same.

One day I WILL buy these and read them all!!! (For the correct order, just look on the Internet for Lynn Hagen Reading Order):
Brac Village
Shadow Tribe
BPNG (Brac Pack Next Generation - Brac Pack kids)
The Remus Brothers
Wolves of Desire

Communication is a key in relationship. Their lack of communication and reckless decision from Kamiko almost made Takeo going insane and Kamiko's past was so horrible, kidnapped and became a sex slave, can't stand it.

Reviewed for www.heartsonfirereviews.com

I have been looking forward to reading this book after getting glimpses of Takeo hovering in Kamiko's room while reading the Zeus Pack Series by Lynn. This was a decent installment in this series. I enjoyed seeing Kamiko, an abuse survivor, coming out of his shell and becoming the man that he was meant to be. Takeo was a bit frustrating to read with his vacillating anger and tenderness towards Kamiko. There is progression in the story of the 'bad guys' Constantine and his brother Marino but not enough to give us a better understanding of what is going to happen. My favorite part of this book was the last chapter but I will not spoiler it for you.

This story was a very nice addition to the overall arcing plotline in this series. I love build up to the battle that seem emanate between the Warriors and the escaped detainees Crypt and Constantine. I love the riddles the Keeper tosses out to the Warrior Leader and how he can never get a straight answer out of him.

Im thinking that their is going to be some kind of showdown between Keegan and Marino. That should be interesting to watch play out.

Overall, very nice build up to the next book in this series and its ongoing storyline.

Fun, light read. I enjoyed hearing about Kamiko and Takeo. I've been waiting to see how the two played out. There was a lot of loose threads to the end of the story. I can't wait to read Panahasi's story:)

Giving this one a 3. Even though Asians aren't my thing because it's rare I find them attractive, I like Takeo. I didn't care for Kamiko because he acted like a spoiled 5 year old with his running away and leave me alone attitude.

Hard and Soft

This story was loaded with events that did not fail to entertain. What I enjoyed most was watching hard characters find a softness in their world, and characters who seemed soft find the courage to do the hard things.
