Sombra Demons #4

Fated to the Phantom

Rate this book
I’m a librarian. I love books. But the one I found in the depository? Yeah… there’s something off about that one—and not only because I had a hard time figuring out if I should shelve it under foreign, occult, fiction, or out of print selections. I think… I think it’s following me. Does that sound crazy? It might. With my anxiety ratcheting up to eleven after a recent rush of break-ins near my house, I’m more on guard than usual. But robbers usually steal stuff, right? They don’t snatch library books and plant them in the librarian’s home. And yet, somehow, that’s where I find the book. That’s not the only strange thing that’s happening to me. I get this feeling like I’m being followed, but when I look behind me, all I see are shadows. I swear I hear a voice calling to me, too… Okay. Maybe I am going crazy, but when I finally discover that I’m being haunted by a towering shadow monster with horns and a mournful gaze, I decide it’s not so bad. Especially when he finally finds a way to let me know that I’m his fated mate… and he’s mine.

* Fated to the Phantom is the fourth book in the Sombra Demons series. It tells the story of Hope and Sammael, an anxious librarian and the mage-turned-phantom who is trying to catch her attention—and her heart.

This series progressively gets more infuriating. Stop trying to make the Duke a redeemable character when he is a clearly manipulative, controlling, and all round horrible character that I wish would be killed off already. ‘Oh, but he can’t be all that bad! He loves his human wife so much’ yeah but he’s still a piece of a shit to everyone else and doesn’t deserve to rule.

I got so angry I couldn’t enjoy this and genuinely rushed through what I could towards the end to get this over with and be done with it because I hate it so much.

Sammael was easily one of the better love interests so far, and Hope was one of the more likeable and relatable protagonists, but everything got overshadowed by: the blatant stupidity (and apparent fluidity??) of Sombran governmental systems, the sudden appearance of world ending information that was never mentioned or hinted at before because it makes for a good plot twist now even if it kind of goes against what’s already been written with no real explanation, and just the infuriating narcissism of the Duke. Please someone just kill him.

Yet another case of what could have been a good book ruined by a white male’s unbearably massive ego.

3.5 ✨

Well, this one was kinda disappointing. I loved Sammael, he was absolutely adorable and such a sweetheart 🥰, but I didn’t really feel a strong connection between Hope and him, at least not on her part. She kinda just suddenly decided to be his 😕.

This book is like actually bad. If it was a bigger book I would have DNF’ed but thank the gods it was a smaller book. It can be read as a stand-alone and the other books to the “series” I’m assuming all have the same plot (a human girl finding her demon mate or vice versa). There were some cute things said by Sammael but it overall was just bad. The MFC claims to have anxiety and blah blah but literally falls in love with this demon without a second thought? Idk it makes no sense. I really feel like this “plot” could have actually been good had it been written properly and more thorough but it was just rushed and poorly written

There really wasn't much to this book. Definitely the weakest plot in the series and I didn't feel the romance as everything was quick and the details were lacking. Everything about this book felt rushed and that was extremely disappointing after such a long wait for it.

Not worth even one star and I forgot how much I despise this author.
Beyond the repetitive crap writing style you have to put up with the revolting demons who insult women by calling their female parts the most vile, derogatory name starting with the letter C. As usual the cocks are massive and the women tiny. No surprise there!
The women as usual have no class, are complete sluts and the F word is there common tongue as they are too stupid to know what other words to express how they feel.
Same old boring sex scenes, same boring book with the love spell, same old crap with other mated couples with foul mouths and loose morals.

And to top it off, the same contradictions in the story line, same typos, same conversations that are written so badly that they make no sense.

I would give this book and actually the whole series a -100% if I was able to.

Do yourself a favour and don’t buy this rubbish or if you are desperate, brain dead or have no class 🤣😂🤮 read away. Good luck but bring a bucket to vomit in or read in the toilet. Thats all it’s worth.

This author has no class, no talent and her inability to use words without profanity or derogatory names tells me that she has the morals of a very disturbing human being Truly vomit inducing reading that I just couldn’t read in its entirety. Definitely never read anything else from this author yuk 🤢🤮

It was so good until it was no more. Maybe today is not my day or something but I am so irritated with this Duke. And especially with his dealing with his supposedly equal mate when he dismisses her and sends to her quarters. And Susanna just swallows it.

Previously I wanted to read the love story of Duke and Su, not - naah. No way.

And getting back to the main heroes. I loved them, they were really great together. It’s like 5 stars before Duke appearance and minus 10 after. Unfortunately. I really waited for Sam’s story.

P.s. plus point for not putting pregnancy for every and each madam here.

Omg

This book. Was amazing. Being a women who has anxiety and Adhd myself, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Hope deals with the same things. The way it was written made me feel seen. How Hope deals with it, and how those funny little quirks manifest in every day life was such an interesting way to read about it. I know what my disorders do to me and bring to my life but sometimes you tend to forget about them until you suddenly don't. Sammael was perfect for Hope, and he was always an intriguing character in the other books. Hope and Sam have such a cute relationship and the story was mesmerizing. I could not put it down. So good.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hope and Sammael’s story in Fated to the Phantom is hauntingly beautiful and full of tension. The chemistry between them is electric, and Sammael’s quiet, brooding nature paired with Hope’s anxiety creates a compelling dynamic. The paranormal aspects of the story, especially the shadowy world and Sammael’s history, add an atmospheric layer of mystery to their romance. I loved the emotional depth, and the twist at the end adds a fantastic layer of complexity to their relationship. This book is a perfect balance of romance, suspense, and supernatural allure—another hit in the series!

Another fun heart-warming Sombra demon story. Sammael is a Sombra demon mage who has waited 900 years for a mate. He seizes an opportunity to use the Grimoire du Sombra to locate one. This backfires because the female is supposed to do the summoning. Although he finds Hope, he is now a phantom that she somewhat senses but cannot see. He attempts to get her to use the Grimoire love spell with little success.

A Ouija board eventually steers Hope into using the Grimoire which allows Sammael to become corporeal. Their troubles are just beginning.

Okay okay. It was everything I expected in a good way. I was a little lost in the beginning but that was a given because I didn’t read any of the other books. They were cute instalove, the only instalove trope I except

“You called me ‘Sam’.”
Yup. He noticed.
“You said I could,” I remind him. “Remember?”
“I do. But you chose not to when we were mating even though… you see, Malphas’s mate gave him a name of her own. ‘Mal’. I thought that, perhaps, you could do the same. Thank you, my mate. It pleases me to be your ‘Sam’.”

Sam is too anxious

This is book four of the series called Sombra Demons. The spell book was given to Sam, the lead male, to return it to the human realm. The book must be allowed to find its next human to demon match. Unfortunately Sam is too anxious for his mate and decides to try and force the book to bring his mate. Oh boy, poor Sam because he should have spoken to Loki beforehand because the spell book doesn’t like to be rushed and will dish out punishment. There is a happy ending for Sam and his mate Hope. Read On!

While an agreeable read, I found this one to be less captivating than the previous instalments in the series.

I really loved being able to discover more about Sammael and learn more about his personality. I think I enjoyed his POV way more than I did Hope’s, which, I found more lacking in depths at times and less enjoyable. Their relationship is cute and I liked seeing the two of them together, thought I preferred the preceredent couples more.

In short: a nice follow up in the series but who lacked the « ompff » effect I needed to really fall head over heels.

✧𝀈❀Overall thoughts:

Curiosity continues to kill the cat (I wanted to bring my reading goal to 140, don't mind me). This one was interesting, but what crack is the Haures guy on? Is the dude ok? What was with that last 20% of the book?

I don't think I want to continue this series, but I'll probably read the next book and then put an end to this madness. And to my mystery.

4 stars!

wow!

I stan a neurodivergent main character!!! I love feeling represented in a book!!! Hope was so much and then some!! I truly loved her! I feel this book was more about her than the demon this time and I wasn’t disappointed. I’m glad the duke wasn’t a jerk… I really thought he was going to be but I’m starting to think that there’s a reason for everything he does!! This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites!!!

I haven’t ready anything by Spade that I didn’t enjoy! This was everything I could’ve asked for, and I honestly wasn’t expecting to like Sammael, but here I am. Tickled pink and thrilled with his and Hope’s story! Now I’m back to anxiously awaiting the next installment 😂 I’m near FERAL for the Duke and Susanna’s story. And Su’s shadow?? I have QUESTIONS that need ANSWERED.

I will continue to recommend to anyone who wants a fluffy/smutty demon romance.

Another great Sombra Demons paranormal romance book! I find this series sooo addictive! Hope’s character was really fun to read and I also really enjoyed Sammael’s POV. Excited to get started on the next book. I try to make them last, but they’re so much fun to read that I burn through them and then I’m sad when they end. 👀😭 Highly recommend if you enjoy paranormal romance, loveable heros, magic and fated mates! 💗💗💗

I love this pair, their character suit eachother I have to say. She has anxiety but is able to fight it to save her mate, which is so sweet in my opinion. And he's patient with her, their dynamic is good for me. When he became a phantom and keep her 'safe' and when he gathers her 'kisses', that's cute

The romance would’ve been good but after two books of Duke Huares’ unnecessary and unexplained interference with the couple it just got annoying. If the conflict for all of the books is the same person, and we don’t know why he’s doing it, it gets redundant. Not to mention his wife that comes off as a battered wife that just stands by while he tortures couples for years.

EXCELLENT Again 😁

This series just keeps getting better and better 😃. This one has the Duke's mage looking for Love, but when he finds it, he's nothing but shadows 😯. Awesome storyline, interesting characters, sexy scenes and intense moments make reading this story well worth the time 😄. Thanks again Sarah, I can't wait to see what happens next 🤓.

I liked this book. It was creative and not the exact same as the other books in this series. I’m planning to finish the entire series. I really like this fantasy universe! Hope and Sammael are the couple in this book, and I enjoyed both characters. Sammael is really sweet and considerate monster boyfriend.
3.7⭐️ and 2 🌶.

Another hit

A preciously fluffy and semi-spicy adventure! While I wish we had a bit more spice in this book, Hope is endearing and Sammael is a big sweetie. I definitely enjoyed the story and the ending leaves me even more excited for the next book!

For this series, we get more info as we read. This book interested me because of the chic MC and Mr Demon MC because he does something that the others didn't do and we get to see how his decision plays out. Check this out if you like light romances and want to continue with the story.
